Vivo X300s confirmed in place of X300 Max; 144Hz display, 200MP Zeiss camera teased

The confirmation came from Han Boxiao, who revealed that the company had internally discussed using the “Max” branding because of the scale of upgrades included in the device. However, Vivo ultimately decided to retain the “s” naming convention used for its flagship X-series. According to Boxiao, the “s” in X300s stands for “SuperMax,” reflecting improvements across multiple areas, particularly performance and multimedia capabilities.

The Vivo X300s is designed for users who prefer a larger display while still expecting strong imaging performance. Vivo already offers the X300 as its compact flagship. With the X300s, Vivo would be giving users a large-screened phone with strong cameras, which isn’t too expensive like the Pro or Ultra models. The device is expected to offer a balance between photography capabilities and flagship-level performance.

One of the biggest highlights of the device is its display. The X300s will feature a 6.78-inch BOE Q10 Plus panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, making it the first smartphone in the X-series lineup to support such a high refresh rate. Vivo also claims the display will support native 144FPS gameplay in certain MOBA titles. The panel will feature Zeiss colour tuning and circular polarisation technology aimed at improving visual comfort and reducing eye strain during extended usage.

The Vivo X300s will include symmetric 1115 dual stereo speakers similar to those found on the iQOO 15, along with enhanced amplifiers and audio algorithms. According to the company, this setup is designed to produce a wider sound field and clearer directional cues during gameplay, allowing users to better detect in-game sounds such as footsteps or gunfire.

In addition to improved audio, the smartphone will also feature a large customised 4D vibration motor designed to deliver stronger and more detailed haptic feedback. Vivo says the motor will support enhanced vibration effects in more than ten popular mobile games, offering more immersive tactile responses during gameplay. Boxiao described it as the largest and most powerful vibration motor ever included in a Vivo X-series smartphone.

The X300s will include a Zeiss-tuned 200MP image sensor, although additional camera details have not yet been officially revealed. Previous reports suggest the device may feature a triple-camera system that includes a 50MP periscope telephoto lens for long-range zoom capabilities.

Earlier leaks have also indicated that the X300s could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and include a battery with a capacity of around 7,000mAh with 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging support. On the software side, it is likely to run OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. The handset is also rumoured to feature IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The Vivo X300s appears to be aimed at users who want a large-screen flagship with strong gaming performance, immersive multimedia features, and capable photography. It’s not clear where the X300s will fit in terms of pricing, but based on its predecessor, it will most likely sit below the X300. If so, then the X300s will be an affordable alternative to the X300 lineup, and with a larger screen.

For potential buyers, the positioning of the X300s may make it an appealing option for those who prefer larger displays and high refresh rates without sacrificing imaging capabilities. Meanwhile, users who prioritise the absolute best camera hardware in Vivo’s lineup may still gravitate toward the X300 Pro or X300 Ultra when it launches.
