Vivo X Fold 6 to feature customised Dimensity 9500 Super Edition for large-screen productivity, on-device AI
Vivo has revealed new details about the upcoming Vivo X Fold 6, and the spotlight is firmly on its custom-developed chipset. The foldable will be powered by the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a special version of MediaTek’s flagship processor that has been deeply optimised for large-screen productivity and on-device AI.

According to Vivo, the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition isn’t a simple overclocked chip. The company says it began working with MediaTek two years ago to redesign parts of the platform specifically for foldables. The result is a processor that delivers a 111 percent increase in peak NPU performance while reducing power consumption by 56 percent compared to its predecessor.

The focus is clear: making AI features faster without draining the battery. Vivo claims offline speech transcription in its AI Meeting Assistant is seven times faster and 7 percent more accurate, while AI-powered text summarisation and Q&A in the File Manager are up to 20 percent quicker.
The chip also powers a major upgrade to Atomic Workbench. A new “Parallel Mode” will allow users to run four apps side-by-side on the large inner display, with each app remaining fully active and interactive. Unlike traditional split-screen modes, users can switch between shopping apps to compare prices instantly or keep maps, music, travel guides and websites open simultaneously while travelling.
Images captured during the French Open also appear to have revealed the X Fold 6’s design ahead of launch. The foldable retains Vivo’s familiar circular camera module and was spotted in a dark green finish.
Beyond productivity, rumours suggest the Vivo X Fold 6 could set new benchmarks for foldables. It is tipped to feature a massive 7,000mAh battery, something foldables lack, alongside a 200MP primary camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens.
