Xiaomi is reportedly planning a software announcement at MWC 2026 that could matter just as much as any new hardware. According to an exclusive report from XiaomiTime, the company is expected to unveil HyperOS 3.1 globally in Barcelona, with a new ‘iOS Bridge’ designed to make its phones and tablets work better with Apple devices.
XiaomiTime, which closely tracks HyperOS development, says HyperOS 3.1 will debut alongside the global launch of the Xiaomi 17 series, with a beta rollout likely to begin during or just after the show. The update is described as more than a routine point release, with iOS Bridge pitched to break down the walls between Android and iOS ecosystems.
The report highlights three headline features. First is iOS call notification forwarding, where incoming calls on an iPhone would show up on Xiaomi tablets or PCs, letting users manage calls without picking up their Apple handset, similar in spirit to Apple’s own Continuity features, but stretched across platforms. Second is deeper AirPods support, including battery status, configuration options, and proper control mapping on Xiaomi devices, instead of treating Apple’s AirPods like generic Bluetooth headsets. Third is an AirDrop‑style wireless file transfer system for moving photos and documents directly between iPhones and Xiaomi hardware without relying on email, cloud apps, or chat workarounds.
If the features land as described, they would directly target a growing group of mixed ecosystem users who carry an iPhone but prefer a Xiaomi laptop, tablet, or TV at home. Right now, Samsung’s Multi Control and Galaxy Buds tie‑ins work best if you’re already in the Galaxy and Windows world, while Apple’s Continuity remains locked inside its own ecosystem. Xiaomi’s pitch is more flexible. It lets you keep your iPhone while still buying into its broader HyperOS ecosystem.
For buyers, the appeal will depend on how reliable and simple iOS Bridge feels in daily use. If call forwarding, AirPods integration, and file sharing work without hacks, it could make HyperOS devices more attractive as an iPad or Mac companion, especially in markets where iPhones are popular but Apple’s own larger devices remain expensive. If setup is clunky or limited to a few models, it risks becoming just another feature that most people ignore. We should get clearer answers at MWC 2026, where Xiaomi is expected to show HyperOS 3.1 on the Xiaomi 17 series and possibly announce a timeline for a wider global beta.
