In the 40th minute one sees the inside of a convenience store with US flags and Philadelphia newspapers. The shot then pans to a view of a convenience store across the street, Jamestown Milk. This is a Toronto shop on Parliament Street near Wellesley Street. The subsequent cemetery visit by Locke and his daughter was filmed a few blocks away.
During the squad room scene yellow coffee cups can be seen on the desks. When the angle changes the emblem for the convenience store chain Wawa can be seen. Wawa is a large Philadelphia area based chain with stores stretching from New Jersey to Florida.
Rachel Keller (Jean) and Bokeem Woodbine (Maddox) both starred in Season 2 of Fargo (2014).
In the beginning when in 1988, they are listening to a basketball game on the radio in the patrol car. The announcer says that Philadelphia "lost a heartbreaker" to Atlanta 103-101. This places the exact date as April 14, 1988.
"Locke: You know, when I kill you, you'll never be able to kill anybody. One version of me won't have to chase you. Rya: If you kill me now, the world as you know it will end in a very short time. And you have no idea what's coming. Locke: You're not the only one trying to change the past. I'll be a regular guy. [checks his gun] Locke: With a regular family. Rya: No. You don't kill me. I know you. I've known you my entire life. You were the one who told me to take this job. You taught me how to ride a bicycle. You made me my first ice cream pancakes. And you held me on the day I was born. This was my mother's. [hold up her bracelet]"
"Rya: [narrating] The voice that gave birth to a movement turned a small crack into a great divide. It drowned out the best of us, and it amplified the worst. So we found a way to silence it. We found a way to undo the damage; to un-connect the dots. I volunteered to un-tell the story."
