  • The update provides users with access to key health metrics across different parameters.
  • These announced health-based features will first debut on the upcoming Galaxy Watch.

Samsung has just announced that it will begin rolling out a Samsung Health app update starting June 8th to showcase the health features arriving with the upcoming Galaxy Watch. The update introduces several new features and health monitoring aspects, such as Vitals, to give an overview of the body’s signals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, and Fitness Index. Along with these features, the Health app is also getting a design revamp to display key information in an organised manner.

Key new features coming to Galaxy Watch

Vitals: Every morning, Vitals will analyse five key overnight bio-signals, such as heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen, and compare them to your personal baseline. It only notifies you when something is meaningfully off, helping users avoid alert fatigue while giving useful context about their recovery or potential illness.

Heart Health Score: Samsung has improved its Vascular Load metric into a more comprehensive Heart Health Score. By combining sleep, stress, activity, and body composition data, it gives users a single, easy-to-understand daily score focused on long-term heart wellness.

Daily Cardio Load: This is a smart training tool that measures cardiovascular strain and recommends optimal workout intensity and rest periods. This should be particularly helpful for fitness enthusiasts who want to train effectively without overdoing it.

Fitness Index: This feature will compare your fitness metrics (VO2 max, heart rate, steps, etc.) against people in similar age groups and deliver personalised insights and goals.

A cleaner and more intuitive Samsung Health app design

With this major update, the Samsung Health app is being revamped to display the above-mentioned insights along with other metrics in a streamlined and cohesive manner. The app will be categorised into five parts, namely Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness and Vitals. Samsung Health’s homescreen widget will display an AI-powered Energy Score based on the wearer’s activities carried out throughout the day.

The company has further enhanced existing tools and features like the Antioxidant Index and AGEs index for deeper nutritional and lifestyle insights. The update will also introduce a new Hearing Health feature, which uses the Galaxy Watch to monitor ambient noise levels and helps users protect their hearing during commutes or workouts.

While the Samsung Health update landing on June 8th will be a preview of these features, the core functionality will arrive with the new Galaxy Watch set to launch in a few months from now, presumably the Galaxy Watch 9 series. Shortly after, the update could be released for existing Galaxy Watches, like the Galaxy Watch 8 series.

With Samsung’s key rivals, such as Apple and Google, pushing hard in health tracking, Samsung is focusing on recovery signals, long-term heart health, and practical daily guidance, aspects that can be key to users. Furthermore, the combination of smarter insights, reduced notification noise, and better ecosystem integration feels like a mature step forward for the Galaxy Watch on the global stage.
