OnePlus has launched the Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro in China, giving us what could be an early look at the upcoming OnePlus 16R for the Indian market. Both Ace models feature a 9,000mAh battery, a 200MP primary camera and a 185Hz AMOLED display, but differ in their processors and secondary cameras. The Ace 7 Pro gets the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, while the regular Ace 7 uses the V Series variant of the processor and an 8MP ultrawide shooter.
The OnePlus Ace 7 starts at CNY 4,399 (around Rs 63,000) for the 12GB + 256GB storage variant. The 16GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB versions cost CNY 4,899 (around Rs 70,000), CNY 5,199 (Rs 74,000) and CNY 5,699 (Rs 81,000), respectively.
The Ace 7 Pro starts at CNY 4,799 (around Rs 69,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. Its 16GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB versions cost CNY 5,299, CNY 5,599, CNY 5,999 and CNY 7,299, respectively. RAMageddon has hit China too, as the base OnePlus Ace 7 sees a price jump of CNY 1,800 (~69.3 percent) over the base Ace 6. Meanwhile, the Ace 7 Pro gets an increase of CNY 2,200 (+84.6 percent) over the baseline price of the preceding generation.
Both phones will go on sale in China on November 3rd through the OPPO online store. OnePlus hasn’t confirmed an India launch yet, but the Ace series has previously provided the foundation for the company’s R-series phones in the country. The Ace 2, Ace 3 and Ace 5 led to the OnePlus 11R, 12R and 13R, respectively. This makes the Ace 7 a possible preview of the OnePlus 16R, although the Indian model may not retain all its hardware and come with localised changes.
OnePlus has kept the difference between the two phones relatively narrow. The Ace 7 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series Mobile Platform, while the Pro gets the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Both use LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The Pro’s chipset should appeal to buyers who want the best available performance for gaming and demanding apps, but the standard model is not a mid-range alternative. It still gets a high-end processor and shares the same core hardware.
The camera is the other reason to consider the Pro. Both phones have a 200MP primary camera developed with OPPO’s flagship imaging algorithms, but the Ace 7 gets an 8MP ultrawide camera while the Pro adds a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. The telephoto camera gives the Pro more flexibility for portraits and distant subjects. Buyers who rarely use zoom photography may be better off saving the difference and choosing the standard model.
Both phones feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, a 9,000mAh battery and 100W wired charging. Their cooling system includes an integrated fan, which OnePlus claims can reduce temperatures by up to 10 degrees Celsius during gaming. They also carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, and include ultrasonic fingerprint sensors and Wi-Fi 7. Both run ColorOS 17 based on Android 17.
The shared battery and cooling hardware suggest OnePlus wants the standard Ace 7 to offer much of the Pro experience without matching its price. The Pro is for buyers who need the stronger chipset and optical zoom; the regular model makes more sense if battery life, display quality and gaming performance matter more than those extras.
Buyers shouldn’t expect the OnePlus 16R will be an exact replica of the Ace phones. The OnePlus 15R arrived with a 7,400mAh battery and 80W charging, compared to the China-exclusive Ace 6’s 7,800mAh battery and 120W charging. The same could happen with the next R-series model, so Indian buyers should not count on getting the Ace 7’s 9,000mAh battery or either chipset without an official announcement.
