OnePlus 16 display tipped to feature sub-1 mm bezels, 185Hz refresh rate

The OnePlus 16 could launch with a refresh rate of 185Hz and ultra-thin bezels. Here's what to expect from the phone.

[highlights]

The OnePlus 16 could feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE display.

The tipster claims the phone may have sub-1mm bezels on all four sides.

The leak also indicates OnePlus may stop at 185Hz rather than pursuing a 240Hz display.

[/highlights]

The OnePlus 16 may be shaping up to be one of the most ambitious display upgrades the company has attempted in years, even though the company upped the ante (sort of) with the refresh rate last year. A new leak (via) from tipster Digital Chat Station suggests the upcoming flagship could feature ultra-thin bezels measuring under 1 mm on all four sides, along with a display refresh rate of up to 185Hz.

While the tipster did not explicitly name the device, the specifications closely match previous reports linked to the OnePlus 16. If the claims prove accurate, OnePlus could be focusing on display quality and design refinement at a time when most flagship brands are chasing larger batteries.

OnePlus 16 leaked features

According to the leak, the device is currently being tested with Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset and a 6.78-inch 1.5K display supplied by BOE. The headline feature appears to be the refresh rate. Earlier reports had suggested OnePlus was exploring extremely high refresh rates, with some speculation pointing to a 240Hz panel. The latest information suggests the company may settle on 185Hz instead.

The tipster claims that pushing refresh rates beyond 200Hz could begin affecting display quality and may not offer meaningful real-world benefits. If true, OnePlus may be prioritising a balance between smoothness, image quality and power efficiency rather than chasing numbers. For context, OnePlus raised the refresh rate to 165Hz with the OnePlus 15, up from 120Hz on the OnePlus 13, but brought the display down to 1.5K.

The display is also said to bring improvements in brightness, colour reproduction and power consumption compared to previous generations. However, the bezel claim may attract even more attention. The leak suggests all four sides of the display could feature bezels measuring under 1 mm. If achieved, that would make the OnePlus 16 one of the most visually immersive smartphones on the market and potentially give it the narrowest bezels in the industry. For context, the Meizu 22 currently holds the record with bezels measuring around 1.2 mm.

The latest leak also aligns with earlier reports that hinted at a massive battery, potentially approaching the 9,000mAh mark, suggesting OnePlus is continuing to focus on endurance alongside performance.

For smartphone buyers, the practical value of a 185Hz display remains open to debate. Most flagships from Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi and OPPO continue to use panels in the 120Hz range, which already feel exceptionally smooth in daily use. That said, ultra-thin bezels and improvements to brightness and efficiency may end up having a bigger impact on the user experience than the refresh-rate figure itself.

OnePlus N6 launching soon as the company's cheapest phone: 4 things we want to see

OnePlus is set to release its cheapest phones and here's everything we would like to see in the device.

For years, OnePlus built its reputation around affordable "flagship killers", which was incidentally the tagline for the company's first-ever phone, the OnePlus One, launched in 2014 at Rs 21,999. However, in the last couple of years, the company has steadily moved upmarket. Its latest flagship, the OnePlus 15, sits comfortably in premium territory at Rs 85,999, while even some Nord models have crept into premium mid-range price brackets that would have seemed ambitious a few years ago. That's what makes the launch of the OnePlus N6 (on June 30th) interesting.

The company has expanded its portfolio over the years and recently exited the sub-Rs 25,000 segment by raising prices on the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite. Ironically, in today's day and age, the segment can appropriately be labelled "budget". The OnePlus N6, expected to launch under Rs 25,000 (some reports even claim a sub-Rs 20,000 pricing), could become the company's first genuinely budget-focused smartphone in a long time. And if the company gets it right, it could help reconnect with a segment of buyers that helped make the brand popular in India in the first place.

So far, OnePlus has revealed only the phone's design, not its specifications. Here are our expectations from the phone, which, in today's era of rising prices, could feel like a breath of fresh air for consumers shopping in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment.

