After several leaks and rumours, OPPO has officially confirmed the launch of the Reno 17 series in China. The launch announcement comes shortly after it was leaked that OPPO is planning to launch the Reno 17 series in China next month. OPPO has also confirmed that the Pad Air 6 and Watch 5 will launch alongside the Reno 17 series.
OPPO announced on Weibo the launch of the Reno 17 series, Pad Air 6, and Watch 5. Pre-orders for all three products are also live in China, so those interested can go ahead and pre-book them. OPPO’s Zhang Ruoxing also shared a teaser video along with the launch announcement. The video shows three objects representing each device. For the Reno 17, it’s a small tub of glitter, indicating the phone will feature a glittery or shimmery design.
Both the Reno 15 and Reno 16 series offer unique designs with a glittery finish. This has been the aesthetic for the Reno series, and OPPO appears to continue the same strategy with the Reno 17 series. What we can confirm is that the Reno 17 series will definitely offer a premium and stylish design.
OPPO has yet to reveal the number of phones it’s launching with the Reno 17 lineup. Leaks suggest the Reno 17, Reno 17 Pro, and Reno 17c/Reno17F. The Pro variant and the standard Reno 17 would be the ones to watch out for. The Reno 17 Pro is tipped to feature a 6.32-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It could be powered by the Dimensity 8500 Super chipset and pack a 7,000mAh battery.
The Pro variant is also rumoured to get a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. Up front could be a 50MP selfie camera. OPPO could also launch the Reno 17 Pro with telephoto converter support, making it a first for the Reno series. The Vivo S70 is also tipped to come with the same feature.
As for the standard Reno 17, it’s rumoured to launch with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, a 7,000mAh battery, and feature a 50MP triple camera setup. This is the same chipset as the Reno 16, so there might not be significant upgrades in the standard model.
With the launch confirmed, we should soon know everything about the OPPO Reno 17 series. For now, it looks like the Reno 17 series would be worth waiting for if you want a good-looking phone with versatile cameras in the premium mid-range segment. However, since specifications are based on leaks now, it will be better to wait for official details before jumping to conclusions.
