The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra is a stylish camera-focused phone that gets a lot right for buyers who care about design, battery life, and versatile photography. With a premium build, a telephoto lens, and a large battery, it feels well thought out for the sub- Rs 40,000 segment. Stylish design

The Camon 50 Ultra gives an excellent first impression with its slim 7.75mm profile, light 190g weight, and matte back panel that feels premium in hand. The Cypress Green colourway is quite appealing with a classy algae green finish, while the dual-tone style around the camera island gives the phone a more polished and distinctive look.

It is also very comfortable to hold, thanks to the curved edges, and the included case adds another layer of refinement with its soft-touch texture. On top of that, the phone has great durability specs with IP66, IP68, IP69, IP69K ratings and MIL-STD-810H compliance, making it a stylish device that can also handle rough everyday use.

A capable telephoto camera system

The Camon 50 Ultra is quite special in this segment because it includes a proper telephoto lens, something that only one other phone offers at this price point. The rear setup consists of a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP 3x telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the front gets a 50MP selfie shooter.

Reasons not to buy Tecno Camon 50 Ultra

Performance is only average

The Camon 50 Ultra uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which is enough for regular everyday use, app switching, and moderate gaming. It generally feels smooth enough, but it is not performance-focused, and that shows in benchmark results as well as in heavier use.

The OS can get a little laggy at times, and heat buildup becomes more evident when the phone is used outdoors, especially during long camera sessions. That can lead to extra stutter, which makes the experience less polished than what performance-focused rivals offer.

Limited 144Hz support

The 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display looks great overall, with vibrant colours, strong brightness, and a premium in-hand experience. However, the 144Hz refresh rate is not fully available across the interface and only kicks in for a few apps, which reduces its practical impact.

That means the screen does not feel as consistently smooth as the spec sheet might suggest, especially if you are expecting the high refresh rate to be a major everyday advantage.

The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra is an easy phone to recommend if you want a stylish device with good cameras, a bright display, and excellent battery life.
