Vivo V80 Lite with 10,000mAh battery to launch globally on September 3rd

Vivo has confirmed the Vivo V80 Lite 5G will launch in Malaysia on September 3rd with a 10,000mAh battery. It will be the company's first globally launched phone with a battery of this size.

[highlights]

The Vivo V80 Lite will be the company's first globally launched phone with a battery of this size.

The phone will feature a flat design, a 50MP main camera and black, green and pink colour options.

Its India launch and final specifications remain unconfirmed.

[/highlights]

Vivo is taking a battery pitch this time with its V-series. The company has confirmed that the Vivo V80 Lite will launch in Malaysia on September 3rd and will pack a 10,000mAh battery, making it the company's first globally launched smartphone with a battery of this capacity.

The phone had appeared earlier on an Indian retailer's Instagram page, suggesting an India launch could also be close. However, the design shown by Vivo Malaysia differs from that earlier teaser, leaving some questions around how the Indian model will look.

Vivo V80 Lite design and battery revealed

The Malaysian version of the Vivo V80 Lite 5G will feature a flat frame and flat rear panel, with black, green and pink colour options. A square camera module houses a 50MP primary sensor. The 10,000mAh battery is the biggest talking point. While this is not Vivo's first phone with a 10,000mAh cell as that distinction belongs to the Vivo Y600 Pro launched in China, the V80 Lite is the first globally launched model to reach this capacity.

The move comes as battery capacity is becoming an increasingly common differentiator in the mid-range segment with the advent of cheap Si-C technology. As OEMs cut corners across more expensive components like storage and performance, battery seems a feasible area to compensate with. Realme and Honor have already introduced phones globally with 10,000mAh batteries and Redmi is catching up with the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max later this month.

There were indications earlier that Vivo could be reusing hardware from the Vivo S2 for some markets. The V80 Lite has appeared under several model numbers across certification databases, with the V2576 particularly interesting because it's also associated with the S2. If the connection holds, the V80 Lite could feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 50MP Sony IMX852 main camera, 8MP ultrawide and 32MP selfie camera. Aura Light, stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint recognition and IP68/IP69 protection are also tipped.

There is still uncertainty around the chipset and charging. Reports have pointed to both the Dimensity 7360 Turbo and Dimensity 7300e, while certifications have suggested 44W charging rather than the previously rumoured 90W.

The V80 Lite could be worth waiting for if long battery life, an AMOLED display and design are priorities. A 10,000mAh battery could give the V80 Lite a clear advantage on paper, although the phone's weight, thickness and charging speed will determine how useful that capacity is in everyday use.

POCO X8, X8 Power India launch tipped; could come with up to 10,000mAh battery

The POCO X8 Power could become the company's first 10,000mAh phone, as per a new tip. The POCO X8 should also launch soon.

[highlights]

The POCO X8 Power could become the brand's first 10,000mAh phone.

Both phones are tipped to launch in India in September.

They will join the POCO X8 Pro and POCO X8 Pro Max in the lineup in India.

[/highlights]

POCO could be preparing to push battery capacity into new territory with its upcoming X8 series in India. According to tipster Sanju Choudhary, the POCO X8 Power is in development with a 10,000mAh battery, which would make it the first POCO phone to reach that capacity.

Another tipster, Debayan Roy, has suggested that the POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power will arrive in India around September. The X8 Power is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, which is scheduled to launch in Malaysia on August 27th. Notably, POCO Global has already started teasing a new phone.

POCO X8 Power

According to Choudhary, the POCO X8 Power could feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3,840Hz PWM dimming and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone is tipped to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, although a lower variant could use UFS 2.2. The camera setup is said to include a 50MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide and 32MP front camera. The phone could also carry IP68 and IP69 ratings while measuring 8.68 mm thick. Choudhary claims it will receive four OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

The 10,000mAh cell will be the headline feature. POCO's existing POCO M8 Power, launched in India at Rs 24,999, already packs an 8,000mAh battery, while the recently launched M8x offers a 7,900mAh cell from Rs 18,999. The X8 Power would take POCO's battery-focused strategy considerably further. That's the only thing that makes sense for OEMs now as tSi-C technology allows manufacturers to pack big-numbered cells without increasing the cost too much. With rising prices due to the memory crisis, that's a sigh of relief.

POCO X8

Roy suggests the standard POCO X8 could be positioned below the X8 Power and arrive with a 9,000mAh battery and AMOLED display. It's tipped to use the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, which would make it a more performance-focused option than the lower-priced M8 series, but below the X8 Power.

Roy claims the Redmi Note 17 is effectively the POCO M8 Power, while the Redmi 17 5G corresponds to the POCO M8x. The Redmi Note 17 Pro is expected to become the POCO X8, with the Note 17 Pro Max reportedly becoming the X8 Power.

If the two phones launch in September, POCO could have a strong battery proposition against rivals in the upper mid-range segment. However, buyers should wait for official pricing before deciding, as a 10,000mAh battery alone does not guarantee better overall value. Display quality, charging speed, chipset performance and phone weight will matter just as much for a device intended for everyday use.

Intel research finds six in ten leaders plan robot fleets within five years

Intel's new report reveals a hidden robotics gap: 60% of leaders want robot fleets by 2030, but do they actually have a plan to run them?

Robots are no longer a distant ambition for most large organisations. They are a five-year plan. But according to new Intel research, the urgency to deploy is outpacing the readiness to manage what comes next.

New research commissioned by Intel finds that robotics adoption is accelerating faster than organisations can operationally support it. The study, titled "The Robotics Readiness Gap", surveyed 800 senior business and IT leaders, robotics specialists, and government and healthcare officials across the US, UK, Germany, Japan, China, and South Korea, all from organisations with annual revenue exceeding $500 million.

The central finding is a straightforward disconnect. Six in ten leaders expect their organisation to operate a fleet of robots within five years. But in reality, only four in ten currently have a formal strategy to manage a mixed human-robot workforce. The gap between ambition and readiness is the report's defining tension.

"The next phase of robotics adoption won't be defined by whether organisations can deploy robots, it will be defined by whether they're ready to scale them. Those that embed robotics and Physical AI into their core operations, rather than layering them on top of existing systems, will be the ones who capture the full value of this shift." John Healy, Vice President and General Manager, Industrial and Robotics Division, Intel

Five factors separating success from stalled pilots

Intel's research identifies five areas where that readiness gap shows up most clearly:

On strategy, 67% of leaders are confident their organisation will be ready to manage a mixed human-robot workforce by 2030, yet only 40% have a formal plan in place today. Confidence is running well ahead of preparation.

On skills, two-thirds of leaders believe robotics will make their human workforce more skilled rather than less. At the same time, four in ten say talent availability is actively blocking them from scaling robotics beyond the pilot stage.

On safety, 31% of leaders cite safety as the area where robotics has delivered the greatest value. Yet 55% say safety concerns have delayed deployment, and 68% believe clearer global safety standards would help accelerate adoption a signal that regulatory uncertainty is a meaningful brake on the industry.

On shape, 77% of leaders say robotic performance matters more than appearance. But 65% believe current robot form factors are dictated by technology limitations rather than real-world operational needs, suggesting the hardware is still catching up to the use case.

On scale, more than three-quarters of leaders say critical robotics applications require decisions within 100 milliseconds, with nearly a quarter requiring responses in under 10 milliseconds. Currently, 42% of organisations have a defined and funded edge or on-device AI strategy, with 39% actively developing one. The remaining 19% are operating without a clear path to the low-latency infrastructure that scaled robotics demands.

The Physical AI layer

Intel frames the report within its broader push into Physical AI, bringing AI-powered perception, reasoning, and decision-making into dynamic industrial environments. Intel is positioning its edge AI silicon alongside the Intel Robotics AI Suite and OpenVINO Physical AI tools. Together, these form the essential infrastructure layer for organisations. This foundation should enable companies to move seamlessly from pilot deployments to scaled operations.

The research also notes that organisations already deploying robots report measurable gains in productivity, quality, and speed of service. This increasingly treats robotics as a competitive necessity rather than an experimental project. Leaders predict full-scale deployment could double operational output.

The readiness gap Intel has identified is not primarily a technology problem. It is a strategy, skills, and infrastructure problem. Meanwhile, closing it will determine which organisations capture the value of the robotics shift and which ones remain stuck at the pilot stage.

"Work in the future will be a partnership between humans, agents, and robots all powered by artificial intelligence." This excerpt is taken from a McKinsey Global Institute report published nine months ago. Click here to read the full report.

The workplace is changing fast. Robots aren't just in factories anymore, they're in hospitals, stores, and offices. The good news is that they aren't here to take our jobs. Instead, they are being built to work alongside us and help us do things better. Because of better technology, today's robots can actually learn and adapt to what humans need. They are becoming our teammates rather than just basic tools.

But getting humans and robots to work together smoothly is a big challenge. It means we literally have to rethink how we manage our teams and design our workspaces. More importantly, look at the future of work so that people are still the main focus.

ColorOS 17 update roundup: expected release timeline, eligible phones, features and more

Here's the list of OPPO, OnePlus, and Realme devices eligible for ColorOS 17, along with the update's release timeline, features, and more.

The ColorOS 17 release will be an interesting one this year, since the update will be rolled out not only to OPPO devices but also to OnePlus and Realme devices. This comes as part of OPPO's efforts to offer a unified software experience across all its brands by combining resources to build and maintain a single mobile software platform. As a result, OxygenOS and Realme UI are being axed in favour of ColorOS 17 on OnePlus and Realme devices. Furthermore, as the name suggests, ColorOS 17 will be based on Android 17.

