Redmi has refreshed its Pad-series lineup in India, introducing a new Pro model this time. Called the Redmi Pad 2 Pro, the tablet succeeds the Redmi Pad Pro that debuted in 2024. Launched alongside the Redmi Note 15, the Pad 2 Pro retains a largely familiar design, closely resembling its predecessor. That said, Redmi has made a few subtle refinements to freshen things up, including a new pill-shaped camera module and a textured pattern on the polycarbonate band running across the back panel, lending the tablet a more modern look.

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro also gets an upgrade in specifications, most notably in the chipset and battery. The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, which, in comparison to its predecessor’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, brings 45 percent improvements on AnTuTu score and up to 25 percent improvements in overall performance. These claims will be put to the test in our full review, so stay tuned to 91mobiles.
As for the battery, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro sees a 20 percent bump in capacity. The tablet houses a 12,000mAh battery as opposed to the 10,000mAh on the Pad Pro. This should ideally mean longer usage time, up to 83 days of standby time, 16+ hours of reading, 14+ hours of video, and 100+ hours of music between charges, per the company. But nothing is certain until the device is tested in real-world environments. The tablet comes with 33W fast charging and 27W reverse charging support.

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro’s display remains unchanged, featuring a 12.1-inch LCD panel with up to 600 nits of HBM brightness, a 2.5K resolution (2,560 × 1,600), and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. It also carries TUV Triple Eye Protection for extended screen use, along with Dolby Vision support for richer colours and improved dynamic range. Complementing the visuals is a quad-speaker setup, with two speakers positioned on each side of the tablet. Tuned for Dolby Atmos, the speakers are claimed to deliver up to 300 per cent louder audio for a more immersive viewing experience.
Software-wise, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro runs HyperOS 2, which should provide a connected ecosystem between other Xiaomi devices. The tablet also comes with Circle to Search, which lets you search anything on your screen, including images, text, products, and places, without switching between apps and Gemini AI to summarise content, help brainstorming ideas, assist with writing, and speed up research.
Furthermore, Redmi has promised five years of major OS updates and seven years of security updates for the Pad 2 Pro, offering the longest software support available on a tablet, particularly in the mid-range segment.
