IMDbDrive happens to be one of the best arthouse action movies ever produced. Following its theme, the movie features breathtaking action sequences which keep the audience glued to their screens. All the action numbers are so well executed and formulated into the plot and act like the icing on the cake. The main cast member of the film, Ryan Gosling has delivered a spectacular, controlled, and subtle performance. It almost seemed as if he was the perfect choice of the makers and was carved out to play this character. The first few minutes of the film work towards building the impending suspense and thrill but slowly as the plot progresses the film's character development gets done which adds to the framework making it more exciting and thrilling. It is a great movie and received exceptionally good ratings from audiences and critics all over the world. Another amazing thing about the movie is its impressive soundtrack.

In preparation for his role, Ryan Gosling restored the 1973 Chevy Malibu that his character uses in the film.
The Driver and Irene actually say very little to each other, primarily because Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan felt that their scenes should be more focused on the mood and refused to say many of the scripted lines. Mulligan summarized making the film as "staring longingly at Ryan Gosling for hours each day."
Ryan Gosling replaced Hugh Jackman.
After Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn removed much of the Driver's dialogue, Bryan Cranston felt that his character, Shannon, should make up for the lack of talking in the film, and thus made Shannon a motormouth. Much of his dialogue is improvised.
Despite the driving storyline, director Nicolas Winding Refn has no interest in cars. He doesn't have a driver's license and has failed his drivers test eight times.
"[first lines] Driver: [on phone] There's a hundred-thousand streets in this city. You don't need to know the route. You give me a time and a place, I give you a five minute window. Anything happens in that five minutes and I'm yours. No matter what. Anything happens a minute either side of that and you're on your own. Do you understand? [pause] Driver: Good. And you won't be able to reach me on this phone again."
"Driver: [on the phone with Irene] Can I talk to you? I won't keep you long. I have to go somewhere and I don't think I can come back. But I just wanted you to know getting to be around you and Benicio was the best thing that ever happened to me."