This update is expected to be announced soon, since several players, such as Google, Samsung, Motorola and a few others, have already announced or released their Android 17-based skin. On that note, here's everything you need to know about ColorOS 17's expected device list, features and improvements, implications for OnePlus and Realme users, and more.

ColorOS 17 release timeline

Since OPPO, along with OnePlus and Realme, will adopt ColorOS 17 as part of their Android 17 rollout, the official announcement could be made soon. The first official hint of the skin's presence came in the form of the ColorOS 17 closed beta recruitment announcement, which began on August 6th for multiple OPPO, OnePlus, and Realme models in China, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

While the closed beta application page didn't explicitly state it's the ColorOS 17 update, such rollouts are generally reserved for major updates. If past track record is anything to go by, the closed beta testing could last for four to five weeks, after which the open beta programme could begin. The closed beta update is limited to just 300 users on a specific device, while the open beta update is available for all to download directly.

The first set of devices receiving the ColorOS 17 closed beta update includes:

OPPO: OPPO Find X9 Pro, OPPO Reno 15 Pro, OPPO Reno 15 Pro mini

OnePlus: OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R

Realme: Realme GT 8 Pro

ColorOS 17 unified design and features across OPPO, OnePlus, and Realme devices

Since the eligible phones from all three brands will run ColorOS 17, one can certainly expect the smartphones to feature a shared design language and features. However, as was the case with OxygenOS 16 and Realme UI 7, which featured their own sets of homescreen icons, different quick settings sliders, and a distinct About Phone page compared to ColorOS 16, it remains to be seen whether the same will apply to OnePlus and Realme devices on ColorOS 17.

That being said, the core design of ColorOS 17 is likely to be implemented across all smartphones. Meaning the design of every first-party app, menu, setting, and core visuals will be the same.

OPPO devices eligible for ColorOS 17 (expected)

Since ColorOS has been the proprietary custom skin for OPPO devices, ColorOS 17 could be released for the following devices:
<table class="wp-table" style="border-collapse: collapse; However, based on the hints dropped by ColorOS' Director and a few leaks that have popped up recently, here's what to expect on ColorOS 17:

Core experience improvements: Per Chen Xi, the Design Director of ColorOS, the new update will focus on improving the core experience, resulting in faster performance, greater efficiency, and improved system stability. From what we can tell, since ColorOS 15 and 16 already introduced a variety of new features across AI, customisation, and productivity, it makes sense for ColorOS 17 to further refine the UI.

Brand new Software Update screen: Right after ColorOS 17 closed beta went live for the OnePlus 15, Smartprix exclusively posted the 'Software Update' screen found on the new ColorOS version. The page will include a transparent section with the changelog for the latest update.

Rounder elements across the UI: ColorOS 17 is tipped to carry more rounder elements in several parts of the UI. From pop-up menus to buttons to section menus within first-party apps, one can expect the UI to flaunt rounder corners.

More prominent glass and light aesthetics: ColorOS 16 introduced the Luminous Rendering Engine, which enabled the UI to display hints of glass and glowing light elements in key areas, such as homescreen folders, lockscreen clock, buttons within first-party apps, and more. ColorOS 17 could further improve upon this engine to make the effects more prominent and visually appealing.

[caption id="attachment_702239" align="alignnone" width="1200"] OxygenOS 16 elements for reference[/caption]

FAQs

When will ColorOS 17 be released?

OPPO, OnePlus, and Realme could announce ColorOS 17 by mid-October 2026 at the latest, as ColorOS 16 was unveiled during the same timeframe last year.

Will ColorOS 17 bring a major visual redesign?

OPPO's ColorOS Design Director has confirmed that ColorOS 17 will focus on refining the core experience and improving stability, performance, and smoothness, rather than introducing a major UI overhaul or adopting a "Liquid Glass"-like design in a heavy way.

Will it be possible to downgrade from Android 17-based ColorOS 17 to Android 16?

As has been the case with ColorOS in the past, users are likely to be offered the option to downgrade from Android 17-based ColorOS 17 to Android 16. In fact, OnePlus has assured that it'll provide the procedure for users willing to switch back to OxygenOS 16 if they don't find ColorOS 17 to be on par with OxygenOS' signature design and look or specific features.

Which devices are expected to get ColorOS 17 first?

Early priority is expected for recent flagships such as the OPPO Find X9, Find X9s, Find X9 Pro, Find X9 Ultra, OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, and Realme GT 8 Pro. Besides that, the OPPO Find X10 series and OnePlus 16 could boot ColorOS 17 out of the box at launch.

Vivo T5 5G launching soon in India; price range and Flipkart availability confirmed

Vivo is set to refresh its mid-range lineup in India with the launch of the Vivo T5. Here are details on what to expect in terms of features and price range.

[highlights]

Vivo has confirmed the upcoming Vivo T5 through a Flipkart microsite, with the phone set to launch soon in India.

The T5 5G is teased with OriginOS, a GenAI-ready NPU, and a 0.799cm-thick body.

Vivo has said the phone will launch in the Rs 34,999 - Rs 49,999 range.

[/highlights]

Vivo is expanding its T5 series in India with another 5G smartphone. The Vivo T5 5G has appeared on Flipkart, confirming that the phone will be sold through the e-commerce platform when it launches. Vivo hasn't yet announced the launch date, but the teaser gives an early look at its design and price range.

Vivo T5 India launch, price range

The Vivo T5 is teased to come with OriginOS and a GenAI-ready NPU, suggesting that AI features will be a key part of its pitch, like all mid-range phones these days. Vivo also claims it will have the segment's slimmest 3D curved display in the Rs 34,999 to Rs 49,999 price segment, with the phone measuring just 0.799 cm in thickness.

Vivo has already launched four T5-series models in India, including the T5 Lite, T5 Pro, T5e and T5x. The upcoming T5 will sit between the T5 Pro and T5x and mostly start under Rs 40,000, given the disclaimer in the teaser. The launch announcement comes at a time when he Vivo T5 Pro 5G just saw a huge price hike. It originally started at Rs 29,999 when it launched in April but now costs Rs 41,999, while the T5x 5G starts at Rs 24,999. That leaves considerable room for another model in Vivo's portfolio. The wider smartphone market is also dealing with rising memory costs, which are putting pressure on manufacturers to raise prices. A new T5 model could therefore give Vivo a way to offer a newer design and features at a different price point.

The Vivo T5 5G will enter a segment that already includes its recently launched cousin, the iQOO Z11, OnePlus Nord CE 6 and Realme 16. The iQOO Z11 is particularly relevant because it launched in the same sub-Rs 40,000 segment and could lend some of its specifications to the T5. Since we don't know anything concrete about the Vivo T5, we could get a bit of an idea from the iQOO Z11. It comes with a curved 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, 144Hz refresh rate and MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset. It also packs a 7,050mAh battery, 50MP main and 8MP ultrawide cameras, IP68 and IP69 ratings, and OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. With the Z11 already offering a strong hardware package, Vivo will need to differentiate the T5 5G beyond its slim profile and curved display.

For buyers considering a phone in this range, it may be worth waiting for the T5 5G's launch if a slim design and curved display are priorities.

Lava Bold N4 Lite launching in India next week, key design details officially revealed

Lava has officially revealed the launch date for the Bold N4 Lite in India, along with key design details.

[highlights]

The Lava Bold N4 Lite could succeed the Bold N2 Lite.

The Lava Bold N4 Lite is likely to carry 4G-only capabilities.

The smartphone will be sold online via Amazon.

[/highlights]

After launching the Lava Bold N2 5G in India a couple of months back, the homegrown brand is set to bring another offering in the Bold N series: the Bold N4 Lite. Likely to be a 4G-only smartphone, the device's teaser has gone live on Amazon, while revealing its launch date and design details.

Lava Bold N4 Lite confirmed launch date

Per the Amazon teaser, the Lava Bold N4 Lite will be unveiled in the country on August 27th at 12 PM. Lava's Bold series has generally been associated with an affordable price tag, allowing it to target the mass market seeking a smartphone for basic use. The Bold N4 Lite could be positioned similarly, offering an essential set of specifications and features.

Lava Bold N4 Lite design details

While the teaser doesn't reveal much, the phone appears to be covered by a cloth, with only the bottom and side portions visible, including the volume and power buttons, speaker grille, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Type-C port. Much like previous releases from Lava, the phone flaunts a light golden colour, while another colour shade could also be in tow.

The phone is confirmed to feature a MIL-STD-810H military-grade rating for drop and shock resistance. This should ensure the device doesn't sustain significant damage when dropped or bumped against hard surfaces, provided the impact isn't severe.

Along with subtly revealing the phone, the teaser promotes Lava's free home service, allowing users to get issues with their phone fixed in the comfort of their home. That's all that has been revealed for now.

Since Lava didn't release the Lava Bold N3 Lite, the Bold N4 Lite appears to be a direct successor to the Bold N2 Lite, which was launched in April this year. For the uninitiated, the Bold N2 Lite featured a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 28mm-based Unisoc SC9863A chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, a 13MP primary camera, and a 5,000mAh battery. The phone ran Android 15 Go at launch.