Performance that shouldn't feel "budget"

The sub-Rs 25,000 segment is, at this point, more competitive than ever. Competing phones include the Redmi 15, POCO M8, Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, Infinix Note Edge, Realme P4 series, and maybe upcoming phones from the iQOO Z11 series. Most OEMs have been trying to offset rising memory component prices by taking a hit in the chipset department. At one point, processors popular in budget phones were now appearing in upper mid-range devices around the Rs 30,000 price point.

Historically, OnePlus phones have remained performance leaders in their segments, especially the Nord lineup. With the OnePlus N6, the company doesn't necessarily need the fastest chipset in the category for the budget consumer. What it does need is consistency. Smooth day-to-day performance, reliable multitasking and stable gaming matter more than benchmark scores for most buyers. If the N6 can avoid throttling issues and maintain OnePlus' traditionally fluid software experience, it will have a strong foundation.

Software support should be a priority

For many consumers, software support has become as important as a phone's performance. Especially with rising prices, consumers are unlikely to upgrade their phones every two years, which is essentially the OS support brands are offering in the lower-price segments. Samsung has made longer update policies a major selling point, even in lower-priced segments, while Nothing has also focused heavily on software longevity. The POCO M8, currently available around Rs 20,000, gets four years of OS updates and six years of security updates. To gain a competitive advantage, the N6 would benefit from at least three Android OS updates and four years of security patches. For context, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite gives two years of OS and four years of security updates.

A camera that gets the basics right

This is where many affordable phones lose their way. Instead of loading the spec sheet with multiple low-value sensors, OnePlus would be better served investing in a strong primary camera. Good daylight photos, reliable HDR processing and dependable low-light performance will matter far more than a decorative macro camera. Nothing and Motorola have shown that buyers increasingly care about image quality rather than camera count.

Battery life that sets a benchmark

As performance in the sub-Rs 25,000 has taken a hit, battery life has been the big gainer. We expected OnePlus to not disappoint with the N6 going by their recent launches, and they haven't. The company has officially revealed the OnePlus N6 will come with an 8,000mAh battery, which is the same capacity as the OnePlus Nord CE 6. The OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite offers a 7,000mAh battery, which meets the unofficial baseline set for smartphones these days. However, in this segment, we have a phone with a massive 10,000mAh battery, the Realme P4 Power. We're not saying OnePlus needs to beat that figure, but a well optimised smaller battery can even yield comparable results.

The N6 arrives at an interesting moment for OnePlus. The company has spent the last year raising flagship prices, with recent increases making devices significantly more expensive than at launch. A well-priced budget phone could help balance the portfolio while introducing younger buyers to the OnePlus ecosystem.

For prospective buyers, the biggest thing to watch will be the pricing. If OnePlus can keep the N6 below Rs 25,000 and tempt with some launch offers to bring it closer to Rs 20,000, while delivering clean software, dependable performance and excellent battery life, it may have its most compelling mass-market phone in years.

Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge launched with Snapdragon X2 Elite and 16-inch AMOLED display: check price, specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge has launched with a Snapdragon X2 Elite, a 16-inch AMOLED display, and more. Take a look at the specifications here.

[highlights]

Samsung's Galaxy Book 6 Edge is a premium 16-inch laptop built for performance and portability.

It uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite chip and promises a long battery life.

The machine starts at USD 2,099 (approximately Rs 2 Lakh).

[/highlights]

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Book6 Edge, a premium 16-inch laptop aimed at buyers who want a slim Windows machine with long battery life and AI-focused performance. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite chip and sits at the top end of Samsung's laptop lineup. Let's take a closer look at the machine in a bit more detail below:

Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge: features

The laptop uses a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 3K (2880 x 1200p) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make text look sharp and scrolling feel smooth. Samsung also gives it an anti-reflective coating, so the screen should be easier to view under bright indoor lights or near windows.

The Galaxy Book 6 Edge comes with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of storage in the US launch model. That combination should make it a strong fit for heavy multitasking, large files and everyday productivity, but the single memory option also means buyers cannot scale it up later.

Samsung says the laptop can last up to 22 hours on video playback, which puts it in the long-battery category for a 16-inch Windows laptop. It also supports 65W charging, with Samsung claiming it can reach 40 percent in around 30 minutes.

In terms of design, the Galaxy Book 6 Edge is slim at 12.3mm and weighs 1.55kg. That makes it easier to carry than many large-screen laptops, while still giving users a full-size display and a more premium build.

