Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 tipped to feature same camera hardware as Galaxy Z Fold 5

Highlights
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 both feature the same primary camera setup.
  • It is now tipped that the same camera setup could be carried on to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 as well.
  • This comes as a surprise considering that the newly launched OnePlus Open made a leap in foldable camera hardware.

The world of foldables saw major new entrants in the last week, which only creates problems for the existing Samsung domination in the category. The new OnePlus Open and OPPO Find N3 feature major improvements in aspects where the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 does not excel. One of these is the cameras, which might not be getting an upgrade even next year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 to use the same cameras

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature the same camera as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, according to the tipster Ice Universe. This comes as a surprise as the brand has already used the same hardware for two generations of the foldable. The urgent need for an upgrade is also due, thanks to advancements in cameras on slab phones and even foldable counterparts.
  • To recall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 features a 50MP main camera (based on the Samsung GN3 sensor), a 12MP ultrawide and a 12MP 3X telephoto.
  • The new OnePlus Open, on the other hand, comes with an industry-first 48MP Sony LYT-T808 main camera sensor, 64MP 3X telephoto and a 48MP ultra-wide. Clearly, Samsung has some catching up to do in this department but that might not happen for next year’s model.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 was launched in India earlier this year, and it starts at Rs. 1,54,999. Samsung recently unveiled a new colour option for the flip version of the series, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 in Yellow while OPPO also launched the OPPO Find N3 Flip this month in the country.
