"The latest Android Pie update for both Nokia 8 and 6 is the second major software update"
HMD Global launched the Nokia 8 (review) and Nokia 6 in India two years ago with the Android 7.1.1 Nougat software out of the box. The brand has now kept the promise of 2 years of Android updates as both these phones have started receiving the Android Pie update. Notably, the Nokia 8 started receiving the update back in December 2018 but the rollout was phased.
According to the reports, the Android Pie update for the Nokia 8 brings the February 2019 security patch along with the Android Pie goodies to the smartphone. The update file tips the scale at around 1.5GB and bears the version number V5.140. The changelog lists new system navigation, revamped settings menu, re-designed notifications as part of the update. Apart from this, the users will get Adaptive battery, Adaptive brightness, predictive app actions and Digital Wellbeing. Users can check for the update by going to Settings > About phone > System updates.

As for the Nokia 6, HMD Globals Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas to Twitter to announce, "Keeping up with our promise of 2 years of Android updates, Nokia 6 (2017) is now officially running on Android 9, Pie! Nokia phones get smarter over time." The top executive then went on to post another tweet in Hindi saying, "Namaste India! Aapke Nokia 8 ke liye pie ab tayyar hai! Aapki patience ke liye dhanyawad." This translates to "hello India! Android Pie is ready for your Nokia 8. Thank you for your patience." Notably, the update has just started rolling out and will be in a phased manner.
With this the phonemaker is almost on the brink of updating its entire line-up to Android Pie.