The Lava Bold N4 Lite could feature upgraded specifications and be priced accordingly. Besides that, given rising memory costs, we won't be surprised if the Lava Bold N4 Lite launches at a significantly higher price than the Lava Bold N2 Lite to offset high component costs. That said, buyers interested in a durable, basic-use smartphone can wait until the official launch on August 27th for full specifications and pricing before deciding whether to get the Bold N4 Lite.

Apple macOS 26.7 update appears to reveal more than 10 upcoming products

A new Release Candidate version of macOS 26.7 has spilled the existence of over 10 unreleased Apple products. Here's what to expect.

[highlights]

Apple's macOS 26.7 Release Candidate contains references to more than 10 unreleased products, including new iPhones, Macs, iPad mini, AirPods and smart home devices.

The leaked references include Apple's first foldable iPhone, OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models, a new Home Hub, and camera-equipped AirPods.

The software also appears to reference an OLED iPad mini with an A19 Pro chip and upcoming M6-powered Mac models.

[/highlights]

Apple may have accidentally offered a preview of its next wave of hardware. The macOS 26.7 Release Candidate contains references to more than 10 unreleased products, ranging from a long-rumoured foldable iPhone and OLED MacBook Pro to new smart home devices and camera-equipped AirPods, according to MacRumors.

The references do not confirm launch dates or final specifications, but they add weight to several products that have surfaced in reports over the past few months.

Apple Smart Home products

Among the more interesting discoveries are references to Apple's upcoming Home Hub, which is expected to be the company's first dedicated smart home controller. The device, reportedly carrying the J490 and J491 identifiers, is said to run a new homeOS platform, with one version designed for wall mounting. Earlier reports have suggested a price of around USD 350 (Rs 33,500).

The software also references a next-generation HomePod mini under the B525 identifier, compared with B520 for the current model. Another product, listed as Home Accessory (J229), is believed to be Apple's long-rumoured security camera.

If these products arrive, Apple would be stepping into a smart home market dominated by Google and Amazon, both of which already offer smart displays, speakers and security cameras. Apple's advantage could instead come from tighter integration with Siri, Apple devices and its broader ecosystem.

Foldable iPhone, OLED MacBook Pro and more

The macOS build also references several iPhone identifiers, including V62, V63, V64, V67 and V68. These have previously been associated with the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 and Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Ultra.

Reports suggest the Pro models and foldable iPhone could arrive in September, while the regular iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 may follow in spring 2027. The foldable would put Apple directly against Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series and Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold, making it one of the company's most significant new products in years.

On the Mac side, J804 is believed to be a 14-inch MacBook Pro with Apple's upcoming M6 chip, while J833 and J834 reportedly correspond to new iMac models. Four other identifiers appear to be linked to MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and touchscreens, potentially marking a major change to Apple's long-standing approach to Mac displays.

OLED iPad mini and camera-equipped AirPods

The next iPad mini is also referenced through the J510 and J511 identifiers. It's expected to bring an OLED display and an A19 Pro chip, which would give Apple's smallest tablet a significant display upgrade over the current model. Perhaps the strangest discovery is a video showing AirPods with cameras. The earbuds could use those cameras alongside Visual Intelligence to understand objects and surroundings, pointing to Apple's broader push to bring AI features into more of its hardware.

Anyone considering a MacBook Pro, iPad mini or AirPods upgrade may benefit from waiting if their current device is still usable, while buyers who need a product now should base the decision on officially announced hardware rather than internal code names.

The phone also gets a premium leather finish, improved durability features and a long update policy, positioning it as a device built around endurance and everyday usability. Let's take a deeper look at its features and specifications below.

POCO M8x: price in India

Variants

Effective price

Non-offer price

4GB + 128GB

Rs 18,999

Rs 20,999

6GB + 128GB

Rs 20,999

Rs 22,999

The offer price includes a Rs 2,000 discount coupon. The POCO M8x is available in three colourways, which include Leather Green, Blue, and Black.

POCO M8x: features, specifications

The 7,900mAh battery is the biggest highlight of the POCO M8x and should help users get through long days of streaming, browsing, gaming and social media without reaching for a charger. It supports 45W fast charging, while 22.5W reverse wired charging allows the phone to top up other compatible devices when needed.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, which makes its India debut with the M8x. POCO has paired the chipset with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, providing the hardware needed for everyday apps, multitasking and lighter gaming.

On the front, the M8x gets a large 6.9-inch LCD HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate and Wet Touch 2.0, which should keep the touchscreen responsive when your fingers are wet or the phone is used in light rain. The panel also gets Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for added protection against everyday scratches and wear.

The phone has a 50MP dual AI camera on the rear and an 8MP front camera. POCO also includes features such as AI Night Mode and AI Erase, while Circle to Search with Gemini provides a quicker way to look up information from the screen.

The M8x uses a premium leather-style finish and carries an IP64 rating, giving it some protection against dust and water splashes. It also features dual stereo speakers with up to 300 percent volume boost, which should make videos, music and calls easier to hear without headphones.

On the software side, the phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and comes with 4 years of OS updates and six years of security patches. This makes it a more appealing option for buyers who plan to keep their device for several years.

Should you buy the POCO M8x?

The POCO M8x makes a strong case for buyers who prioritise battery life, but it faces competition from phones such as the OnePlus N6 (review), which also focuses heavily on endurance. The OnePlus N6 packs an 8,000mAh battery and 45W charging while offering a 120Hz display and the clean OxygenOS experience.

The POCO M8x, however, has an advantage in a few areas, which includes a slghtly better chipset, a larger display and longer software support with 4 major OS updates. For users who want the best possible battery life, the OnePlus N6 remains a good alternative, while the POCO M8x could make more sense for those who value long-term software support and a more feature-rich overall package.

It is available in four memory configurations, giving buyers more options to choose from. In comparison, the OnePlus Nord CE6 (review) starts at Rs 37,999 and is offered in just two variants. However, its base model comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is more affordable than the Z11 for the same configuration.

Variant

iQOO Z11 price

OnePlus Nord CE6 price

6GB + 128GB

Rs 34,999

NA

8GB + 128GB

Rs 39,999

Rs 37,999

8GB + 256GB

Rs 44,999

Rs 41,999

12GB + 256GB

Rs 49,999

iQOO Z11 vs OnePlus Nord CE6: display, design

The iQOO Z11 features a large 6.83-inch 1.5K (2800×1260 pixels) 3D AMOLED curved display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 2000-nit high-brightness mode. The display also supports HDR10+, Amazon Prime Video HDR, and Netflix HDR. The curved design adds to the immersive experience of watching content. The OnePlus Nord CE6, on the other hand, offers a flat 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 3,600 nits peak brightness, and 1,800 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM).

Both phones offer similar display hardware, with the choice depending on whether you like flat or curved screens.

Design is distinct for both phones but minimalist and premium at the same time. With the iQOO Z11, you get curved edges with a horizontal camera bar at the back. It's a tall and slim frame measuring 7.99mm thick. The handset comes in Celestial Blue and Aurora Green colours. The OnePlus Nord CE6 has a flat frame with a simpler and cleaner look. It's slightly thicker than the Z11 and heavier too. The handset has three colour options to choose from: Fresh Blue, Pitch Black, and Lunar Pearl.

In terms of durability, the iQOO Z11 gets IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Nord CE6 comes with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings and MIL-STD-810H certification, adding extra protection.

iQOO Z11 vs OnePlus Nord CE6: chipset

The iQOO Z11 is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset and is the first phone to launch with this chipset in India. The chipset is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage along with a 3800mm2 vapour chamber for heat dissipation. In comparison, the OnePlus Nord CE6 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. It uses the same UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR4X RAM, but a bigger 5,000mm2 vapour chamber for cooling under heavy load.

Both phones are expected to perform similarly when it comes to regular usage or heavy gaming, but the Nord CE6 could handle heat better.

iQOO Z11 vs OnePlus Nord CE6: battery

The iQOO Z11 packs a sizeable 7,050mAh battery with 44W fast charging support. This battery capacity is among the larger capacities in this segment. It should be suitable for both regular and power users. You also get bypass charging on the Z11, which means you can charge the phone while gaming without having to worry about the phone heating up. The OnePlus Nord CE6 offers a bigger 8,000mAh battery with faster 80W SuperVOOC charging. It also supports reverse charging at 27W and bypass charging.

The Nord CE6 offers a larger battery and faster charging, which may be better suited to users who prioritise endurance and quicker top-ups. The Z11, meanwhile, also packs a sizable battery that should comfortably handle typical day-to-day usage.

iQOO Z11 vs OnePlus Nord CE6: cameras

For photography, the iQOO Z11 houses a dual-camera setup with a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Up front, the handset features a 32MP camera for selfies. The OnePlus Nord CE6 has a similar setup with a 50MP primary camera, but it uses a 2MP secondary lens instead of an ultra-wide. For selfies, the Nord CE6 also gets a 32MP front camera.

Both phones offer capable camera setups for everyday photography and social media, while the iQOO Z11 offers added versatility with its ultra-wide camera.

iQOO Z11 vs OnePlus Nord CE6: software

On the software front, the iQOO Z11 runs OriginOS 6.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. The handset will get three major Android upgrades (up to Android 19) and five years of security updates. It also comes with AI features for productivity such as AI Captions, AI Creation, AI Routing, Conversation Memory, and Circle to Search. The OnePlus Nord CE6 also runs Android 16 with OxygenOS 16 layered on top. Its software update policy includes two major OS upgrades (up to Android 18) and four years of security patches. It also comes with AI features such as AI Eraser, AI Portrait Glow, AI Writer, AI Translation, and AI Voice Scribe.

