TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Debut theatrical feature film of director Glendyn Ivin whose short film "Cracker Bag" about six years earlier in 2003 had won the Palme D'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

This film was made and first released about five years after its source novel 'The Last Ride' by Denise Young had been first published in 2004.

This movie's "Last Ride" title drops the definite article "the" from the title of the film's source novel "The Last Ride" (2004) by novelist Denise Young.

Director Glendyn Ivin's interest in the project upon reading the script was immediate. He said: "I knew ten pages into the script that I was going to make the film. It spoke directly to me, like it was a film about and for me. It was like a gift. There was something very familiar about the characters and their world, even though it was different to my own experience. I knew that it if rang true for me, that it would probably resonate with others. It's a universal story in the way it talks about parents and children."

Nick Cole, one of the film's lead producers, first read the manuscript for the film's source novel 'The Last Ride' (2004) by its author Denise Young in early 2002, and then optioned it later that year.
