Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi Pad 8 will launch in India on March 11th, less than two weeks after their global debut on February 28th. The devices will be sold through Amazon and Xiaomi’s online store, and the microsites tell us what to expect from the devices.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, as always, sits at the top of the lineup and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. That’s the same hardware seen in current Android flagships from Samsung and OnePlus, so performance shouldn’t be an issue for everyday use or gaming. The India variant will include a 6,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi says this should deliver up to a day and a half of use, and the battery is rated to retain around 80 percent capacity after 1,600 charge cycles. The phone will ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
The Ultra’s biggest push, though, is around cameras. Globally, it features a Leica-tuned triple camera setup with a 50MP 1-inch primary sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 75-100mm mechanical optical zoom system, and a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 115-degree field of view. In practical terms, that means more flexibility with zoom and better low-light shots. These features will matter to buyers comparing the phone to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra or Vivo’s X300 series flagships that have been camera-tuned by Zeiss.
The Xiaomi 17 is expected to deliver much of the same core performance at a lower price, which may make it the more sensible option for buyers who don’t need the Ultra’s camera hardware, but still enjoy the Leica benefits. For many people, the choice will likely come down to how much value they place on photography versus overall cost.
Alongside the phones, the Xiaomi Pad 8 brings the company back into the premium Android tablet conversation. Globally priced at around EUR 449 (roughly Rs 48,000), it lands in the same range as the OnePlus Pad 3 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE. Tablets in this segment are pitched as work-and-entertainment devices, and the Pad 8 is expected to support stylus input, multitasking and cross-device features with Xiaomi phones. For users already in Xiaomi’s ecosystem, it could serve as a secondary screen for streaming, note-taking or light productivity.
India pricing for the new devices will be announced at the launch event. Globally, the Xiaomi 17 starts at EUR 999 (roughly Rs 1.07 lakh), while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced at EUR 1,499 (roughly Rs 1.61 lakh). Where the India prices land will matter, especially at a time when smartphone costs are rising across brands and buyers are thinking harder about upgrades. The Ultra may appeal to those looking for camera performance, while the Xiaomi 17 could offer a more balanced entry into the flagship tier. The Pad 8’s appeal will depend on how it stacks up against existing tablets in the same price band.