Both phones offer a customisable and interactive UI with several AI features. The Z11 is more secure long-term as it offers an extra OS upgrade and longer security patches.

Summing up

Overall, the iQOO Z11 and OnePlus Nord CE6 offer a fairly balanced package, with each taking a different approach in key areas. Both feature similar displays, although the Z11 stands out with its 3D curved panel while the Nord CE6 opts for a flat screen. Their chipsets are expected to deliver comparable performance, with the OnePlus phone having the advantage of a larger vapour chamber for thermal management.

The Nord CE6 also packs a larger battery and faster charging, while the Z11 offers a more versatile camera setup with an ultra-wide lens. On the software front, the iQOO Z11 gets the advantage with longer software support.

Qualcomm officially teases dual flagship chips for Snapdragon Summit 2026

Qualcomm has officially started teasing its long-rumoured strategy of two flagship chips this year. Here's what to expect.

[highlights]

The two new chips will likely be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

The Pro model is tipped to feature an Adreno 850 GPU, 18MB graphics cache, LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage.

Snapdragon Summit 2026 is scheduled for September 22nd to 24th in Maui, Hawaii.

[/highlights]

Qualcomm has officially confirmed what the leaks were saying all along. The chipmaker appears ready to expand its flagship Snapdragon lineup this year, with a teaser pointing to two new chips arriving at the Snapdragon Summit 2026. The company says consumers should expect "Dual 8 Elites", with improvements to connectivity, cameras and gaming across both processors.

The Snapdragon Summit will take place from September 22nd to 24th in Maui, Hawaii, where Qualcomm is expected to reveal more about its next generation of flagship silicon.

Expected key differences

Qualcomm's teaser does not name the processors, but recent leaks point to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Both are expected to use a 2nm manufacturing process and next-generation Oryon CPU cores in a 2+3+3 configuration.

The next chapter of the agentic AI era begins at #SnapdragonSummit.

When Two Changes the Game. The Pro is also expected to support LPDDR6 RAM, compared with LPDDR5X on the regular variant, along with UFS 5.0 storage and Qualcomm's new X105 modem.

Leaked information also points to a 5.0GHz-or-higher clock speed for the Pro, potentially helped by advanced cooling technology. An AnTuTu 11 result of around 4.83 million points has surfaced for the chip. That is only around a 5 percent improvement over the roughly 4-4.6 million points seen from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in some tests, although leaked benchmark results from unfinished hardware aren't a reliable measure of final performance.

The Pro could also introduce features such as AI Frame Fusion, which may allow games to render at lower resolutions and upscale frames to improve efficiency without sacrificing smoothness.

Qualcomm's decision to split its flagship platform into two tiers may have economic sense behind it. Smartphone prices have been climbing, with even sub-flagship and entry-premium models increasingly starting above Rs 60,000 in India. A regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 could therefore give brands a way to build acceptable standard flagships in the Rs 70,000 - Rs 80,000 range without pushing component costs too high. The Pro, meanwhile, could be reserved for Ultra-level flagships, gaming phones and high-end foldables where buyers are already paying a premium. This approach would manufacturers greater flexibility in pricing and positioning, which is what OEMs have been struggling with during the higher memory cost component crisis plaguing the industry.

For buyers, a standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 phone should still deliver flagship-class performance, making it the more sensible choice for most users. The Pro's advantages may matter more to gamers, power users and buyers considering devices such as the Xiaomi 18 Pro/Pro Max, Samsung's Galaxy S27 Ultra or iQOO's new compact tablet, where features like faster memory, graphics performance and connectivity can better justify the higher price.

Qualcomm is expected to confirm the names, specifications and devices for both chips at the Snapdragon Summit in September.

Vivo has expanded its Y-series portfolio in India with the launch of the Vivo Y31t 5G, a new budget smartphone.

[highlights]

Vivo Y31t 5G price in India starts at Rs 25,999.

The handset packs a 7,200mAh battery.

Vivo hasn't officially launched the Y31t 5G online.

[/highlights]

Vivo has expanded its Y-series portfolio in India with the launch of the Vivo Y31t 5G, a new budget smartphone. The new Vivo 5G phone is being sold directly through retail stores, according to a report by 91mobiles Hindi. The Vivo Y31t 5G has a large 7,200mAh battery, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, and a 50MP primary camera.

Vivo Y31t 5G price in India

The Vivo Y31t 5G is priced at Rs 25,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. It comes in two more variants with up to 8GB RAM but the same storage capacity. Tipster Sanju has also shared a post on X saying that the Vivo Y31t 5G will launch at a starting price of Rs 25,999. However, it's not clear if the phone will be available online.

Variant

Price

4GB + 128GB

Rs 25,999

6GB + 128GB

Rs 29,999

8GB + 128GB

Rs 34,999

It comes in Mint Green and Ruby Red colour options. Vivo is also offering a Rs 1,500 bank discount.

Vivo Y31t 5G specifications

The biggest highlight of the Vivo Y31t 5G is its 7,200mAh battery, which is among the largest battery capacities in this segment. The handset comes with 44W fast charging support. With this battery capacity, you should get more than a day's juice depending on your usage. It should be enough for both casual and power users alike.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, paired with an Adreno 613 GPU. It runs Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box. While the processor should handle everyday tasks comfortably, buyers looking for gaming-focused performance may find better options at this price.

The phone features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and up to 1,200 nits of brightness. It also gets DC dimming, low blue light, and eye-protection features. While the HD+ resolution has become standard for this segment, thanks to price hikes, you might still find alternatives with a better display.

For photography, there's a 50MP primary camera paired with a 2MP secondary sensor. An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. This camera setup is pretty standard for phones in this price segment. The Vivo Y31t 5G also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The Y31t 5G is best suited to buyers who prioritise battery endurance and durability with its 7,200mAh cell and IP68/IP69 protection. However, the HD+ display and entry-level Snapdragon chipset mean performance-focused users should compare alternatives before buying, especially at the Rs 25,999 starting price.

Thinking of buying a foldable? Waiting for Diwali may not pay off this year

Waiting for Diwali discounts on foldable phones this year may not be wise this year. Here's why.

If you've been waiting for the festive season to buy a foldable, there's a case for moving a little sooner this year. Smartphone prices are already under pressure from a global memory shortage, a weaker rupee and higher logistics costs linked to the conflict around the Gulf. At the same time, the latest crop of foldables has arrived with some pretty cool upgrades - from Samsung's new Fold8 form factor to Google's more AI-focused Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Motorola's lower-priced Razr Fold.

It doesn't necessarily mean prices will spike before Diwali, or that festive sales won't still bring attractive offers. But with several cost pressures moving in the wrong direction at the same time, waiting purely for a sale may not be the safest bet.

Memory shortage

The biggest problem is sitting inside almost every smartphone: memory. The global AI boom has redirected significant memory manufacturing capacity towards high-bandwidth memory used in data centres. That has squeezed the supply of DRAM and NAND used in phones and pushed up component costs. Counterpoint-linked industry data suggests memory costs have already contributed to smartphone price increases of around 15 percent in India, while IDC expects average smartphone selling prices globally to rise further in 2027.

This matters even more for foldables because they sit at the premium end of the market. A typical flagship foldable carries substantial amounts of RAM and storage, often across higher configurations, so rising memory costs have a more noticeable impact on the bill of materials. More importantly, this doesn't look like a shortage that will simply disappear by the festive season. Industry forecasts suggest memory supply could remain tight well into 2027 as manufacturers continue prioritising AI-related demand. That makes the usual wait-for-Diwali strategy a little less recommended this year.

Rupee depreciation and shipping costs

Memory isn't the only pressure on smartphone prices. The rupee has remained weak against the dollar, which matters in a market where a large portion of the smartphone supply chain is dollar-denominated. The conflict around the Gulf is another variable as disruption around the Strait of Hormuz has affected shipping routes and increased freight and war-risk costs. Indian businesses have reported significant increases in landed costs on some routes, while freight rates have also risen.

Brands can absorb some of these increases or adjust their margins, so it would be premature to assume every additional cost will simply appear on the retail price. But manufacturers are dealing with higher component, currency and logistics costs simultaneously. That makes a large festive-season price cut harder to guarantee than it would be in a normal year.

Buying the right foldable at the right time

Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold range is one reason the current buying window is worth considering. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 (review) starts at Rs 1,79,999 in India, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (review) starts at Rs 1,99,999. The Ultra is interesting for buyers who have been holding out for a more refined large-screen foldable. It measures 8.9 mm when folded and weighs 215 grams, while offering an 8-inch inner display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and a 200MP primary camera.

There is also a more immediate reason to consider Samsung's current generation. The regular Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a new form factor for the series, with a wider inner display and a different aspect ratio aimed at making the phone more comfortable to use both folded and unfolded. It also weighs 201 gms, making it the lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet. That is a genuine improvement for a category where weight has long been one of the compromises buyers have had to accept.

The Fold8 Ultra takes the more conventional route of packing in as much flagship hardware as possible. At Rs 1,99,999, it remains just below Rs 2 lakh, while bringing the 8-inch display, 200MP primary camera and 45W wired charging. Neither phone is inexpensive, but the latest generation makes the case for buying a foldable today stronger than it was a few years ago. The hardware is getting thinner and lighter, the software is more mature, and the large-screen experience is no longer quite as experimental.

