Redmi Note 11 SE tipped to launch in India soon and here’s why that’s confusing

Highlights
  • Redmi Note 11 SE is tipped to launch in India very soon.
  • The handset is said to be a rebrand of the Redmi Note 10S that was already launched in India.
  • The Redmi Note 10S might debut globally as POCO M5s.

Xiaomi has a habit of launching rebranded phones in various markets under the Redmi brand. In the past, we have seen the company rebrand the Redmi Note 10 5G as the Redmi Note 11 SE in a few markets. Looks like it might follow the same path yet again. Noted tipster Kacper Skrzypek claims the Redmi Note 10S (probably the one that launched in India a while ago) will be rebranded as POCO M5s in global markets. The same appears to have been confirmed via the IMEI database.

What’s more confusing is that the tipster has spotted the moniker “Redmi Note 11 SE” in the MIUI code for India. The code strings reveal that the device will be a rebrand of the already existing Redmi Note 10S. We can speculate the brand will bring it as an affordable option with some changes.

Is Redmi Note 11 SE launching in India?

Redmi Note 11 SE moniker has been spotted on the company’s MIUI code and it suggests the phone will launch in India. What’s confusing here is that the device seems to be a rebrand of the Redmi Note 10S that already exists in India. The same phone will be rebranded as POCO M5s for global markets. According to the tipster, the key differences are limited to RAM/storage.

The POCO M5s will ship with 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB storage options. The Redmi Note 10S original version is available in 8GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 6GB/64GB. The latest model runs MIUI 13 skin out of the box. It really doesn’t make any sense for Xiaomi to launch an existing phone again with a different name and specs.

Redmi Note 10S specifications

To recall the Redmi Note 10S specifications, it flaunts a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate, 700 nits brightness, 1,100 nits peak brightness, DCI-P3 colour gamut, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The handset is powered by the MediaTek Helio G95 SoC coupled with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It runs on 11-based MIUI 12.5 custom skin out of the box.

There is a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Connectivity options include two SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE and VoWiFi, dual-band Wi-FI ac, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, NFC, Infrared port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port. The phone is equipped with stereo speakers and an IP53 rating.

As for cameras, the Redmi Note 10S has a quad-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 13MP camera at the front for selfies and video chats.
