Motorola Edge 70 debuts in select global markets as the brand’s newest ultra-slim smartphone

Highlights

Motorola joined the slim smartphone race with the X70 Air that debuted in China this month. It was speculated that this phone would launch as the Motorola Edge 70 in global markets, giving the brand an edge with a more affordable offering than Apple and Samsung’s slim phones. Motorola has quietly launched the Edge 70 globally in European markets and the UK for 800 Euros and 700 BP, respectively. This translates to around Rs 83,000, which is quite steep for an Edge series phone.

We expect the Motorola Edge 70 to be priced more affordably in India since its successor, the Edge 60, launched here at Rs 22,999. With a more competitive price, Motorola would have an advantage over the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and Apple iPhone Air. The Edge 70 is Motorola’s thinnest phone, measuring 5.99mm in thickness, almost as slim as the iPhone Air (5.6mm) and Galaxy S25 Edge (5.8mm).

The Motorola Edge 70 features a 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED (2712 x 1220 pixels) display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4,500 nits peak brightness. It’s a flat display as opposed to the curved screen on its predecessor, the Edge 60. The slim phone has a 4,800mAh battery with 68W and 15W wireless charging support. It houses a 50MP primary camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera at the back, and a 50MP front camera. Under the hood of the phone runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. It’s also equipped with a 3D vapour chamber for heat dissipation.

The Motorola Edge 70 comes in three Pantone colours: Gadget Grey, Lily Pad, and Bronze Green. Each model has a different accent colour around the camera rings and the power button as well. On the software front, the Edge 70 runs Android 16 out of the box.

Motorola is expected to launch the Edge 70 in India, although no official details have been revealed yet. It’s interesting to see how much the Edge 70 will be priced here, and how it will compare against Apple and Samsung’s slim phones.
