OnePlus 12 users in India can now update to Android 16-based OxygenOS 16
OnePlus started rolling out the stable version of OxygenOS 16 earlier this month in India. This is also the first market to get the latest software update from OnePlus. The first devices in the lineup were the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s, and now the OnePlus 12 is getting the OxygenOS 16 update. For those unaware, OxygenOS 16 is based on the latest Android 16 version and comes with UI refreshments, new features, and improvements.
OnePlus 12 users in India can download the software update and start experiencing all the new features. You can check if you’ve received the update by going to Settings > System & update > Software update. The updated version is CPH2573_16.0.0.201(EX01). Once your phone is updated to OxygenOS 16, you will notice the first visible change in the keypad for the security pin, which now has a Liquid Glass-like effect but with less translucence. The same is visible in the calculator app too. The app drawer now has a separate section for categories. Here, all your apps are automatically arranged in different folders like social, photography, tools, and entertainment.
Overall, OxygenOS 16 adds smoother and faster animations, which you should see across the home screen and apps. The notification drawer and Quick Settings menu also display seamless status bar transitions with the latest update. OxygenOS 16 also brings performance improvements with the Trinity Engine for videos, gaming, and extended camera use.
The Photos app in OxygenOS 16 makes it easier to navigate with clearer categories and personalised sorting for frequently used ones. You also get advanced video editing tools such as split, merge, adjust speed, transitions, and music. OnePlus has also updated AI Notes, Recorder, Translate, Writer, and VoiceScribe with more features and improvements.
For now, only the OnePlus 12 in India is getting the OxygenOS 16 update. OnePlus plans to expand the rollout to more regions globally. OnePlus 12 launched with OxygenOS 14 out of the box. It is confirmed to get four OS updates, which means the phone will be updated until Android 18 and get two more years of security patches.
