Vivo V80 with OriginOS 7 set to launch in India on October 6
Vivo has announced the India launch date for the Vivo V80, the successor to last year’s Vivo V70. The company has confirmed the phone will debut on October 6, 2026, and it will be the first V-series phone to ship with the latest OriginOS 7 software. The V80 is very much a camera-centric phone, as expected, with features like 4K Cinematic Video and AI Diwali Portrait 2.0, among others.

Vivo’s latest announcement leans heavily on the phone’s content-creation capabilities. The company says the V80 will support 4K Cinematic Video and 4K 60fps video capture, built around the idea of turning everyday moments and festive celebrations into shareable content. Alongside this, Vivo has confirmed over 30 AI-powered creative features, including something it’s calling AI Diwali Portrait 2.0, timed conveniently ahead of the festive season.

On the hardware side, Vivo has officially confirmed a 7,200mAh battery, a jump from the V70’s 6,500mAh cell. The company has also confirmed the V80 will ship with OriginOS 7 out of the box, making it the first V-series phone to launch on Vivo’s latest software.
Vivo V80 specifications still rumoured
Vivo hasn’t officially revealed the chip, RAM, display, or camera specs yet, but leaks and certifications have surfaced ahead of the official reveal. A Geekbench listing tied to model number V2648 (matching an earlier BIS certification) points to a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, the same chipset used in the V70, alongside at least 8GB of RAM. The benchmark scores from that listing (1070 single-core, 3552 multi-core) are close to the V70’s numbers, suggesting this generation’s performance jump will be modest. However, it’s best to take this with a pinch of salt until Vivo confirms the chipset.
On design, Vivo’s official teasers show a large camera plateau with two vertically stacked camera rings and a smaller tertiary sensor, a notable shift away from the squircle-shaped module on the V70, and one that looks closer to Apple’s recent Pro iPhones. The phone has been teased in orange and sky blue colourways, with Zeiss branding also visible.
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed either, though rumours suggest the V80 could launch above Rs 55,000, where the V70 currently sits following recent price hikes. Current V70 users might want to see the complete feature set and pricing before considering an upgrade.
