Fresh certification sightings hint at the imminent debut of the upcoming Xiaomi 17T series. The series, expected to include the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, is shaping up to be a notable upgrade over the previous generation, and more importantly, could mark a key shift in Xiaomi’s India strategy. Xiaomi’s T series is for the global market but hasn’t made it to India yet. This could change with the Xiaomi 17T series, and its launch seems to be very close. The Xiaomi 17T Pro has surfaced on Thailand’s NBTC certification database, suggesting that a global rollout may not be far off.
The latest development follows an earlier sighting of the standard Xiaomi 17T on Singapore’s IMDA platform. While these listings don’t reveal any key specs, they collectively signal that Xiaomi is close to officially launching the devices in multiple markets.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro is tipped to bring serious hardware upgrades with a 3nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. This would be an upgrade over the Xiaomi 15T Pro, which shipped with the Dimensity 9400+, suggesting significant performance improvements. Battery life is also expected to see a dramatic leap. The upcoming model may pack an 8,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging, a significant jump from the 5,500mAh unit on its predecessor. It could also launch with IP68 and IP69 ratings and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Based on these specs, the Xiaomi 17T Pro will be offered as a flagship package for the global market.
There’s no word on whether the Pro model will come to India, but leaks have suggested the standard Xiaomi 17T might arrive here. This would make the Xiaomi 17T the first T-series generation to officially launch in India. Early leaks suggest a May timeline, with the Xiaomi 17T expected to be priced between Rs 55,000 and Rs 60,000. If this pans out, Xiaomi would be entering a highly competitive premium mid-range space in India, where buyers increasingly expect flagship-grade performance without crossing the ultra-premium price barrier. It’s also one area that’s devoid of a Xiaomi smartphone, and might fill the gap that the Xiaomi 14 Civi had left after it made an ambitious debut, but with no successor to follow.
The Xiaomi 17T series is worth watching closely. If you’ve been holding off on upgrading in anticipation of more powerful devices with larger batteries, this lineup could deliver exactly that, especially the Xiaomi 17T in the premium mid-range category.