Samsung has also included Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB 4.0 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. The port selection is useful because it reduces the need for dongles, which is often a weakness on thin premium laptops.

Where does it fit?

Samsung's Galaxy Book 6 Edge fits into the premium laptop category, where buyers usually look for a slim body, long battery life and a high-quality display. It is aimed at people who want a large-screen Windows laptop that still feels easy to carry.

Compared with Samsung's earlier Galaxy Book4 Edge, this new model feels like a more polished upgrade. It brings a newer Snapdragon X2 Elite chip, a bigger 16-inch screen and a thinner body, so it should appeal to users who want a more modern all-round package.

It also goes up against laptops like the MacBook Air M5. Samsung's pitch is simple: a bigger 3K AMOLED touchscreen, more ports and Windows compatibility, while Apple still has the edge in ecosystem strength and portability. In other words, the Galaxy Book 6 Edge is for buyers who want a premium Windows laptop with a large display, rather than the smallest or lightest option in the segment.

OnePlus N6 battery capacity revealed ahead of India debut

[highlights]

OnePlus N6 will have a starting price below Rs 20,000.

The handset will most likely sit below the Nord lineup.

OnePlus N6 is also confirmed to be sold through Amazon.

[/highlights]

OnePlus is set to launch a new smartphone series in India on June 30th. The OnePlus N series will cater to the budget segment priced below Rs 20,000. The first smartphone from this lineup is the OnePlus N6, which will most likely sit below the Nord lineup. At present, the OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite is the most affordable handset from the brand, with a starting price of Rs 22,999. It looks like the OnePlus N6 will borrow features from the Nord lineup, as the handset is confirmed to house a large battery.

OnePlus N6 battery details

Ahead of launch, OnePlus has confirmed that the N6 will pack a massive 8,000mAh battery, the same capacity found on the pricier OnePlus Nord CE 6, which starts at Rs 29,999. The company claims the handset can deliver up to three days of usage on a single charge and maintain battery health for up to seven years, making longevity a key selling point.

The 8,000mAh battery would clearly make the OnePlus N6's highlight and key-selling point, especially in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment, which doesn't offer this capacity yet. It's also expected to offer a balanced package of specifications for everyday use. The OnePlus N6 is confirmed to be sold through Amazon and will arrive in black and green colour options.

Design teasers reveal a flat-back design with a square camera module at the top-left corner, while the familiar OnePlus branding sits at the centre. It looks quite like the OnePlus Nord CE6. The phone also features a USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and SIM tray along the bottom edge.

The N6's arrival is significant because it effectively creates a new entry point into the OnePlus ecosystem. Currently, the Nord CE 6 Lite is the brand's most affordable offering, but the N series is expected to create a new buying segment altogether. It would also help expand OnePlus's market share by acquiring the budget segment, which is a popular one in the Indian smartphone market.

There's little information to go by, but based on the latest reveal, the OnePlus N6 could be worth considering if battery endurance is a top priority. However, users focused on camera performance, display quality, or premium features may want to compare its final specifications with devices in the Nord series before making a decision.

Realme P4x, on the other hand starts at Rs 21,499 for the 6GB + 128GB variant, making it slightly more expensive than the P4R.

Variant

Realme P4R price

Realme P4x price

4GB + 128GB

Rs 18,999

NA

6GB + 128GB

Rs 20,999

Rs 21,499

6GB + 256GB

Rs 22,999

NA

8GB + 128GB

NA

Rs 23,499

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: design, display

Both phones offer a premium design, but they take slightly different approaches. The Realme P4R stands out with its AI Pulse Light LED indicator on the rear and manages to maintain a sleek profile despite packing a massive 8,000mAh battery. It is available in Titanium Glare, Silver Glare, and Lavender Glare finishes. The phone also has military-grade durability certification and an IP65 rating, giving it a slight advantage in protection against dust and water.

The Realme P4x, meanwhile, features a cleaner and more understated design with a slim vertical camera module. It comes in Matte Silver, Elegant Pink, and Lake Green colour options, and also carries military-grade certification, although its IP64 rating is slightly less robust than the P4R's.

