Amazon Prime Video to show ads starting next year, ad-free plan price increased

Amazon has revealed that it is planning to start showing ads in Prime Video early next year. As per Amazon, the streaming platform will feature "significantly fewer and meaningful ads" compared to traditional television and other streaming TV services. Currently, users can access Amazon Prime Video ad-free by subscribing to Amazon Prime, which start at $14.99 per month and Rs 299 monthly in India. There are quarterly, half-yearly and annual plans as well, details of which can be accessed here. With this Prime membership, users not only get all the Amazon Prime shopping perks but also receive full access to the entire Prime Video content library.

In other news, in April, a report suggested that Amazon had conducted a survey exploring the idea of changing the name of Prime Video to Amazon TV. However, it's important to note that this information is purely speculative, and as of now, the company has not officially announced any plans for such a change.
