The results showed that all 29W or higher Apple adapters charged the iPhone 14 Pro Max at up to 27W speed. The charging speeds for the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro should also remain the same. This means Apple’s 30W USB-C power adapter will be the best charging companion for the latest iPhones.
Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro charging speeds
Apple never reveals the fast charging speed its latest iPhones support and this is why we often see individual tests being performed to determine these details. Chinese website Chongdiantou has tested a variety of Apple power adapters to reveal the charging speeds the phones support. Apple’s 30W USB-C power adapter was able to charge the iPhone 14 Pro Max at a speed of 26W/27W. Similarly, the iPhone 14 charges at 25W speed.
This is the company’s lowest-priced charger that can charge the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max at their maximum supported charging speeds of 25W and 27W, respectively. Chongdiantou notes that the iPhone 14 Pro Max was able to briefly achieve a peak charging speed of nearly 29W with Apple’s older 29W power adapter. This adapter was meant for the 12-inch MacBook and was discontinued in June 2018.
In comparison, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max are capable of 23W and 27W charging speeds, respectively. This means the Lighting charging speeds for the iPhone 14 models are more or less similar. We are hopeful the USB-C iPhone 15 models next year would bring some notable charging improvements.