For the display, the Realme P4R sports a larger 6.8-inch panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 1,200 nits peak brightness. The P4x counters with a slightly smaller 6.72-inch display that also supports a 144Hz refresh rate, but offers a sharper FHD+ resolution compared to the P4R's HD+ panel.

Choose the Realme P4R if you value better durability and a brighter display, while the Realme P4x is the better pick for sharper visuals thanks to its higher-resolution screen.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: battery, charging

Battery life is a key strength for both phones, but the Realme P4R takes the lead with its massive 8,000mAh battery compared to the Realme P4x's 7,000mAh unit. Both support 45W fast charging, reverse wired charging, and bypass charging, helping improve long-term battery health during gaming and heavy use.

[comparative-benchmark type="3" title="PCMark Battery score (in hours)" caption="PCMark battery test measures phone battery life from 100% to 20% (higher is better)" highlight="product_1" products="41950,41672,,," ][/comparative-benchmark]

In real-world usage, the P4R should comfortably last up to two days on a single charge and can stretch even further with lighter use, while the P4x also delivers excellent endurance and can easily get through a full day and beyond. The P4x has the advantage of a faster full-charge time, with Realme claiming a 1-100% refill in 90 minutes.

If maximum battery life is your top priority, the Realme P4R is the better choice. However, if you want a balance of strong endurance and quicker charging, the Realme P4x remains an excellent option.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: chipset, software

The Realme P4x holds a clear advantage in performance with its MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset, which is significantly more capable than the Dimensity 6300 powering the Realme P4R. Both phones are equipped for smooth day-to-day usage and multitasking, with the P4R offering up to 14GB of dynamic RAM.

[comparative-benchmark type="1" title="AnTuTu score" caption="AnTuTu assesses a smartphone's CPU, GPU, memory, and overall user experience (higher is better)" highlight="product_1" products="41950,41672,,," ][/comparative-benchmark]

Thermals are well managed on both devices, as each features a large 5,300mm² vapour chamber cooling system to maintain stable performance during gaming and prolonged workloads. If performance is a priority, the Realme P4x is the better choice thanks to its more powerful Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor. The Realme P4R remains suitable for everyday tasks, streaming, and casual gaming, but power users and gamers will benefit more from the P4x.

Since both phones run Realme UI, you'll get a similar experience in terms of software. The difference here is software support. The Realme P4R runs Android 16-based Realme UI 7.0, while the P4x launches with the older Android 15-based Realme UI 6.0. So, despite offering the same software support (2 OS upgrades, 3 years of security patches), the Realme P4R has an advantage of the latest software version.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: cameras

On paper, both phones feature a similar camera setup, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP secondary camera and an 8MP front-facing shooter. The Realme P4R focuses on AI-powered photography features, offering tools such as AI Eraser 2.0, AI Ultra Clarity, AI Unblur, and AI Portrait Glow, along with Motion Photo support on both the front and rear cameras.

The Realme P4x also offers a wider range of AI imaging features, including AI Eraser, AI Motion Deblur, AI Glare Remover, and AI Landscape 2.0. It also supports video recording at up to 4K 30fps and includes Google's AI features such as Circle to Search and Gemini.

You should get a similar camera output from either of the phones, which is decent for casual photography.

Summing up

Overall, both phones cater to different priorities. The Realme P4R stands out with its massive 8,000mAh battery, brighter display, and slightly better durability, making it an excellent choice for users who value long battery life above all else. The Realme P4x, on the other hand, offers a sharper display, and a significantly more powerful chipset. Unless battery endurance is your primary concern, the Realme P4x emerges as the more well-rounded option for most users.

Apple reportedly testing 20th anniversary iPhone, foldable successor and camera-equipped AirPods for 2027 launch

According to a report in Bloomberg, Apple is already testing its special 20th anniversary iPhones and the foldable successor which could launch in 2027.

[highlights]

Apple is reportedly testing 20th-anniversary iPhone models, a second-generation foldable iPhone and camera-equipped AirPods.

The phones could launch later in 2027.

The anniversary iPhones will succeed the iPhone 18 Pro series and could be powered by Apple's 2nm A21 chip.

