Threads new features

The new Threads features were announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, on well, Threads. The edit button has started rolling out, and is available to users on the Android and iOS apps, and on the web as well. Threads is giving users up to five minutes to edit a post. So you can edit as much as you want but only for the first five minutes after you’ve shared the post, according to a report by 9to5Google

If you’re a Threads user, you can check if you’ve received the edit button through these steps:

  • Open the Threads app or on the web, and share a post.
  • Once you’ve done that, tap on the three-dot button.
  • Here, you should see an ‘Edit’ option on top of the list.
  • Select that and edit your post.
  • Threads also shows a timer indicating how much time you’ve got till you can edit the post.

In comparison to X, the time limit for editing a post on Threads is shorter. X lets you edit for up to 30 minutes from the time the post is shared. But since the feature is free on Threads, there’s not much to complain about. On X, you’ll have to get the paid subscription that costs Rs 650 per month, and comes with lots more perks.

Voice Threads

As the name suggests, Voice Threads are essentially posts with an audio clip. So now you can share a voice recording and post it on Threads. You should see a microphone button in the ‘new thread’ compose box just next to the gallery button. Tap on that and start recording your audio clip. Threads also provides a transcription along with the voice recording. You can also add a text with the audio clip when you share it.
