OPPO launched its flagship Find X9 and Find X9 Pro (first impressions) phones globally at a conference in Barcelona on Tuesday, showcasing major improvements in battery technology and smartphone photography. Indian buyers should also be expecting the Find X9 series to appear in stores in the next few weeks, as international sales kick off via OPPO’s official store.
The Find X9 Pro commands a EUR 1,299 (around Rs 1.34 lakh) price tag for the sole 16GB+512GB model, putting it solidly in the premium flagship league. The base Find X9 is priced from EUR 999 (around Rs 1.03 lakh) for the 12GB+256GB model, and there are more configurations. The India pricing could be slightly lower.
Both the Find X9 Pro and regular Find X9 use the new Dimensity 9500 chipset, which OPPO claims offers greater performance and more efficient AI handling than the competition due to enhanced CPU, GPU, and NPU statistics. The same chipset is found in the Vivo X300 series. Real-world testing will reveal a more accurate picture once we get the devices and pitch it against competing Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones like the OnePlus 15, Xiaomi 17 series and iQOO 15.
The OPPO Find X9 series features up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The Find X9 Pro includes a huge Advanced Vapour Chamber cooling system with a whopping 36,344.4 sq mm heat dissipation area, so it can stay fast even after long periods of gaming or heavy use. OnePlus also introduced a new cooling system with the OnePlus 15, so it’ll be interesting to see the thermal efficiency of the phones pitched against one another.
The OPPO Find X9 series is pre-installed with ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, and OPPO guarantees five years of OS updates and six years of security patches, on par with that of Google and Samsung’s recent software strategies.
Moving forward, the OPPO Find X9 series feature ultra-bright FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED displays, with up to 3,600 nits brightness, making them readable in intense outdoor lighting. The screen sizes for both the OPPO Find X9 series’ models remain the same at 6.59 inches (vanilla) and 6.78 inches (Pro), compared to the preceding Find X8 series. Eye comfort is also ensured with sophisticated dimming technology and the TUV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 international certification for less strain. There is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to resist scratches and drops. Colour accuracy and vividness are boosted with 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, with rich contrast and true-to-life HDR playback on supported content through Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR Vivid. The screen also includes 2,160Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming to minimise flicker and eye strain, and the Splash Touch feature means that smooth touch response is maintained even when touching with damp fingers.
The OPPO Find X9 series joins a growing list of flagships packing a 7,000mAh-plus battery. Realme’s GT8 series kicked off the massive cell brigade in the flagship segment, followed by the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, iQOO 15 and OnePlus 15. The OPPO Find X9 Pro global model matches the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s 7,500mAh battery capacity, leading among all Android flagships, while the vanilla Find X9 has a relatively smaller 7,025mAh silicon-carbon battery. Premium segment leaders like Apple and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series have still hovered around the 5,000mAh range, but Chinese OEMs seem to be setting 7,000mAh as a new benchmark, and those not following suit may appear as outliers. The batteries on both the Find X9 series models support 80W wired, 50W wireless fast charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. OPPO says its batteries will still have a minimum of 80 percent health after five years, regardless of heavy usage.
The Find X9 Pro camera system, co-designed with Hasselblad, features a 200MP telephoto sensor combined with dual 50MP cameras for wide and ultra-wide angles. The OPPO Find X9 features a triple 50MP camera setup on the back. It includes a 50MP Sony LYT-808 main sensor (f/1.6) with optical image stabilisation (OIS) for steady shots, a 50MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.0) for expansive scenes, and a 50MP Sony LYT-600 telephoto lens (f/2.6) with OIS for clearer zoomed images. On the front, there’s a 32MP Sony IMX615 camera for selfies and video calls. The Find X9 Pro remains the only recent flagship with Hasselblad cameras as OPPO’s sister concern OnePlus moves to a proprietary camera system for its numbered flagship.
Both the phones also feature OPPO’s newest LUMO Image Engine, which provides improved image processing and realistic colour accuracy for images. For those looking for enhanced zoom feature capabilities, the Find X9 Pro also features an optional Hasselblad Teleconverter, allowing users to take up to 10x optical zoom, something that is particularly attractive for photography enthusiasts who need more detail at a distance.
OPPO’s Find X series has experienced several design enhancements over the years, and the X9 series brings in another design update. The round camera module, coming of age since the Find X6 series, has been swapped out for a rounded rectangle placed on the top-left side. The tele and main lenses are stacked vertically, and the ultra-wide lens and sensor lie alongside them in a tiny oval configuration. The Hasselblad branding underneath the module signifies OPPO’s continued partnership in camera technology. For global markets, OPPO has Silk White and Titanium Charcoal finishes available, both of which feature a clean and minimalist appearance. Velvet Red, exclusive to China, is an attempt by OPPO to customise its design options according to local markets. The Find X9 series seems to be more of an enhanced and homogenous evolution compared to a radical change in terms of design.
With the launch, OPPO seems to be targeting power users and photographers, supporting designers’ technical jump with high-end materials, striking design choices, and extended software upkeep. The Find X9 lineup tracks a growing industry trend towards larger, more energy-dense batteries with high charging speeds, and multi-year software support.
To Indian consumers, OPPO Find X9 series appears to be an attractive choice for anyone looking for a top-tier Android experience with robust performance, great display, and market-leading battery capacity, but potential consumers should take some aspects into account before buying. Though OPPO’s Dimensity 9500 chip and Hasselblad-supported cameras guarantee flagship performance, real-world benchmarking shall be the decider of how well they compare to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 competitors such as the OnePlus 15 or Xiaomi 17 Pro. The price of the Find X9 Pro is likely to be north of the Rs 70,000-mark in India, directly competing with more established flagships that provide similar or more comprehensive ecosystem integration. All of that said, if you appreciate a new design, battery life to last an eternity, and camera flexibility powered by OPPO’s colour science, the Find X9 range might well be a purchase worth considering.