[/highlights]

Apple's 20th anniversary of the iPhone is still more than a year away, but the company is reportedly already laying the groundwork for what could become one of its most ambitious hardware refresh cycles in recent memory.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is testing a range of products for 2027, including special anniversary iPhone models, a second-generation foldable iPhone, AirPods equipped with cameras and new AI wearables. The devices are reportedly being developed alongside iOS 28, internally codenamed "Bell."

If the plans materialise, 2027 could mark a turning point for Apple as it shifts from simply adding AI features to building hardware specifically designed around them.

Anniversary iPhone and foldable successor

The report claims Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone models are internally known as V73 and V74 and are expected to succeed the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both devices could be powered by Apple's next-generation 2nm A21 chipset. While details remain scarce, anniversary iPhones have historically carried higher expectations. The iPhone X, launched during the iPhone's tenth anniversary year, introduced Face ID and a dramatically different design. As a result, expectations for a 20th-anniversary model are already building.

Apple is also said to be working on a second-generation foldable iPhone, codenamed V78. That's noteworthy because it suggests Apple may already be planning a follow-up before its first foldable iPhone has even reached consumers.

Camera-equipped AirPods

Perhaps the most unusual product in the report is a new pair of AirPods with built-in cameras. These cameras are not expected to be used for taking photos. Instead, they would act as visual sensors for Apple's AI features. Users could potentially ask Siri questions about objects, locations or surroundings without needing to pull out their iPhone. Meta has already pushed AI-powered wearables into the mainstream through its smart glasses, while companies across the tech industry are exploring ways to make AI more context-aware and less dependent on smartphones. Apple also appears to be betting heavily on AI-powered hardware experiences rather than AI chatbots alone.

Buyers shouldn't base any purchasing decisions for products that are still almost a year away. But the report offers an early glimpse into where Apple believes consumer technology is heading next, and it appears to involve far more than just the iPhone.

WhatsApp may soon let iPhone users send view-once text messages

WhatsApp could seen be extending the view-once functionality to text messages on iOS, claims a new report. Here's how it could work.

[highlights]

WhatsApp is developing a view-once option for text messages on iPhone.

The feature is already available for photos, videos and voice notes.

The feature is currently under development and not yet available to beta testers.

[/highlights]

WhatsApp appears to be working on a new privacy feature that could make sensitive conversations a little harder to preserve. According to WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is developing support for view-once text messages on iPhone, allowing users to send messages that disappear after being read once.

The feature is still under development and is not yet available to beta testers. However, its arrival would extend WhatsApp's existing view-once functionality beyond photos, videos and voice notes, bringing the same treatment to plain text messages.

There is currently no official timeline for the rollout but it's a change that feels overdue. While WhatsApp has spent years expanding its privacy toolkit, users who wanted to send temporary text had to rely on workarounds, such as sending a screenshot containing text as a view-once image.

How view-once text messages could work

According to WABetaInfo, users will be able to activate the feature by long-pressing the Send button after typing a message. A new "Send as view once" option will then appear. Once sent, the recipient will only be able to open the message a single time before it becomes inaccessible. The feature is expected to work in both individual and group chats, though not in channels.

WhatsApp is also planning to apply the same protections already used for view-once media. Recipients will reportedly be unable to copy, save, forward or share the message. Screenshots and screen recordings will also be blocked within the app.

Of course, no privacy feature is completely foolproof. Someone could still use a second device to photograph the screen, but WhatsApp appears to be trying to make saving or redistributing these messages as difficult as possible.

View-once text messages help close a noticeable gap in WhatsApp's existing feature set. The company already supports end-to-end encryption, disappearing chats and view-once media. Extending similar controls to text creates a more consistent experience across different types of content.

For users, the feature could be useful when sharing temporary passwords, one-time codes, personal details or information that doesn't need to remain visible in a chat history. At the same time, it is unlikely to replace disappearing messages entirely, since view-once messages are designed for content that should vanish immediately after being read.

Honor X80 Pro Max to launch as first phone with 10,000 nits display

[highlights]

Honor X80 Pro Max's display is claimed to exceed 10,000 nits peak brightness.

The handset is also getting a massive 11,000mAh battery.

Honor X80 Pro Max launch is scheduled for June 22nd.

