Redmi Turbo 5 to debut in China with MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra SoC, 7,650mAh battery, and more

Highlights

Redmi Turbo 5 series is launching in China tomorrow, on January 29th. This is Redmi’s performance-focused smartphone series with emphasis on speed and endurance. It’s positioned in the premium mid-range and sub-flagship space, aiming to deliver a flagship-like experience without the flagship price tag. The lineup is confirmed to include two phones: Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max. So far, Redmi has been teasing the Turbo 5 Max, the top-end model in the series. This handset is confirmed to feature a 9,000mAh battery and the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. Now, a day before the launch, Redmi has revealed key details about the standard Turbo 5.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is confirmed to feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display, which would be smaller than the Turbo 5 Max’s 6.83-inch screen. This would also make the Redmi Turbo 5 more compact in terms of form factor. The handset will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset paired with LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Redmi Turbo 5 will be the first smartphone to feature this chipset, promising a 25 percent increase in GPU performance.
