Realme seems to be readying its next Neo series phone. New leaks suggest the Realme Neo 8 launch is expected to take place in January 2026, almost a year after the arrival of the Realme Neo 7 in December 2024. The phone is said to launch in India and international markets as the Realme GT 8.
The leak comes from tipster Abhishek Yadav, who has shed light on the possible launch timeline, international branding and a few specifications of the phone. He says the Neo 8 will initially launch in China followed by a global launch under a different name, possibly the Realme GT 8. Realme has previously rebranded the Neo series as GT models for international markets. For context, the Realme GT 7 came to India in May 2025, and the debut of the GT 8 could fall in line within the brand’s launch cycle.

As per the tipster, the Realme Neo 8 is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. This suggests the company is focussing on offering near-flagship performance, targeting users interested in speed, gaming and long-term usability. The phone is expected to feature an AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate, while other leaks suggest a flat LTPS panel with 1.5K resolution and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.
Moving on, battery life could be one of the Neo 8’s biggest strengths, as has been the case with multiple flagships recently. Recent reports, including one from tipster Digital Chat Station, claim the phone will pack a large 8,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging. Meanwhile, a Realme device with model number RMX8899, believed to be the Neo 8, has also appeared on China’s 3C certification site, confirming the 80W charging support. The certification doesn’t reveal the battery capacity though.

Apart from this, DCS suggests the Neo 8 will come with a metal body and glass back, an X-axis linear motor that provides a better haptic experience, and newer connectivity options like Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It is also tipped to offer IP68 or IP69-level dust and water resistance. On the software front, the phone is expected to ship with Android 16 running Realme UI 7. There are no details regarding the camera features, except that there could be a 50MP primary sensor.
If the Neo 8 does make its way to India as the Realme GT 8, it would sit below the Realme GT 8 Pro in the lineup, which launched in India last month starting at Rs 72,999. The GT 8 Pro has premium features like a QHD+ AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and a more advanced camera system that includes a 200MP telephoto lens.
Compared to that, the Neo 8 seems to be focusing on being a more functional and performance-oriented phone, with battery life being the main priority compared to camera add-ons. If Realme sets the pricing right, the device might attract users looking for a fast and lasting phone, but not wishing to enter the premium space.