[/highlights]

Honor knows how to make a statement. It launched the first phone with an 8,000mAh battery, which is the Honor Power, and now the brand plans to push the numbers even further. The upcoming Honor X80 Pro Max is launching in China on June 22nd with a massive 11,000mAh battery and a peak screen brightness capable of exceeding 10,000 nits. This would make the Honor X80 Pro Max the brightest smartphone screen announced to date.

Honor X80 Pro Max 10,000 nits display

The Honor X80 Pro Max's display is a 6.8-inch 1.5K panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and ultra-slim 1.3mm bezels. However, the bigger talking point is the peak brightness level that is claimed to exceed 10,000 nits. This is a tall claim, as most phones offer around 5,000 nits as the highest level, which is also quite rare to find. With a 10,000 nits display, the Honor X80 Pro Max would be incredibly bright, especially in situations where you're outdoors with heavy sunlight.

Honor X80 Pro Max specifications

Not just the display, the Honor X80 Pro Max is also confirmed to house a massive 11,000mAh battery. With this capacity, the smartphone will comfortably offer multi-day usage, making it an ideal choice for gamers and power users. Despite the massive cell, Honor claims the phone remains relatively slim at 8.08mm and weighs 203g.

The X80 Pro Max also emphasises durability, featuring SGS-certified drop protection, IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K water and dust resistance ratings, and a free screen replacement program for accidental drops.

Under the hood, leaks point to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, suggesting the device is aimed more at battery-conscious mainstream users than performance enthusiasts. Camera hardware appears modest, with reports pointing to a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.

If battery life, durability, and display visibility rank above gaming performance and advanced photography, the Honor X80 Pro Max could become one of the most compelling value-focused smartphones of 2026. However, those prioritising better cameras or performance may still find higher-end alternatives more appealing.

Android 17 stable update starts rolling to Pixel devices; here's what's new

The stable Android 17 update has started rolling out for Pixel devices, and here's what's new.

[highlights]

The Android 17 update rollout is currently underway globally.

The update brings a host of multitasking and privacy-related features.

Phones as old as the Pixel 6 series are eligible for Android 17.

[/highlights]

After multiple beta releases of Android 17, the stable firmware has started rolling out to eligible Pixel devices, including smartphones, foldables, and tablets. While previous Android releases have generally rolled out after August, this is one of the fastest Android rollouts ever. While the firmware brings a host of new features, improvements, and visual changes, Google is primarily focusing on enhancing productivity, gaming, and security with the new release. On that note, let's take a look at the key changes of Android 17 for Pixels.

Enhanced multitasking capabilities

Bubbles: Adding to the already available multitasking features, such as split screen, floating windows, and picture-in-picture, Android 17 brings 'bubbles'. It operates just like Facebook Messenger's bubble chats, wherein users can open and browse multiple apps in bubble format. Unlike floating windows, users can summon more than one app and place the app icon overlay alongside the edges of the screen.

Consistent widget size across devices: On external or connected displays, Android 17 will resize the widgets according to the screen's pixel density, resulting in visual consistency and an appealing look.

Customisation features and visual changes

Hide app names on homescreen: Something which most Android skins have already had, the option to hide the app names on homescreen finally arrives on Pixels with the Android 17 update. When app names are hidden, it should result in a cleaner homescreen look, which many may prefer.

More blur backgrounds: On Android 16, Google introduced blur details and backgrounds in multiple areas, such as the quick settings panel. Android 17 takes this even further by adopting blur in the widgets picker page, volume panel, and power off menu.

Compact menus: Within the Settings, the menu sizes have been resized to make them appear more compact. While this doesn't enhance any functionality, smaller menus allow for more content on a single page.

Enhanced privacy options

System Contact Picker: Android 17 lets users grant apps access to only the contacts they choose. With third-party apps having access to your contacts, this ensures you only provide the data of the required people.

App-wise precise location permission: Apps that require location permissions can access your precise location only for a particular session. So, suppose you have downloaded a new app for one-off purposes, the app can be granted access to your exact location for just a short period of time.

New features and enhancements

Screen Reactions: During screen recordings, users on Android 17 will be able to show their face in a floating window using their phone's front camera. What's special is that, unlike previous implementations, such as on One UI, which show the face in a circular or square cutout, Android 17 on Pixels automatically cuts the background without the need for a green screen.

