Jio AirFiber launch in India
- Airtel Xstream AirFiber is the only other commercial FWA service in India and is currently available in Delhi and Mumbai.
- This is priced at Rs 799 per month or Rs 4,435/6 months.
- The ET Telecom report says that the Jio AirFiber will launch at a 20 percent discount in comparison to the market rates.
- This means we can expect the Jio AirFiber will be cheaper than Airtel Xstream AirFiber and the former has a chance to become the market disruptor again.
- Unfortunately, the report doesn’t reveal the price of the Jio AirFiber just yet but we should know it next week.
The report adds that the company has sent test devices to select users across the country, including its employees. Sources close to this development say that Jio has begun consumer trials across locations where the 5G rollout has been completed. According to Jio’s website data, 5G is available in over 6,258 cities or towns in 36 states and union territories.
Airtel Xstream AirFiber
In comparison, Airtel launched its Xstream AirFiber in just Delhi and Mumbai. To recall, customers opting for the service need to pay Rs 799 per month (18 percent GST extra) for the 100Mbps speed and unlimited internet plan. There is also a one-time refundable security deposit of Rs 2,500. The six-month plan costs Rs 4,435. We should know Jio Air Fiber’s price and availability details next week.
