OPPO launched the latest version of its famed Reno series in China sometime ago, and the company has confirmed that the phones are heading to India. While a previous tip indicated a July 2nd launch date for the country, a new leak has now revealed the expected prices and specifications of the upcoming Reno 16 5G and Reno 16c 5G. The information comes from tipster Abhishek Yadav, who shared details allegedly sourced from retail units ahead of the official launch.
OPPO Reno 16 series confirmed and expected specifications
According to the latest leak, the Reno 16 5G will be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and pack a 6,700mAh silicon-carbon battery. The phone is also tipped to feature a triple 50MP rear camera setup and a 50MP selfie camera.
The Reno 16c 5G, meanwhile, is tipped to arrive with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset, a 7,000mAh battery, and a camera system comprising a 50MP primary sensor, 50MP telephoto lens, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP front shooter. Both devices are expected to ship with 8GB RAM, 8GB virtual RAM expansion, and 256GB storage.
OPPO has confirmed the India launch of the Reno 16 series through a dedicated microsite and Amazon listing. The company has also confirmed the arrival of the Reno 16c, the OPPO Bubble accessory, and the Enco Air 5 earbuds. The Reno 16 series will be available in Starry White, Twilight Violet, and Stellar Purple colour options. OPPO’s list of confirmed features includes the new AI Snap Key, Mind Space integration, and IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K durability ratings.
The Reno 16 is confirmed to feature a 6.32-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Reno 16c will offer a larger 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with the same refresh rate.
Expected pricing
As per the leak, the OPPO Reno 16 5G could be priced at Rs 59,999, while the Reno 16c 5G may launch at Rs 49,999. If true, this would represent a significant price jump over their predecessors and possibly a premiumisation strategy on part of OPPO . The Reno 15 launched in India at Rs 45,999, while the Reno 15c debuted at Rs 34,999. That suggests potential price increases of Rs 14,000 and Rs 15,000, respectively.
The Reno 16 appears to justify part of that increase with a larger 6,700mAh battery, upgraded camera hardware, and improved durability. However, the core Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset remains unchanged from the Reno 15, which could raise questions about the extent of the upgrade.
The Reno 16c is tipped to offer several notable upgrades over the Reno 15c, including a larger battery, an added telephoto camera, and a newer Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset. If the leaked price proves accurate, it would place the device in a higher segment than its predecessor.
At the leaked prices, OPPO would be competing directly with devices such as the OnePlus 15R, Vivo V70 series, and other upper premium mid-range smartphones that offer flagship-grade chipsets. Buyers interested in the Reno 16 series may want to wait for the official launch and detailed reviews, as the final value proposition will depend on OPPO’s camera upgrades, battery improvements, and design.
