Samsung may be preparing to widen its flagship lineup next year with a new Galaxy S27 Pro model, according to early industry reports and tipster Ice Universe. If that happens, Samsung would move from its long-running three-phone structure to four models, comprising the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Since the Samsung Galaxy S20 series in 2020, Samsung has kept things consistent with a three-model setup: standard, Plus, and Ultra. The new Pro model would change that balance by creating a second high-end option above the Plus but below the Ultra. As per Ice Universe, industry sources say Samsung’s mobile division has already decided on the direction, though details such as display size are still being finalised. The idea appears to be offering a more premium phone that borrows from the Ultra, while leaving out the stylus and any features tied specifically to it. Early indications suggest the Pro could carry over several Ultra-level features, possibly including the Privacy Display seen on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. At the same time, leaving out the S Pen gives Samsung a simple way to keep the two premium models distinct.
BREAKING! Samsung Galaxy S27 series will introduce a new “Pro” model — essentially an Ultra without the S Pen.

That means the lineup will expand to four models: Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra.
Samsung Electronics plans to add a new high-end model to the Galaxy S27…
This would not be Samsung’s first attempt to broaden its lineup. The company added the Galaxy S25 Edge two years ago, leaning into a thinner design and releasing it after the main S25 series. At one point, Samsung reportedly considered using the Edge model to replace the Plus line for the S26 series, but that plan was later dropped after market feedback. The Plus model stayed, which suggests Samsung is now being more careful about how it reshapes the range.
The Galaxy S27 Pro would be different from that earlier experiment because it is not being positioned as a replacement. Instead, it would expand the range and give Samsung more room to separate features across models. This also addresses something users have pointed out for a while. The jump from Plus to Ultra is often a big one, both in price and in what you get. A Pro model in between could make that step feel less like an all-or-nothing decision.
Apple already uses a four-model approach, with base and Air models on one side and Pro and Pro Max on the other. Samsung, by contrast, has long left the Ultra as its only true top-end option. Adding a Pro model would make Samsung’s lineup look more flexible on paper and could help it better match Apple’s tiered strategy in the premium market.
If Samsung follows through, the Galaxy S27 Pro could become the sweet spot for buyers who want a flagship feel but do not need the S Pen or the absolute highest-end Ultra features. That said, more models can also make buying decisions harder, especially if prices overlap too much.
