Highlights
  • Realme V5 will be the name of the first phone under the new series
  • The design of the Realme V5 includes a punch-hole display and quad cameras in a rectangular module
  • Realme V5 is expected to launch with a mid-range 5G chipset

Realme V5 will be the name of the upcoming new series from the brand in China, Realme CMP Xu Qi has revealed on Weibo, as spotted by GizmoChina. The company has been teasing the launch of a new smartphone series for the past few days and a new teaser image today reveals not only the name of the upcoming device, but also its design and that it will come with 5G support. The Realme V5 5G will launch with a rectangular camera module at the back and a punch-hole cutout up front. The Realme V5 is expected to launch in China soon and may debut globally at IFA 2020 in Berlin.

The Realme V5 design revealed in the teaser image also tells us that the phone will come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. This suggests that the display will use an LCD panel instead of an AMOLED panel. The quad camera system at the back will include a 48MP primary sensor as inscribed on the module. We’re not completely sure what the other camera sensors are for, but we would guess it includes a wide-angle lens, and possibly a telephoto or macro lens or both.

The phone is shown in a shiny silver colour option with a large Realme branding inscribed on the back, similar to the Realme Narzo 10A. The Realme V5 is speculated to be the Realme RMX2121 that appeared on TENAA a little while back. The display is expected to support a high refresh rate and could be 6.5-inch in size. The phone may also house a 4,400mAh battery and support 65W fast charging.

The upcoming Realme V5 smartphone will be a 5G smartphone, but it seems unlikely that it’s a flagship phone we’re looking at here. This is likely a premium mid-range smartphone that may be powered by a mid-tier Snapdragon 765G or Mediatek Dimensity 800 chipset. According to tipster Ishan Agarwal, based on information provided by Twitter user Himanshu, the Realme V5 5G will be available with 6GB or 8GB RAM along with 128GB internal storage and will appear in Breaking Light, Blue and Silver colours.
