OPPO successfully concluded its ColorOS 16 workshop at the Indian Gadget Awards, turning the exciting platform innovations into a hands-on experience for a packed audience of users. Hosted alongside the awards ceremony, the workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation at an event that was attended by more than 500 community members and 100 industry experts, making it one of the most widely attended brand-led sessions at the event.
The focus of the session remained simple and practical. Instead of only talking about features, OPPO used live demonstrations to show how ColorOS 16’s AI-driven tools translate into everyday usage. From photography and note-taking to information management and cross-device continuity, the workshop revolved around real-world scenarios rather than abstract specifications.
Photography and AI editing take centre stage
A major highlight of the workshop was the dedicated photography and AI imaging session conducted by freelance content creator Abhinav Chandel. The session focused on how OPPO’s AI stack works behind the scenes to improve both image capture and post-processing.
At the capture level, attendees were introduced to two key technologies:
Through live samples, it was explained how OPPO phones intelligently balance highlights and shadows, refine subject depth and background separation, and preserve facial details with greater consistency across different lighting conditions.
AI Edit tools demonstrated live
The workshop also showcased OPPO’s growing suite of AI-based photo editing tools, all built directly into the system without the need for third-party apps. These included:
The emphasis remained on how these tools reduce the need for retakes and manual editing, allowing users to convert quick snapshots into balanced, presentation-ready images with just a few taps.
Photo contest adds hands-on engagement
To make the experience fully interactive, OPPO also hosted a photo contest during the workshop. Fifteen attendees were selected to use the OPPO Reno14 Series and OPPO Find X8 Series smartphones to capture photographs at the venue using the AI-powered camera and editing features.
After reviewing all entries, Abhinav Chandel personally selected two winners from the fifteen participants based on composition, detail, and effective use of ColorOS 16’s AI tools. The activity not only added an experiential layer to the session but also gave users a real sense of how these features perform outside controlled demos.
OPPO’s big wins at the Indian Gadget Awards
Beyond the workshop itself, OPPO also walked away with multiple major honours at the awards ceremony, reinforcing its strong positioning across both hardware and software innovation:
The “Most Innovative Smartphone Brand” title was decided entirely through user voting, reflecting strong consumer confidence in OPPO’s innovation-led roadmap.
Reinforcing ColorOS as more than just an Android skin
The ColorOS 16 workshop underlined a clear shift in how OPPO positions its software platform. Instead of being viewed as just another Android interface layer, ColorOS is now evolving into a tightly integrated system where AI, performance optimisation, and continuity tools directly influence daily smartphone usage.
By centring the session on practical tasks like photography, editing, notes, and productivity, OPPO positioned AI not as a buzzword, but as an everyday utility.
A strong close to OPPO’s presence at the Indian Gadget Awards
With a high-footfall workshop, hands-on feature engagement, a live photography contest, and three major award wins, OPPO’s presence at the Indian Gadget Awards stood out as one of the most comprehensive brand showcases at the event. For users, the workshop bridged the gap between feature announcements and real-world use. For the industry, it reinforced how software intelligence is now shaping the next phase of smartphone experiences.
