Realme GT 8 Pro launching in India on November 20th with switchable camera bump
Realme has announced via a microsite that its next flagship, the Realme GT 8 Pro, will debut in India on November 20th at 12 noon. The device was launched as part of the Realme GT 8 series on China on October 21st, and will now make its way to India almost a month later.
The Realme GT 8 Pro will become India’s second Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone, after OnePlus 15 launches on November 13th. Realme is positioning the GT 8 Pro as a performance-centric flagship that utilises AI for efficiency and visual enhancements. The GT 8 Pro will offer LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, along with a Hyper Vision+ AI chip to handle display and image processing.

The GT 8 Pro gets a 2K display with a peak brightness of 7,000 nits and a refresh rate of 144Hz, putting it on par with top-end displays such as the OnePlus 15 and OPPO Find X9 series. The OnePlus 15 offers a higher refresh rate but lower resolution. For added heat dissipation during intense usage, the GT 8 Pro incorporates a 7,000 sq mm vapour chamber.
Just like most other Android flagships this year, the GT 8 Pro is also equipped with a 7,000mAh battery, but is paired with faster 120W fast charging. According to Realme, this can provide “all-day power” with a 15-minute charge. Further, the company guarantees up to 7.6 hours of BGMI gameplay and 21 hours of YouTube playback, which demonstrates an intent towards gaming and endurance use.
One of the major talking points for the GT 8 Pro is the Switchable Camera Bump, which allows users to switch the look and feel of the rear camera module. In theory, users will be able to switch out different shapes and styles, everything from round to square or themed designs. According to Realme, this feature lets users make their phones look exactly how they want instead of being forced into a single design. The GT 8 Pro will house a triple rear camera with Ricoh GR Imaging and swappable camera modules. This is something that can give users flexibility in how they shoot or customise their photography setup. While exciting to try out, how utilitarian this feature is will be known once we get our hands on the device.
The phone will be available in Diary White and Urban Blue colour options. Of these, the Urban Blue variant will have a paper-like leather back that features a textured finish combined with the use of recycled materials. According to the company, Photonic Nano-Carving technology and organic dyes have been employed for the design while maintaining a lightweight yet robust build. The phone also has an IP69 rating for resistance to dust and water, with a metal frame featuring a dual 2.5D curved edge design for a better grip.
Where competitors like the Vivo X300 and the OPPO Find X9 series pack huge cameras, Realme seems to focus a lot on design flexibility and battery life. The OnePlus 15 looks to retain a focus on refinement of camera tuning with its DetailMax Engine, while OPPO’s Find X9 series focuses on high-level imaging with its LUMO Engine. On the other hand, the GT 8 Pro targets users wanting a high-performance, customisable flagship that combines speed, endurance, and style. If Realme prices it competitively, probably around Rs 55,000 to Rs 60,000, it can interest buyers wanting flagship hardware without having to spend extra.