Samsung isn't the only brand making a case for buying a foldable now. Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold has launched in India at Rs 1,86,999, while Motorola's Razr Fold (review) offers another option at a considerably lower price. The Pixel has some advantages, including a 5x optical telephoto camera and brighter 3,600-nit displays, but Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra remains ahead in several hardware areas that matter for a premium foldable. It's thinner and lighter, has a larger battery and faster wired charging, and its 200MP primary and 50MP ultrawide cameras are considerably more ambitious.

Google is putting Gemini at the centre of the Pixel experience, while Samsung has built its AI features around contextual assistance and the multi-window workflows that have become central to the Galaxy Z Fold experience. Motorola's Razr Fold, meanwhile, brings the price of entry down for the segment. That makes it worth considering for buyers who primarily want a foldable form factor without moving towards the Rs 2 lakh bracket. But there is now a broader spread of options rather than one obvious choice in the category.

Should you wait for the festive sale?

Normally, waiting for Diwali would be sensible advice. Older flagships tend to get discounts, exchange bonuses and bank offers, and foldables are no exception. This year, however, there are enough variables working in the opposite direction to make waiting purely for a discount less attractive. Rising memory costs, a weak rupee and higher logistics expenses could force brands to protect their margins by raising prices or limiting the depth of discounts.

If you already know you want a foldable and have a budget of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, the current generation gives you plenty of choice. The Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a changed form factor, while the Fold8 Ultra pushes Samsung's flagship foldable hardware further. Now is probably a better time to buy than to wait purely for Diwali discounts. The market has enough cost pressure working against lower prices, and the latest generation of foldables is already mature enough to make the upgrade worthwhile.

Infinix Hot 70 Pro confirmed to launch in early September, design and colour options officially revealed

The Infinix Hot 70 Pro with multiple colour options in tow is confirmed to launch soon in India.

[highlights]

Each colour option of the Infinix Hot 70 Pro flaunts different textures and materials.

The phone could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100.

The Infinix Hot 70 Pro will carry a rear display called Active Matrix Cube

[/highlights]

After a tip surfaced about the Infinix Hot 70 Pro's launch timeline, the company has officially confirmed that the smartphone will debut in India in September. Along with the launch timeframe, Infinix has today revealed the full design of the Hot 70 Pro, including the colour options it'll be available in. Completing the rear camera lenses is the Active Matrix Cube, a small display comprising multiple LEDs that light up when receiving notifications, calls, alerts, and other events.

Infinix Hot 70 Pro launch timeline and design teased

While the exact date isn't out yet, the Infinix Hot 70 Pro will land in India in the first week of September, as officially confirmed in the press release. Confirmed to feature four colourways, the Hot 70 Pro will carry a 'Dynamic Shine Design', which the company claims is inspired by the concept of Living Design, which brings the smartphone's colours, materials, and finishes into harmony with the surroundings.

Each colour option of the Infinix Hot 70 Pro will flaunt unique textures and finishes. The Thermo Orange variant changes the back panel's colour based on temperature; the Mirage Green adapts to nighttime conditions; the Silk Glow Purple changes patterns when tilted; and the Dive Blue option features a matte finish. Infinix says the purpose behind giving the phone's colours a unique approach is to instil design innovation.

Active Matrix Cube

The Active Matrix Cube is an interactive lighting system on the back of the phone, turning it into a dynamic visual canvas. The AMC reacts to notifications, music, gaming, charging and more, making information more visual and interactions more engaging.

Previously, we've seen similar rear display approaches from Nothing and POVA, in which a small LED-based display on the rear helps users access information without turning on the smartphone's screen. Integrating such elements helps the smartphone stand out and creates a bit of chatter when one spots it in public, leading to higher brand awareness.

The company also notes that amid rising smartphone prices, it is focused on delivering value to buyers wherever possible. Rather than going for high prices, it's committed to bringing relevant features that matter to consumers.

Since the Infinix Hot 70 Pro is already available globally in some markets, the handset could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100, carry a 6,500mAh battery, and feature a 50MP Sony primary camera. Since no pricing information has been provided, we will only know which segment the smartphone will sit in closer to the launch. The Infinix Note Edge, featuring the Dimensity 7100, offered us a reliable day-to-day experience that could potentially carry over to the Hot 70 Pro.

If you've been seeking a smartphone that features multiple poppy colour options, it could be worth waiting for the Hot 70 Pro's launch. Especially with rear display support, it could help reduce the urge to check your phone every time you receive a notification, as the display will let you know whether it's an urgent notification you need to act on immediately.

OPPO Reno 16 5G 8GB+128GB variant tipped to launch in India to lower starting price

The OPPO Reno 16 could soon start at a lower price in India, but that won't be courtesy a price cut. Here are the details.

[highlights]

OPPO is tipped to launch an 8GB + 128GB Reno 16 variant in India at around Rs 60,000 - Rs 62,000.

The existing Reno 16 starts at Rs 66,999 for 8GB + 256GB.

A tipster claims OPPO will launch its F35 series soon in India.

[/highlights]

OPPO could be looking to make its latest Reno series phone easier to buy without changing its core hardware. The company is tipped to introduce a lower-storage version of the Reno 16 in India, which would give buyers another option below the phone's existing configurations. The move comes as OPPO continues to expand its Reno and F-series portfolios in the country.

OPPO Reno 16 new version tipped

Tipster Sanju Choudhary claims OPPO is preparing an 8GB + 128GB version of the Reno 16 5G, with a price of around Rs 60,000 to Rs 62,000. The existing phone starts at Rs 66,999 for 8GB + 256GB and goes up to Rs 72,999 for the 12GB + 256GB version.

The OPPO Reno 16 uses a 6.32-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness. It's powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The camera setup includes three 50MP rear cameras - a primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto camera offering 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. The front camera is also a 50MP sensor. Both front and rear cameras can record at up to 4K 60fps. A 6,700mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC charging powers the phone, while IP69K certification provides dust and water resistance. The Reno 16 runs ColorOS 16 based on Android.

The tipster also says OPPO is preparing its F35 series for launch, although there is no confirmed launch date or specification information for those phones yet.

Should you buy the OPPO Reno 16?

The proposed 8GB + 128GB model would give the Reno 16 a lower entry point, but its value will depend on the final price. At around Rs 60,000, there is competition from OPPO's own Reno 15 Pro Mini. Launched in India in January, it starts at Rs 59,999 for 12GB + 256GB and costs Rs 64,999 for 12GB + 512GB, so there's a clear price advantage. It has the same 6.32-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a more powerful Dimensity 8450 chipset, 200MP main camera, 50MP selfie camera and 6,200mAh battery with 80W charging. Both phones run ColorOS 16.

The Reno 16 brings a newer platform, a larger battery and a more evenly distributed 50MP camera setup, while the Reno 15 Pro Mini offers more RAM and storage at similar pricing, a more capable chipset, a compact form factor and a better resolution camera. Buyers interested in the Reno 16 should therefore compare the final price as 128GB is rather insufficient storage relative to the asking price.

Nothing has officially teased the launch date for Nothing OS 5.0.

[highlights]

The Nothing OS 5.0 community review programme is likely already underway for Phone (3)

Nothing Phone (4a) series and Phone (3) will be the first set of devices to receive the update

The update could bring more personalisation options.

[/highlights]

With smartphone players like Google, Samsung, OPPO, Xiaomi, Motorola, and others hopping on the Android 17 bandwagon, Nothing has officially revealed the launch date for Nothing OS 5.0. Set to be based on Android 17, the company has seemingly already started a community review programme by inviting Phone (3) users to try out the next iteration of Nothing OS, even though the community post doesn't explicitly state the programme is meant for Nothing OS 5.0.

Nothing OS 5.0 announcement date is here

Nothing OS 5.0 is all set to be officially unveiled on August 25th at 11:00 BST (3:30 PM IST). This comes from a post by Nothing on X, with the caption "More joy, every day".

More joy, every day.
Nothing OS 5.0 25.08.
11:00 BST pic.twitter.com/OThGjRCSH6
— Nothing (@nothing) August 20, 2026

As has been the tradition, Nothing's newest mobile software skin will likely be showcased through a YouTube launch event on the stated date and time. Users can expect a host of new features, customisation options, and, most importantly, confirmation of whether their Nothing smartphone will be eligible for the update.

What to expect on Nothing OS 5.0

As of now, there have been no hints of what Nothing OS 5.0 is set to bring from both official and unofficial channels. But if we were to dissect Nothing's announcement post, the caption "More joy, every day" could hint at improved ways to personalise your phone. Meaning, the update could introduce more widgets, icon packs, lockscreen clock styles, etc. Furthermore, the posted video showcases animated gradients in various colours, possibly indicating that OS 5.0 will bring colourful elements to the UI.

List of devices eligible for Nothing OS 5.0

Based on the number of OS upgrades promised at launch and the number of major upgrades they've already received, here's a list of Nothing devices expected to get Nothing OS 5.0:

Nothing Phone (4a)

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro

Nothing Phone (4b)

Nothing Phone (3)

Nothing Phone (3a)

Nothing Phone (3a) Lite

Nothing Phone (3a) Pro

Nothing Phone (2a)

Nothing Phone (2a) Plus

CMF Phone 2 Pro

Nothing's first two smartphones, the Phone (1) and Phone (2), are unlikely to receive the update as they've reached their end of life, while the CMF Phone 1 will also miss out on Nothing OS 5.0.

