Samsung is gearing up to unveil a new phone — simply known as Galaxy M Prime — and has started teasing the same on Amazon. The handset will likely be a variant of the Galaxy M31 and debut in the Great Indian Sale, which is scheduled to kick off on October 17th. Now, 91mobiles has exclusively learned from noted tipster Ishan Agarwal that the handset will actually be called ‘Galaxy M31 Prime Edition’ and that it will come in three colour options. The handset will be available in Space Black, Ocean Blue, and the new Iceberg Blue colour options. Agarwal also tells us that Galaxy M31 Prime Edition will come in only one configuration: 6GB + 128GB. The regular Samsung Galaxy M31 model, which was launched earlier this year, will also get the new Iceberg Blue paintjob.

Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime Edition specifications

Earlier, the Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime moniker was confirmed through the URL on Amazon.in, as spotted by tipster Mukul Sharma. Another leakster, Sudhanshu Ambhore, has received a mail from Amazon, upon subscribing for updates, which too confirms the phone’s marketing name.

In terms of hardware, Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime Edition seems to be pretty much the same as the regular Galaxy M31, except perhaps the new colour option. It is confirmed to come with an Infinity U-display, a quad-camera set up in a rectangular module and a physical fingerprint sensor for security. The design is pretty much the same as that of Galaxy M31. The volume rocker and power button are on the right, while the SIM tray should be on the left. The Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime Edition’s quad-camera setup includes a 64MP primary camera sensor, 8MP wide-angle lens, 5MP macro, and 5MP depth sensor. It has a 32MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The phone has support for 4K video-recording, slo-mo, AR Doodle and more.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime packs a 6,000mAh battery and supports 15W fast charging with USB Type-C. It is powered by the Exynos 9611 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB internal storage that should be further expandable via a microSD card. The phone also has face unlock support for security. Considering that Samsung hasn’t mentioned whether it’ll have an AMOLED display, we can speculate the phone may come with an LCD panel to reduce the price. We’ll have to wait for an official confirmation to see what upgrades the Prime Edition model brings to the table.
