Update: The Realme Neo 8 launch in China has been scheduled for January 22nd, 07:00 pm local time (04:30 pm IST). The confirmation came from the company’s post on the Chinese microblogging website, Weibo.

The Realme Neo 8 has already been confirmed to launch in China with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC and Awakening Halo design. Now, just ahead of its official announcement, the handset has been featured on the Chinese certification website Tenna, along with its key specifications.

The listing reportedly shows the device carrying the model number RMX8899. Notably, the renders associated with this model closely match the design of the Realme Neo 8, which is expected to debut in India under the Realme GT8 moniker. Simultaneously, Realme has also revealed that the Realme Neo 8 will boast Samsung’s M14 OLED panel with up to 1,000 nits peak manual brightness and up to 6,500mAh peak local brightness.

The display originally debuted on the iQOO 15 and brings advanced OLED material with improved brightness and efficiency. Moreover, Realme claims that the display’s lifespan is 50 percent longer than the “common” models in the industry. Additionally, the Realme Neo 8 will feature an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint scanner for quicker and faster unlock speeds, crystal-coated glass for scratch and drop resistance, rounded corners, and even bezels all around.

Realme Neo 8 specifications, per tenna

Moving on, per the Tenna listing, the Realme Neo 8 will sport a flat 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with 2,772 x 1,272px resolution and up to 165Hz refresh rate. The handset will offer a 16MP front-facing camera and a triple-rear camera setup, with 50MP primary, 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto, and 8MP ultrawide sensors. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 SoC, ticking at its core, will be paired with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage onboard.

Software-wise, the handset will run Realme UI 7 layered atop Android 16 out of the box. To power everything, there is going to be a mammoth 8,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. The device will measure 162 x 77.07 x 8.3mm and weigh 215 grams. Additionally, it is said to feature IP68/69 ingress protection.

These specifications are in line with previous leaks and rumours, thereby confirming the listing belongs to the upcoming Realme Neo 8. The company has teased the launch of the smartphone, but has yet to confirm the exact date. If reports are anything to go by, the handset will break cover later this month in its hometown.

What buyers in India can expect from Realme GT 8 (aka Neo 8)?

The India launch is expected to follow soon, and with the specifications on offer, the device is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated smartphones in the country. It should particularly appeal to gamers, thanks to its high refresh rate, bright AMOLED display, large battery, and powerful sub-flagship chipset. The Realme GT 8 is likely to be priced competitively, positioning it under the GT 8 Pro, which was launched in India at Rs 72,999 a few months ago.

The upcoming GT smartphone is likely to compete against the likes of the OnePlus 15R, which is also a performance-centric smartphone but lacks the punch in the cameras. The Realme GT 8, if launched under Rs 50k, could be an excellent alternative.
