Realme Neo 8 launching in China on January 22nd with 165Hz display, RGB lights

Highlights

Realme has officially announced the launch date for its next Neo-series flagship. The Realme Neo 8 will debut in China on January 22nd, and the company has already started teasing some key details. From what’s been revealed so far, Realme is positioning the Neo8 as a performance phone with an emphasis on display, battery life, and a gaming-oriented design.

The Realme Neo 8 is confirmed to feature a Samsung M14 OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 6,500 nits of peak brightness. Those are impressive numbers, even by current flagship standards, and should ensure excellent outdoor visibility and sharp HDR viewing. In terms of brightness, the Neo 8 is just slightly behind the company’s own top-tier current flagship, the Realme GT 8 Pro, which has a peak brightness of 7,000 nits. Realme says the panel uses Samsung Display’s latest materials, promising better power efficiency and durability than earlier OLED generations. Leaks indicate the screen will measure around 6.78 inches, feature a flat design, and include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The 165Hz display also matches up to OnePlus 15 and 15R’s refresh rate, which is currently the leader among flagships.

Under the hood, the Realme Neo 8 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, which debuted on the OnePlus 15R in December last year. According to Realme, the Neo 8 has exceeded 3.58 million points on AnTuTu, putting it in flagship performance territory. That’s a notable leap from the Neo 7 and positions the Neo 8 among this year’s powerful Android flagships.
