As Realme prepares to launch its flagship phone, the GT 8 Pro in India on November 20th, the brand could also introduce a new budget device. The Realme C85 is tipped to launch in India later this month. It would succeed the Realme C75, which launched at a starting price of Rs 12,999. The interesting thing here is that the Realme C75 is said to closely resemble the recently launched Realme 15x in terms of specifications, according to the tipster Abhishek Yadav. The tipster adds that the difference would be a less powerful camera on the Realme C85.
Realme hasn’t announced any details on the C85 smartphone, but it did just launch in Vietnam, so we might see the handset arrive in India too. Also, the Realme 15x and the Realme C85 in Vietnam share the same specifications except for the front camera. Based on this speculation, here’s what to expect from the Realme C85 if it launches in India.
The Realme C85 could feature a 6.8-inch HD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,200 nits. This is one of the highest refresh rates available, and one that’s rare in the budget segment. It should deliver a smooth scrolling experience normally, and during gaming as well.
The Realme C85’s highlight would be its 7,000mAh battery, one of the largest in this segment. If the phone is launched at the same price of Rs 12,999 as its predecessor, then the Realme C85 would be the most affordable phone with a 7,000mAh battery. At present, the Redmi 15 and POCO M7 Plus hold the title. Coupled with this could be 45W fast charging support and 6.5W reverse charging for the Realme C85. For its expected price range, this is a solid combination and a perfect fit for anyone looking for a battery-specific smartphone.
The Realme C85 will most likely be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, as both the 15x and C85 in Vietnam use the same SoC. For the Realme 15x, the chipset choice didn’t fit as the phone is priced at Rs 16,999, and the Dimensity 6300 can be found in a phone under Rs 10,000. But for the Realme C85, it might just work, but there would be stronger alternatives like the Lava Play Ultra and iQOO Z10x.
For photography, you’ll get a 50MP Sony IMX852 camera at the back and an 8MP on the front. This could be the differentiator between the Realme C85 and the Realme 15x, as the latter has a 50MP front camera. Despite the downgrade, the camera setup is still quite decent for its price. Realme is also expected to add AI features such as AI Edit Genie, AI Landscape, and AI Eraser to the handset.
As mentioned above, the Realme C85 launch is only speculated for now, and nothing official has been confirmed. But considering its expected price segment and the 7,000mAh battery, the Realme C85 could turn out to be a top contender for a budget phone with a massive battery.
