POCO X5 Pro launched in India yesterday as the latest mid-range offering from the brand. The handset arrives as a successor to the POCO X4 Pro from last year and brings 5G connectivity support. The device is speculated to be a rebrand of the Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition as they have the same specifications. The POCO X5 Pro will compete directly with the Redmi Note 12 Pro which is also priced in a similar range. The latter debuted in the country earlier this year. POCO X5 Pro price in India is Rs 22,999 for the 6GB+128GB and Rs 24,999 for the 8GB+256GB version. The phone will be available via Flipkart and comes in POCO Yellow, Astral Black, and Horizon Blue colour options.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G is priced at Rs 24,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant, Rs 26,999 for the 8GB+128GB model and Rs 27,999 for the 8GB+256GB model.

Design

From the outlook, the POCO X5 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro look very similar. There is a punch-hole cutout in the centre to house the selfie shooter and narrow bezels. Both phones have a boxy design with slightly rounded edges which should make them easier on the hands. The volume rocker and a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button are on the right edge.

On the back, the POCO X5 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro have triple cameras and an LED flash. The camera island on the POCO extends to the top portion of the back panel, giving it a dual-tone design. The phones have a speaker grille, a 3.5mm audio jack, a secondary mic for noise cancellation, and an IR blaster on the top. The bottom portion has a USB Type-C port, speaker grille, SIM tray section, and a primary microphone.
