As far as design is concerned, both the Samsung Galaxy M55 and Nord CE4 look similar from the front with a centre-positioned punch-hole display that is flat and good amount of bezels around the screen. While the Galaxy M55 gets a curved frame, the Nord CE4 goes with flat sides which has become more common to see among phones this year.

The Samsung Galaxy M55 can be purchased in Denim Black and Light Green colours. Both variants offer a simple matte finish. The Nord CE4, on the other hand, offers a marble-like finish on the rear panel if you opt for the Celadon Marble colour option.

The Samsung Galaxy M55 Super AMOLED Plus display is expected to offer lower power consumption and sunlight reflection compared to a regular AMOLED panel seen on the Nord CE4. Additionally, despite a difference of only 100 nits of peak brightness, the Super AMOLED Plus display on the Galaxy M55 should be just as bright if not brighter than the Nord CE4. As far as everything else is concerned, both phones offer the same screen size at 6.7 inches and up to 120Hz refresh rate.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 gets a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset as opposed to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC powering the Galaxy M55. That said, the OnePlus phone comes with only 8GB RAM while the Samsung device offers up to 12GB RAM. In terms of raw benchmarks, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 recorded a score of 8 lakh on AnTuTu, while the SD 7 Gen 1 on the Galaxy M55 scored around 5.8 lakh.

One expects the Nord CE4 to offer better day-to-day performance and gaming experience, though the Galaxy M55 might deliver a better multitasking experience with the 12GB RAM option.

In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G shows some versatility thanks to an additional 2MP macro camera which is missing on the Nord CE4. The primary and secondary cameras are similar between the two devices with a 50MP and 8MP configuration.

Coming to the battery, the Oneplus Nord CE4 is the clear winner as it gets a bigger 5,500mAh battery compared to the 5,000mAh unit inside the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G. Additionally, the Nord CE4 also charges faster at 100W, ensuring the phone juices up from zero to 100 percent in under 35 minutes. In comparison, the Galaxy M55 5G supports 45W charging which will take longer to fully charge the device.

While both phones offer a familiar and clean software experience, the Galaxy M55 benefits from a promise of longer software updates. The Samsung phone ships with Android 14-based One UI 6.0 and will get 4 years of major upgrades and 5 years of security updates. The Nord CE4, on the other hand, runs on Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 but will only get two years of Android OS updates.

Verdict

As you can see from the comparison, the OnePlus Nord CE4 gets a better chipset, a larger 5,500mAh battery and 100W fast charging.  However, the Samsung Galaxy M55 takes the lead with longer software support, a sharper 50MP front camera, and a Super AMOLED display. Both devices are pretty evenly matched and the choice boils down to what is more important for the buyer.
