[Exclusive] Google Pixel 8 Pro leaked video reveals design, built-in thermometer feature
The Google Pixel 8 Pro will feature triple rear cameras along with a dedicated infrared thermometer sensor, located just below the LED flash.
Update August 2025: The Google Pixel 8 series was officially launched in October 2023, and indeed, the Pro model came with a built-in thermometer to measure body temperature. The handset’s design remained identical to the Pixel 7 Pro smartphone, with a triple-rear camera and a punch-hole display.

Google’s flagship Pixel smartphone series, featuring the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is expected to launch later this year. There have been leaks and reports on the Pixel 8 series but the details are still scarce and we still haven’t seen glimpses of what the phones could look like. Tipster Kuba Wojciechowski has now exclusively shared a Pixel 8 Pro video (now taken down) with 91mobiles that reveals the phone’s full design and also demonstrates how the phone doubles as a thermometer.

The Pixel 8 Pro is seen with a punch-hole front camera much like the Pixel 7 Pro. At the rear, there are three cameras but this time Google has clubbed all three sensors inside the pill-shaped module. The Pixel 7 Pro has two cameras together and one separate at the back. The metal frame housing the camera module also looks the same as the Pixel 7 Pro. Here are some stills from the video (which has now been taken down).
One thing that is different though is the addition of a new sensor just below the LED flash. This is a dedicated infrared thermometer sensor that will be used to measure the temperature of your body. This sensor is similar to what most contactless thermometers use. A Twitter user managed to download our video and tweet it out. We’ve embedded the same below just for you! The video has a clear demonstration of how the built-in thermometer in the Pixel 8 Pro works.
You’ll have to locate the white sensor first, then make sure that there are no accessories on your forehead or skin. Then you have to bring the Pixel 8 Pro’s sensor as close to your forehead as possible but it shouldn’t touch your skin. You can then tap the start button and move the phone toward your temple within five seconds. Once your temperature is measured, the phone will vibrate and you can see your temperature.
The built-in thermometer will be available only on the Pixel 8 Pro as it requires the sensor. In addition to measuring body temperature, the Pixel 8 Pro will be able to measure the temperature of objects as well. Data collected will be stored locally and it will be handled through the Android Private Compute Core. Also, this feature is already being tested by Googlers.
If we go by tradition, the Google Pixel 8 series launch will happen in October. Based on what has been leaked so far, the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to feature Samsung’s 50MP ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor. It’s 1/1.12-inch in size which makes it Samsung’s biggest camera sensor yet. A bigger camera sensor will result in photos having better images and higher resolution as well. The Google Pixel 8 Pro is also expected to feature a 6.52-inch display. A new processor codenamed ‘Zuma’, which is most likely the Tensor G3, will power the Pixel 8 Pro.
