Realme has officially showcased the design for its upcoming flagship, the Realme GT 8 Pro. We also get a first look at the Realme GT 8 Pro’s interchangeable camera module. The smartphone will come with three different camera designs. The announcement came directly from Xu Qi, Realme’s Vice President and Global Marketing President, highlighting a phone that mixes unique hardware with top performance.
Interchangeable camera module on the Realme GT 8 Pro
Realme had been teasing this modular camera design for the GT 8 Pro. It has now officially revealed the different designs and how the modular functionality will work on the phone. This feature lets owners easily take apart, put together, and switch out the camera module. Users can replace the camera’s outer frame with different shapes and looks, giving the phone a completely new style.

Options for the interchangeable camera deco include square, round, and a “robot” style. The phone will ship with a circular metal camera ring as standard. Early buyers will also receive a free kit with a square-shaped metal trim and a matching case. Realme’s teaser video shows several design options, colours, and some quirky ones as well.
The Realme GT 8 Pro will also come in different colours: White, Blue, and Green. Each variant’s swappable camera module will come in matching colours too. However, it’s not confirmed how many of these accessories will be available for consumers outside China, especially in India. Overall, the Realme GT 8 Pro’s design looks sleek and premium, and the swappable camera module does make it stand out. It also gives buyers flexibility over the design, which might seem limited otherwise.

The smartphone is also confirmed to feature a matte AG glass back and a matte metal frame. The back panel of the phone has been made with recycled paper-like leather, which is said to be a unique paper-like texture that leaves each unit with a distinct mark.
Realme is also partnering with Ricoh Image for exclusive photography enhancements on the GT 8 Pro. The smartphone will feature two classic Ricoh GR focal lengths: 28mm and 40mm. Here, 28mm is for full street stories with rich details, and 40mm for “moments of emotional peak”. It will also offer five exclusive Ricoh GR tones: Standard, Positive Film, Negative Film, Monotone, and High-Contrast B&W.
More features include Viewfinder Mode in GT 8 Pro, which hides all extra settings, the Customized Tone function to adjust effect parameters, Ricoh GR-style watermarks, and dedicated albums with GR labels.
Realme’s efforts for advanced camera technology come amid OEMs getting serious about smartphone photography. New and upcoming flagships like the Vivo X300 Pro launched with a dedicated camera kit for increased focal lengths. The OPPO Find X9 Pro is also getting a Hasselblad photography kit with a lens extender, magnetic grip, and more. The idea behind all the extra accessories and fine-tuning is to offer DSLR-like capabilities on the smartphone.
Realme GT 8 Pro will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with the R1 gaming display chip. Although not the first, the R1 gaming chip is said to have been upgraded to support games at QHD resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate display. The smartphone supports 90 FPS and 144 FPS as well. Realme has also bumped the battery capacity to 7,000mAh from 6,500mAh on the GT 7 Pro, with charging still at 120W, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Realme is launching its flagship series in China on October 21st. It’s confirmed to arrive in India as well. Alongside the GT 8 Pro, we’ll also get the vanilla GT 8.
Realme GT 7 Pro launched in India at a starting price of Rs 59,999. In our review, we found that the GT 7 Pro is a strong flagship contender that blends powerful hardware, polished software, and premium features at a competitive price. It also offers a vibrant 6.78-inch AMOLED display, versatile cameras, an IP69 rating, 120W fast charging, and AI enhancements. Image processing and heat management were some of its drawbacks, but the GT 7 Pro still delivered a balanced, high-performance experience that’s hard to overlook.
If the GT 8 Pro improves on these issues, then it would be a frontrunner in the flagship race. Since the phone is confirmed to launch in India, stay tuned for our review to find out how much of an upgrade it offers and how it compares with other models.
