Redmi K90 Max gaming phone with built-in cooling fan, 8,550mAh battery launched in China

Redmi has launched a new gaming phone in China with a focus on performance and endurance. The Redmi K90 Max is the third phone in the lineup after the Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro Max. All three phones are part of Redmi’s performance-focused K-series, but the new K90 Max stands out for its built-in cooling fan. Although dedicated to gaming, the Redmi K90 Max still maintains a subtle look, and one that doesn’t stand out too much.

Let’s start with the highlight. The Redmi K90 Max has a built-in fan for heat dissipation, which is located on the rear camera island. It’s a minimalist look despite the visible cooling fan. The K90 Max’s cooling system has a high-speed cooling mode with noise levels as low as 32dB. It’s also claimed to reduce the temperature by 10 degrees in 100 seconds. The smartphone also features an aluminum alloy frame with an ultra-narrow bezel design, and has IP66/IP68/IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Redmi K90 Max has been thoughtfully designed for heavy gaming needs with its cooling system, which should help with heat dissipation during long gaming hours.

The Redmi K90 Max has a large 6.83-inch 1.5K (2772 x 1280 pixels) AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 3500 nits peak brightness. Under the hood of the phone runs the 3nm flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. For optics, the Redmi K90 Max sports a 50MP primary camera with OIS + EIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens with 8K video recording support, and a 20MP front camera. The smartphone houses a large 8,550mAh battery with 100W fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging support. This is a major upgrade over the Redmi K80 series, which comes with 7,000mAh+ batteries. It would also mean a very reliable battery life on the Redmi K90 Max, not just for gaming but regular usage as well. The Redmi K90 Max also comes with Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

In China, the Redmi K90 Max with 12GB + 256GB base variant is priced at CNY 3,499 (Rs 48,200 approx). It’s available in a total of five configurations. The Redmi K90 Max is highly recommended for users who are into gaming and tend to spend long hours on their phones. Since the Redmi K90 Max is tipped to launch as the Xiaomi 17T in India, buyers here might want to wait if they’re on the lookout for a performance-focused flagship. However, those who prioritise camera performance may want to consider alternatives.