To get your hands on the update at the earliest, Nothing is likely to launch a beta programme starting with the newest devices, such as the Nothing Phone (4a) series and the flagship Phone (3). Following the successful trial of Nothing OS 5.0, the update should be rolled out to all users in stable form. All details, including the beta programme date, official list of devices, and upcoming features, will be announced on August 25th, so stay tuned to 91mobiles for coverage on Nothing OS.

ASUS expands desktop lineup in India with VM240 AiO and new accessories: check price, specifications

ASUS has launched the VM240 AiO and four new accessories in India, including a new mouse, keyboard, and more, with prices ranging from Rs 999 to Rs 66,990.

[highlights]

ASUS has launched the VM240 AiO and four new accessories in India.

The VM240 AiO features a 24-inch display and up to Ryzen 5.

The new ASUS products start at Rs 999 and go up to Rs 66,990.

[/highlights]

ASUS has launched the VM240 AiO in India alongside four new accessories, covering a keyboard, wireless mouse, keyboard-and-mouse combo and HDMI cable. The new products target different use cases, from everyday work and learning to gaming. Let's look at them in more detail below.

ASUS VM240 AiO for everyday computing

The ASUS VM240 AiO combines a 24-inch display with an adjustable tilt design and a slim 22mm stand for keeping desks organised. ASUS positions the all-in-one PC for everyday work, learning, browsing and entertainment. The system can be configured with up to an AMD Ryzen 5 processor and 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage, giving it enough headroom for everyday multitasking and file storage.

It also features a 1080p webcam with a physical privacy shutter for video calls and online meetings. Audio comes from dual front-facing 2W speakers with Dirac, while AI-powered noise cancellation is designed to reduce background noise during calls.

The VM240 AiO is priced at Rs 66,990 in India. The AMD Ryzen 5 variant will be available starting mid-September.

ASUS expands its accessory lineup

Alongside the AiO, ASUS has launched four accessories aimed at different types of users.

The ASUS Jelly75 Keyboard is priced at Rs 8,999 and features hot-swappable keys, allowing users to change switches without replacing the entire keyboard. It supports Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless and wired connections, with support for up to five devices.

The ASUS Wireless Mouse MD105 costs Rs 1,799 and offers 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity for up to three devices. It also has adjustable 1200, 1600 and 2400 DPI settings, along with an ergonomic design and quieter clicks.

The ASUS Marshmallow Keyboard and Mouse Combo CW200 is priced at Rs 4,199. It supports up to three devices, works across multiple operating systems and includes a dedicated Copilot key. The lightweight design is aimed at users who frequently move between workspaces.

For gamers, the ROG HDMI Cable LHR60 costs Rs 999. It offers 48Gbps bandwidth, with support for up to 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 144Hz. It also supports HDMI Variable Refresh Rate on compatible devices to help reduce screen tearing and stuttering.

Should you buy the ASUS VM240 AiO and accessories?

The VM240 AiO looks suited to users who want a simple desktop setup for work, learning and general home use without dealing with a separate monitor, PC and webcam. Its compact design and built-in features could also make it a practical option for smaller workspaces.

However, at Rs 66,990, the VM240 enters a segment where buyers can also consider a laptop or a custom desktop setup with a separate monitor. The all-in-one design is therefore likely to appeal most to users who value convenience and a clutter-free desk over maximum upgradeability.

The accessories are easier to justify based on individual use cases. The Jelly75 makes the most sense for users who want a customisable mechanical-style typing experience, while the MD105 and CW200 are aimed more at everyday productivity. The ROG HDMI Cable is primarily for users with high-refresh-rate or high-resolution displays who can take advantage of its higher bandwidth.

Overall, ASUS is covering a wide range of desktop use cases with this launch, but the VM240's value will depend largely on how much users prioritise its all-in-one design and convenience over more flexible alternatives.

[highlights]

The iQOO Buds feature 10mm drivers and support AAC and SBC codecs.

The TWS miss out on Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).

The iQOO Buds directly rival the CMF Buds Neo.

[/highlights]

After teasing the iQOO Buds for several days, the company launched its newest budget TWS today. Unveiled alongside the iQOO Z11, India's first MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo-powered phone, the iQOO Buds strongly emphasise long battery endurance, AI noise cancellation, and seamless multipoint connection. Interestingly, the TWS have been priced similarly to the newly launched CMF Buds Neo, which also launched today. Both TWS target young audiences seeking affordable TWS for entertainment and education needs.

iQOO Buds price, availability, sale

The iQOO Buds are priced at Rs 1,899 and will go on sale starting August 24th on Amazon India. As part of the exclusive launch offers, buyers can grab the TWS for Rs 1,699 by paying with any bank card.

The iQOO Buds come in a single Flame Yellow colourway.

iQOO Buds specifications and features

The latest TWS from iQOO features 10mm moving coil drivers with AAC and SBC codec support. Featuring dual microphones, the iQOO Buds don't come with ANC, but the company has provided AI call noise cancellation to reduce external disturbances during calls. It comes with multiple sound profiles, such as Clear voice, Mega bass, Crisp high pitch, Esports sound effect, and Immersive audiobooks.

The iQOO Buds support Bluetooth 6.1 and dual-connection, allowing users to pair with and connect to up to two devices simultaneously. In games, TWS are claimed to offer 42ms latency. The earbuds feature multiple actions, such as double and triple-tapping to trigger play/pause, next/previous song, and call rejection by pressing and holding the touch area.

The earbuds are IP54-rated for dust and splash resistance, making them an ideal accessory for workouts or runs. The TWS supports Google's Fast Pair, meaning you do not need to go through the pairing process when connecting with a new device which has your Gmail ID logged in. The iQOO Buds can be linked with the vEarphones app for users to change the settings and switch between various sound profiles.

The earbuds have a 53mAh battery, which is tuned to last 12 hours on a single charge, while the charging case has a 525mAh battery. Upon fully draining the earbuds and charging case, the company claims the iQOO Buds can offer up to 50 hours of battery backup. It's further stated that 10 minutes of charging can provide four hours of music playback; however, a full charge of the case can take up to two hours. The case weighs just 41.3g.

How do the iQOO Buds fare against the competition?

iQOO Buds' direct rival is the CMF Buds Neo, which will soon go on sale for Rs 1,999. For an additional Rs 100, the CMF TWS offers 32db of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which the iQOO Buds miss out on. Therefore, if you often find yourself in noisy environments, the Buds Neo could do a better job at cutting down on the external noise, even though the ANC value isn't that high.

Hence, if you really value ANC, it could be worth choosing the CMF Buds Neo over the iQOO Buds, provided the sound quality is also superior and aligns with your preferences. Apart from that, the Neo Buds are claimed to offer a higher battery backup of around 52 hours and feature 12.4mm drivers. If you're curious which of the two TWS offers a better overall experience, it's recommended to check the reviews before buying.

CMF Buds Neo launched in India with 35dB ANC and 52-hour battery under Rs 2,000

CMF has launched a new budget TWS buds in India called the CMF Buds Neo. Here's how they're priced and their features.

[highlights]

CMF Buds Neo launches in India at an introductory price of Rs 1,999, with sales starting August 26th.

The earbuds offer up to 35dB ANC, 12.4 mm dynamic drivers, 52 hours of total battery life and 120ms low-latency gaming mode.

CMF Buds Neo sits below the CMF Buds 2a priced at Rs 2,399.

[/highlights]

CMF has lowered the entry point to its audio lineup with the CMF Buds Neo, its most affordable wireless earbuds yet. Priced under Rs 2,000 during the launch period, the new earbuds combine active noise cancellation, a large 12.4mm driver and app-based customisation in a crowded budget TWS market.

CMF Buds Neo design and features

The Buds Neo follows CMF's design-first approach, with a square charging case featuring a tactile circular dial and contrasting two-tone finish. A built-in lanyard hole adds another practical and quintessential CMF touch. The earbuds and case are available in Black, White and Dark Blue.

For audio, the Buds Neo uses a 12.4mm dynamic driver with a titanium-coated PET dome and PEEK + PU surround. It supports static spatial audio and six EQ presets, while the Nothing X app adds Custom EQ and two levels of Bass Enhancement. Noise cancellation is rated at up to 35dB, with three ANC levels and an Adaptive ANC mode that adjusts to surroundings. Four HD microphones, two on each earbud, work with Clear Voice Technology for calls.

CMF claims up to 11 hours of playback from the earbuds with ANC off and up to 52 hours including the charging case. With ANC enabled, total playback drops to 30 hours. A 10-minute charge can provide up to 5.5 hours of playback, while the case takes about 70 minutes to fully charge over USB-C.

The Nothing X app also provides a 120ms low-latency gaming mode, customisable touch controls and dual-device connectivity. Bluetooth 6.0, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair are supported, with compatibility extending to Android 6.0 and newer and iOS 13 and newer.

Price and availability

The CMF Buds Neo will be available in India from August 26th at an exclusive launch price of Rs 1,999 through Flipkart and retail partners including Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales. It sits below the CMF Buds 2a, which costs Rs 2,399 and offers 42dB ANC, Transparency Mode, Dirac-tuned 12.4mm bio-fibre drivers, dual-device pairing and up to 35.5 hours of battery life.

The Buds Neo will also face new competition from the iQOO Buds TWS, which just launched at Rs 1,899 and claims up to 50 hours of total playback. CMF's advantage is its combination of ANC, app-based audio controls and a more distinctive design at Rs 1,999. Buyers choosing between the two should look beyond battery claims and consider whether ANC, sound customisation or low-latency gaming matters more for their use.

