Realme GT Neo 5 Pro launch tipped after unknown device gets certified in China

Highlights
  • Realme GT Neo 5 Pro could be launched in China by September this year
  • Word on this comes courtesy of an unnamed device’s certification this month
  • However, not much is known about the Realme GT Neo 5 Pro as of now

Realme showcased its GT Neo 5 smartphone in China in February this year, and followed it up closely with a global showcase at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress in March under the name Realme GT 3. Given that there was a GT Neo 5, general precedent in the modern smartphone world would infer that there will, at some point in time, be a ‘Pro’ version of the smartphone as well. Now, according to a new device certification screenshot reported through Chinese social media platform Weibo, the Realme GT Neo 5 Pro has been certified in China — thus implying a potential upcoming launch.

Realme GT Neo 5 Pro: what we know so far

However, it would be prudent to state that most details about the purported Realme GT Neo 5 Pro are speculative at the moment, and there have been no concrete word about it. The said certification, posted on Weibo by highly consistent tipster Digital Chat Station, showcases two smartphones bearing internal nomenclatures, RMX3820 and RMX3823. The latter are speculatively said to be two upcoming versions of the Realme GT Neo 5 Pro — and there could even be a Pro Plus variant, too.

Not much is known in terms of the specifications that the smartphone will offer. The Realme GT Neo 5 featured a 6.7-inch OLED display with 1.5K screen resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC from Qualcomm, up to 16GB LPDDR5x memory and 512GB UFS 4.0 internal storage, a 50MP triple rear camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging.

Given that the upcoming smartphone is said to be a ‘Pro’ variant, some things are expected to be different. A Gizmochina report on the smartphone claims that the Realme GT Neo 5 Pro is expected to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, expectedly the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2. The latter is rumoured to release by July this year, which could make the Neo 5 Pro one of the first smartphones with the new chipset.

More details should surface soon, should word on the new smartphone hold merit.
