Realme GT 8 Pro to launch with interchangeable camera modules: here’s how they look

Highlights
  • The Realme GT 8 Pro will feature three camera designs.
  • Each of them is interchangeable, according to Realme’s teaser.
  • Realme GT 8 Pro is launching next month with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

Now that Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, we can expect to see a line of Android flagship phones debut with this chipset soon. Among these is the Realme GT 8 Pro, which is even claimed to launch as the first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone in India. It’s confirmed to debut next month in China, so we can expect it to arrive here very soon. But instead of the chipset, what might be the Realme GT 8 Pro’s highlight could be its interchangeable cameras. Realme has teased that the GT 8 Pro will feature three different camera modules that you can switch between.

Realme shared a teaser video of the GT 8 Pro’s camera design on the Chinese social media site Weibo. Here, we can see three interchangeable camera designs. The Weibo post (translated) reads, “Disassembled, assembled, and interchangeable.” This suggests that you’ll be able to remove and replace the camera module on the Realme GT 8 Pro. The sensor placement is the same, with two sensors on top and the periscope below them. The overall design is varied, featuring a circular design, a square design, and one that resembles a robot’s face. We’re not sure how exactly this will work, but users will most likely get three camera modules to interchange, according to their preference.

One of the camera designs, the robotic one, was actually spotted in a leaked image shared by tipster Digital Chat Station. It’s essentially a square design, but with two screws on each side, which ultimately gives it a robotic look. Of the three, this would be the most unique one. Overall, the phone in the leaked image has a flat design with a metal frame. It looks pretty sleek and clean, fit for a flagship phone.

The interchangeable camera module concept seems interesting, and it could be something refreshing for consumers. Itn might not be as dramatic or innovative as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s rear display or the Nothing Phone (3) Pro’s Glyph Matrix. Still, it’s worth reserving judgment until the Realme GT 8 Pro’s official unveiling to see how it performs in practice.

While we wait to see what Realme has in store for the GT 8 Pro’s camera design, we can expect some impressive performance. With the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Realme GT 8 Pro is reportedly claimed to have scored over 4 million on the AnTuTu benchmark, a staggering number. Its predecessor, the Realme GT 7 Pro, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite scored over 2.8 million in AnTuTu conducted internally. The 8 Elite Gen 5 is designed to offer improved performance over the previous generation, but we’ll have to wait for the final review to see if the claims add up and how the phone performs in real-world scenarios.

The Realme GT 8 Pro is expected to debut in October, with a launch in China initially, followed by expansion to other markets, including India. Its predecessor, the GT 7 Pro, arrived in India last November at a starting price of Rs 59,999, positioning itself as one of the more affordable flagships compared to brands like Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi. If the GT 8 Pro again lands around Rs 60,000, it will undercut ultra-premium phones from Samsung and Apple, while battling performance-focused flagships like the OnePlus 15, iQOO 15, and the new Xiaomi 17.

For buyers, this could mean flagship-grade performance and a novel design at a price still below the Rs 80,000 bracket, where Samsung and Apple typically operate. If you’re performance-driven or like the idea of a personalised camera design, the GT 8 Pro might be worth waiting for. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 promises a step up for gamers and power users, while Realme’s pricing history suggests better value than ultra-premium rivals. Waiting for early reviews will help clarify whether the modular camera idea is a gimmick or genuinely helpful.

The Realme GT 8 Pro may not flaunt the flashiest gimmicks we’ve seen this year, but its combination of cutting-edge performance, competitive pricing, and a fresh spin on design makes it one of the more intriguing flagships to watch this fall. For buyers, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 promises a genuine leap in speed and gaming capability, while the modular camera system, if executed well, could offer a rare sense of personalisation in a market where phones often look the same. That said, early reviews will be crucial in distinguishing between practical innovation and novelty.