Google introduces Back to School offers for students with one year of free Gemini Omni, 400GB storage, and more

Google is offering eligible college students in India one year of AI Plus for free, with Gemini Omni, 400GB storage and more.

[highlights]

Google is offering eligible college students in India one year of AI Plus for free.

The offer includes Gemini Omni, higher usage limits and 400GB of storage.

Students can also get Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium at a 70 percent discount.

[/highlights]

Google has announced a new student offer in India that gives eligible college students one year of Google AI Plus at no cost. The plan includes access to Gemini Omni, higher usage limits in Gemini and 400GB of storage, along with a set of new AI-powered study tools across Gemini and Google Search.

Google's move also highlights a shift in how AI companies are positioning their tools for students. OpenAI, for instance, recently introduced ChatGPT for Teens, with learning-focused features such as Study Mode and stronger safeguards for users aged 13 to 17. While the two offerings target different age groups, both show how AI companies are increasingly building dedicated tools around learning and education rather than relying solely on general-purpose chatbots.

Google's free AI Plus offer gives it a direct way to put Gemini in front of a large student audience as the new academic year begins. Let's check out the offer in detail below.

What students get with Google AI Plus

The free student plan gives eligible college students access to Google AI Plus for one year, with Gemini Omni included as part of the package. Google is also offering 2x higher usage limits in Gemini and 400GB of storage.

For students already using Google's services for college work, the combination could offer more room for storing files while also providing access to Gemini's AI features without an additional subscription cost.

Students who want more than the free AI Plus plan can also access a discounted bundle combining Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium. Google says the bundle is available at up to 70 percent off, giving students access to Google's higher-tier AI tools alongside ad-free YouTube content. For students who already use YouTube regularly for lectures, tutorials or entertainment, the bundle could be more appealing than paying separately for an AI subscription and YouTube Premium.

Google has not specified the full eligibility criteria or offer deadline in the announcement, although students can claim the promotion through its dedicated student offer page.

Gemini tools for studying

Google is also introducing new ways for students to use Gemini as a study tool. The Gemini app now has a dedicated student hub that brings together its learning-focused features and helps students organise their studies.

One of the main additions is Study Notebooks, which can use diagnostic quizzes to identify a student's strengths and knowledge gaps. Gemini can then create bite-sized study plans based on their learning goals, giving students a more structured way to prepare for exams and coursework.

Students can also use Gemini Live to discuss Deep Research reports while on the move. This could make it easier to ask follow-up questions or explore a topic without having to sit through a long report on screen.

Google is bringing several learning-focused tools to Search as well. Students will be able to generate interactive visuals to better understand difficult concepts and take practice quizzes for different subjects, including standardised tests.

The company is also adding step-by-step learning through Google Lens, allowing students to work through concepts using visual search. Additional tools will let students organise projects with notebooks and create custom files to streamline their studies.

Google says these education features are designed with learning science in mind and are intended to support personalised study while keeping teachers in control of the classroom experience.

Should students claim Google's offer?

For eligible students, the free year of Google AI Plus is the easiest part of the offer to recommend. Gemini Omni, higher usage limits and 400GB of storage can provide decent value even for students who only use AI occasionally for research, coursework or organising files.

The Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium bundle, despite the advertised discount, is a different proposition. At roughly Rs 500 per month, it still adds a recurring cost that may not make sense for every student, particularly those on a tight budget. It is worth considering only for students who already use YouTube heavily and expect to make regular use of the additional Gemini features.

For everyone else, the free AI Plus plan remains a worthwhile offer on its own. Students can take advantage of the additional storage and AI tools without adding another monthly expense, which makes it the more practical option for most users.

iQOO Z11 debuts in India with MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo SoC, 7,050mAh battery, and 3D curved display

[highlights]

iQOO Z11 price in India starts at Rs 34,999.

The handset gets a 50MP primary camera and a 32MP front camera.

iQOO Z11 is the third phone in the lineup.

[/highlights]

iQOO Z11 is now official in India as the third phone in the lineup after the iQOO Z11x and Z11 Lite. The smartphone debuts the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset in India and brings a curved design, a horizontal camera bar, and more. iQOO Z11 now sits in the upper mid-range segment, far above its predecessor, the iQOO Z10, which launched at Rs 21,999.

iQOO Z11 price in India

The iQOO Z11 price in India starts at Rs 34,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The handset comes in three more variants. It will be available via Amazon India, the iQOO India online store, and retail outlets. The official sale for the iQOO Z11 is set to take place on August 25th at 12 pm.

Variant

Price

6GB + 128GB

Rs 34,999

8GB + 128GB

Rs 39,999

8GB + 256GB

Rs 44,999

12GB + 256GB

Rs 49,999

In terms of design, iQOO has replaced the large circular camera module with a more minimalist horizontal camera bar on the Z11. The handset comes in Celestial Blue and Aurora Green colours.

iQOO Z11 specifications

The iQOO Z11 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K (2800×1260 pixels) AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 2000-nit high-brightness mode. The display also supports HDR10+, Amazon Prime Video HDR, and Netflix HDR. The handset is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS3.1 storage. iQOO claims an AnTuTu score over 1.2 million, suggesting capable mid-range performance from the Z11. The handset is also equipped with a 3800 mm2 vapour chamber for heat dissipation.

The iQOO Z11 packs a sizeable 7,050mAh battery with 44W fast charging support. This battery capacity should be enough for regular and power users, with the phone comfortably lasting an entire day. Interestingly, the iQOO Z10 offers a slightly larger 7,300mAh battery compared to the Z11. However, this shouldn't make much of a difference in real-world usage.

For photography, you get a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera at the back, and a 32MP front camera. The upgrade here is the ultra-wide camera, up from the 2MP bokeh on the Z10. Both the rear and front cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps, which makes it a good option for content creators. The camera setup, otherwise, is pretty standard for this price segment.

In terms of durability, the iQOO Z11 gets IP68 and IP69 ratings. The handset is also quite slim, measuring 7.99mm thick and weighing 199g. On the software front, the iQOO Z11 runs OriginOS 6.0 based on Android 16 with AI features such as AI Captions, AI Creation, AI Routing, Conversation Memory, and Circle to Search. iQOO has also promised three major Android upgrades (up to Android 19) and five years of security updates.

The iQOO Z11 is the latest handset to join the upper mid-range segment, which has options like the OnePlus Nord CE6 and the Realme 16. The Z11 could appeal to buyers who prefer a curved display for multimedia, a large battery, and a dependable chipset. It's more of a well-packaged mid-range phone with a premium design. iQOO Z10 users could consider upgrading for the ultra-wide camera and the chipset if it makes much of a difference. We'd still suggest comparing with alternatives to see which phone gives the best value before making a buying decision.

Top-end Redmi Note 17 Pro Max tipped to get an entry-tier Snapdragon chip

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is launching later this month. However, Xiaomi fans may be in for some disappointing news.

[highlights]

Redmi will reveal the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max on August 27th in Malaysia.

This is the first time the series is getting a 'Pro Max' variant.

The phone is tipped to come with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset.

[/highlights]

Redmi Note series' fans may be in for some disappointing news. The series spent the past few years moving up the performance ladder but the next top model could reverse that trend. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, due to be unveiled on August 27th, is tipped to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. The information comes ahead of the launch and hasn't yet been officially confirmed by the brand.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max chipset

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is a newer Qualcomm platform, but the Snapdragon 6 family sits below the Snapdragon 7 series. That means the Note 17 Pro Max could end up with a lower-tier processor than its immediate predecessor, at least on paper. That would be unusual for the top model in the Note range. The progression over the past few generations has generally been toward more capable hardware. The Note 12 Turbo used the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, while the Note 14 Pro+ and Note 15 Pro+ used the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and 7s Gen 4, respectively.

The change comes as smartphone makers face higher component costs and ongoing pressure around chip and memory supply. It could be part of Redmi's effort to keep the Note 17 Pro Max's overall cost under control, although there is no official confirmation that pricing or supply constraints are behind the decision.

However, a lower Snapdragon series does not automatically mean poor performance. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is a newer platform, and its real-world performance will depend on its CPU and GPU configuration, cooling and how Xiaomi tunes the phone.

If the phone combines the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 with strong cameras, a high-quality display and a large battery at a lower price, the processor could be a reasonable compromise. But if its pricing moves into territory occupied by Snapdragon 7-series or comparable MediaTek-powered phones, buyers may have more reason to look closely at performance. Buyers upgrading from the Note 15 Pro+ should therefore wait for the full specifications and benchmarks before assuming the new model will be a performance upgrade.

Google Pixel 11 Pro’s 48MP periscope lens seemingly captures shots at closer distances: here's the proof

The Google Pixel 11 Pro's new periscope lens reportedly has a shorter minimum focus distance, allowing users to focus on closer subjects.

Apart from the inclusion of the new and improved Tensor G6 processor, the entire Pixel lineup sees camera upgrades in one form or another. While Google has claimed that the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL feature larger periscope sensors than their predecessors, a Reddit user reports that the new periscope lenses have a shorter minimum focus distance, allowing users to focus on closer subjects.

Google Pixel 11 Pro/ Pro XL periscope lens upgrade

Per pcman2000 on Reddit, the Google Pixel 11 Pro's 48MP periscope lens, which reportedly features a 1/1.95-inch sensor, can focus much closer on subjects than the 48MP 1/2.55-inch periscope camera on the Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro. Even though both cameras feature 5x optical zoom, it appears that Google has altered the lens's internal structure to achieve a short minimum focus distance.

