Jio Call Agent and AI-powered MyJio app announced; set to launch later this year

Highlights

Just like most major tech corporations out there, Reliance Jio is boarding the AI train by bringing a slew of functionalities to its services. Announced at the Reliance Industries’ 49th AGM, the company has revealed that it will introduce a smart Jio Call Agent and an AI-enhanced MyJio app that will act as a free personal concierge for its over 500 million subscribers. The Call Agent will be built into the Jio network and is aimed at aiding users with transcribing calls, generating call summaries, booking orders, and more.

Jio Call Agent can handle multiple tasks on call

The major limelight of the presentation is the Jio Call Agent, which can be summoned during calls simply by saying “Hey Jio.” With user permission, the AI can join conversations to transcribe discussions in real-time (supporting multiple Indian languages), identify speakers in conference calls, generate summaries, and even create actionable tasks and reminders. Furthermore, it can execute practical tasks mid-call, such as booking a cab, ordering food, or scheduling appointments, without requiring users to switch apps.

The Jio Call Agent will be available to every Jio subscriber when it launches later this year. Since the telco states that the feature will be made available for everyone, it’s safe to assume the AI Call Agent won’t be locked behind an additional paywall, and users will be able to access it regardless of the recharge plan they opt for.

The successful implementation of Jio Call Agent will not only put Jio ahead of Airtel and Vi but also act as a one-stop hub for anyone seeking a boost in their workflow. In case of professional calls, users shall be able to easily go through the conversations by having a look at the transcription when looking for an important detail, while call summaries will lay out the entire conversation in one place.