The Reddit user shared an image of their Pixel 11 Pro next to a Pixel 9 Pro, with both devices running the camera app in manual mode and the telephoto focus sliders set to the closest possible setting. In the comparison, the Pixel 11 Pro delivers a sharp image of its box located a few feet away, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro's shot appears heavily out of focus.

While Google hasn't officially revealed the Pixel 11 Pro's minimum focus distance, this suggests that the new Pixel Pro flagships can capture macro and close-up shots at shorter distances than the Pixel 9 Pro and 10 Pro. Speaking of which, other high-end flagships like the OPPO Find X9 Pro's 200MP periscope camera feature a minimum focus distance of just 10cm for close-up tele-macro photography.

What does a short focus distance mean for you?

With a short focus distance, especially with a telephoto or periscope lens, the camera can lock focus on subjects that are much closer. You can use the high-quality optical zoom for product shots, food, jewellery, flowers, textures, or small details by just switching to the zoom lens and moving as close to the subject as possible, as long as it's in focus.

All in all, a shorter minimum focus distance makes the zoom lens more flexible and useful in everyday situations. It turns the telephoto or periscope lens not only for capturing distant images but also for creative close-up shots.

If you're into macro or close-up photography, the Google Pixel 11 Pro or 11 Pro XL could be an ideal pick for this purpose. However, since we don't have official details on the actual distance the periscope can focus down to before it loses focus, it might be better to wait for real-world reviews and assess the phones' macro capabilities accordingly.

Samsung announces Galaxy Event for August 27th, Galaxy S26 FE launch expected

Samsung has announced a new Galaxy launch event for next week which could see the debut of the Galaxy S26 FE. Here's what to expect.

[highlights]

Samsung will host a Galaxy Event on August 27th, where it is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 FE.

The Galaxy S26 FE is tipped to feature the Exynos 2500 chipset.

The phone could come with seven years of Android OS and security updates.

[/highlights]

Samsung is preparing to add another model to its Galaxy S26 lineup. The company has announced a Galaxy Event for August 27th, where it says it will introduce "its newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family". While the company has not named the device, the announcement is widely expected to be for the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE.

The event will be livestreamed on Samsung.com and YouTube from 9 pm KST, (5.30 pm IST). Samsung hasn't shared any specifications for the upcoming phone yet.

Samsung Galaxy S26 FE: what to expect

The Galaxy S26 FE has already appeared in several leaks and certification databases, giving us an idea of what Samsung's next Fan Edition phone could offer. A Google Play Console listing for model number SM-S741U points to Samsung's Exynos 2500 chipset, an Xclipse 950 GPU and around 8GB of RAM. The listing also shows a 1,080 x 2,340-pixel display and a recent Android version.

More recent leaked marketing material suggests the phone will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full-HD+ resolution. It's tipped to feature a 4,900mAh battery with 45W wired charging, along with IP68 dust and water resistance. The leaked design shows a flat display, Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection and an aluminium frame. The reported camera setup includes a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide and 8MP 3x telephoto camera, with a 12MP sensor on the front. The phone is expected to be available in Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio finishes. It could also support features such as Horizontal Lock and My FanCam. Samsung is also expected to retain its seven-year software support commitment.

The Galaxy S26 FE appears to retain several key specifications from its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, which launched in India at Rs 59,999, also has a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, 4,900mAh battery, 45W charging, IP68 protection and a 50MP triple-camera setup. The biggest expected change is the move to the Exynos 2500, replacing the Exynos 2400 used in the S25 FE.

Pricing will be important as higher memory costs are adding pressure across the smartphone industry. In India, the Galaxy S26 currently starts at Rs 87,999, so the S26 FE is likely to remain positioned just below it. For Samsung users looking for a more affordable entry into the S26 family, the FE model should offer a familiar balance of display, cameras, performance and long-term software support. The Galaxy S25 FE remains a relevant alternative while stocks last, particularly if its price falls further ahead of the new model's arrival.

OnePlus 16 tipped to get 165Hz system-wide display, up to 185Hz gaming refresh rate

The OnePlus 16 is set to get an upgraded display with a higher refresh rate, as per latest leaks. Here's the latest information.

[highlights]

OnePlus 16 is tipped to feature a BOE X4 display with a 165Hz system-wide refresh rate.

The OnePlus 15 featured a 165Hz gaming-focused mode.

The OnePlus 16 is tipped to launch in China around October with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

[/highlights]

OnePlus may have announced an exit from the global scene but it appears to be doubling down on its next flagship while it operates in China and India. After the OnePlus 16 was tipped to feature a new BOE X4-based panel, further information has revealed it will be capable of running at 165Hz across more system and app scenarios, while supported games could reportedly push the refresh rate to 185Hz. The company has already confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will get upgrades to its gaming-focused technologies, although most of the display details remain based on leaks.

OnePlus 16 display features

According to tipster Digital Chat Station (via), the OnePlus 16 will use a new-generation BOE Oriental Screen featuring an X4 light-emitting material jointly developed by OnePlus and BOE. OnePlus has previously claimed that its new material performed better than Samsung's M-series material in internal testing, while also targeting lower power consumption and a longer lifespan.

The bigger change could be how the 165Hz refresh rate is used. The OnePlus 15 already supports up to 165Hz, but its official specifications list 1-120Hz adaptive refresh for general use and 165Hz as the maximum in gaming. The OnePlus 16 is tipped to extend 165Hz support across more system and application scenarios, potentially making scrolling, animations and touch interactions feel smoother.

The panel is also expected to retain a flat design with very narrow, symmetrical bezels. For gaming, the phone could reportedly reach 185Hz in supported titles. OnePlus has separately confirmed major upgrades to its Fengchi Gaming Core, high-refresh-rate technology and e-sports triple-chip system on the next flagship.

Other leaked specifications include a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, 50MP ultrawide camera and 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera. The phone is also tipped to use Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset and run ColorOS 17 in China.

The display strategy is an incremental but notable evolution of what OnePlus introduced with the OnePlus 15. That phone already combines a 165Hz 1.5K LTPO display with a 7,300mAh battery and dedicated gaming hardware, including a 3,200Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. That means the OnePlus 16's biggest display upgrade may not be the headline 165Hz figure itself, but how widely the refresh rate can be used and how efficiently the panel operates. Higher refresh rates can consume more power, so the reported efficiency improvements could be important during extended gaming sessions.

For buyers considering a flagship upgrade, there is little reason to rush based on the display alone. The OnePlus 15 already offers one of the highest refresh rates available on a mainstream flagship. However, gamers who want higher frame rates and the latest performance hardware may find it worthwhile to wait for the OnePlus 16, which is expected to launch in China around October. India availability and pricing have not yet been confirmed.

Samsung Galaxy S25 price hiked in India by up to Rs 12,000

Samsung has increased the price of the Galaxy S25 in India by up to Rs 12,000, with the revision affecting its 256GB and 512GB variants.

[highlights]

The Samsung Galaxy S25 256GB and 512GB variants have now received price hikes.

The 128GB variant is still available for Rs 74,999.

The price hikes are live on Samsung's website.

[/highlights]

Samsung has increased the price of the Galaxy S25 in India by up to Rs 12,000, with the revision affecting its 256GB and 512GB variants. The price change takes effect from August 19th i.e today. The move comes as smartphone makers contend with rising memory component costs. The price revision was shared by a tipster who posted Samsung's retailer communication which did not cite a reason for the price increase.

Samsung Galaxy S25 new prices

According to the Samsung communication shared by tipster Abhishek Yadav, the 12GB + 256GB Galaxy S25 now has a recommended list price of Rs 84,999, up from Rs 80,999. The 12GB + 512GB version has seen a larger Rs 12,000 increase, taking its price from Rs 92,999 to Rs 1,04,999.

Variant

Old price

New price

12GB + 256 GB

Rs 80,999

Rs 84,999

12GB + 512GB

Rs 92,999

Rs 1,04,999

The 12GB + 128GB Galaxy S25 remains priced at Rs 74,999. This variant arrived in India later through select retail channels after the phone's global launch, and is not included in the latest price revision.

The hike comes after several Android smartphone brands have raised prices across their portfolios amid higher memory costs. Samsung, along with Apple and Google, had largely held off on similar increases to their flagship phones, but that has now changed with the S25 price revision.

Should you buy the Galaxy S25?

Being a generation older does not take away from the Galaxy S25's flagship hardware. The compact phone has a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 12GB RAM and a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP main camera, 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and 12MP ultrawide camera.

The 4,000mAh battery and 25W charging are relatively modest compared with newer Android phones that increasingly use batteries above 6,000mAh. However, the S25's compact form factor, flagship performance and dedicated telephoto camera continue to give it a distinct place in Samsung's lineup. Our review noted, "The Samsung Galaxy S25 is a promising flagship smartphone that delivers on most counts. Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite, the handset's performance outshines the iPhone 16, whereas its versatile camera system, featuring a dedicated telephoto lens, captures vibrant and detailed photos. The display is a visual treat, and extended software support is enhanced by practical AI-driven upgrades."

Samsung also promises seven generations of major Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the Galaxy S25 series, taking software support through 2032. Even though the price has been hiked on the official page, the S25's discounted street price across retailers like Amazon makes sense for buyers, particularly for those looking for a compact flagship with long-term software support.