Improvements to Live Updates: Introduced in Android 16, Live Updates on Android 17 have been upgraded to appear more prominently in the notification drawer, on the lock screen, and on the status bar.

Google Pixel devices eligible for Android 17

The following Pixel devices will receive the Android 17 update:

Pixel 6

Pixel 6 Pro

Pixel 6a

Pixel 7

Pixel 7 Pro

Pixel 7a

Pixel Tablet

Pixel Fold

Pixel 8

Pixel 8 Pro

Pixel 8a

Pixel 9

Pixel 9 Pro XL

Pixel 9 Pro

Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Pixel 9a

Pixel 10

Pixel 10 Pro XL

Pixel 10 Pro

Pixel 10 Pro Fold

Pixel 10a

Given the new additions and changes, the Android 17 update for Pixels may seem like an iterative bump up, but on a deep level, it should offer an enhanced experience for everyday use. Features like bubbles should certainly boost user productivity as it offers multitasking and juggling apps without needing to adjust windows, while the addition of blur improves the visual appeal of Pixel UI.

Other brands like Samsung, OnePlus, OPPO, Honor, Xiaomi, and others have already rolled out Android 17 beta releases for their eligible smartphones.

OPPO K14x price increased in India by Rs 1,000: here's how much it costs now

[highlights]

OPPO K14x launched in India earlier this year, in February.

The handset stands out for its 6,500mAh battery.

Its price has been increased by Rs 1,000.

[/highlights]

OPPO has increased the price of its recently launched K14x smartphone in India, making the device Rs 1,000 more expensive across all storage configurations. The revised pricing takes immediate effect and reflects the broader trend of smartphone price increases seen across the industry in 2026.

OPPO K14x price hike details

Under the new pricing structure, the OPPO K14x 5G (4GB+64GB) now costs Rs 15,999, up from its launch price of Rs 14,999. The 4GB+128GB variant has been revised from Rs 16,999 to Rs 17,999, while the top-end 6GB+128GB model now retails for Rs 19,999 instead of Rs 18,999.

Variant

Old price

New price

4GB+64GB

Rs 14,999

Rs 15,999

4GB+128GB

Rs 16,999

Rs 17,999

6GB+128GB

Rs 18,999

Rs 19,999

OPPO K14x: what's on offer

The OPPO K14x was positioned as a battery-focused budget 5G smartphone. It houses a large 6,500mAh battery, which comfortably delivers all-day endurance and can stretch well into a second day for moderate users. The device also offers dependable everyday performance for social media, web browsing, video streaming, and casual gaming. Popular titles such as BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile run smoothly, while thermal management remains respectable during extended sessions.

However, the phone's compromises become more apparent at its new pricing. The HD+ LCD screen lacks the sharpness offered by FHD+ panels available on competing devices in the same segment. Content consumption is further limited by the inclusion of a single mono speaker, while camera performance remains average, particularly for selfies and low-light photography.

Another concern is software longevity. Despite launching in March 2026, the K14x ships with Android 15, raising questions about long-term software support compared to rivals that offer more aggressive update commitments.

OPPO K14x specifications

OPPO K14x

Specifications

Display

6.75-inch HD+ LCD, 120Hz refresh rate, 1,125 nits peak brightness

Processor

MediaTek Dimensity 6300

Rear cameras

50MP primary + 2MP monochrome

Front camera

5MP

Battery, charging

6,500mAh battery, 45W fast charging

Software

Android 15-based ColorOS 15, 2+3 years

The revised pricing puts the OPPO K14x in direct competition with several older but more balanced smartphones powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7300 chipset, such as the Lava Play Ultra, which offers stronger overall value through faster performance, sharper displays, and more capable camera systems.

The OPPO K14x remains a sensible choice for users who prioritise battery life above everything else and want a reliable phone for everyday use. However, at its revised price, buyers looking for a more complete package may find better value in competing devices that offer stronger performance, sharper displays, and better cameras for similar money.

OPPO Reno 16 series could feature smaller batteries than Chinese models

[highlights]

The Reno 16 series could feature three models for the global market.

There's a Reno 16F tipped to launch as well.

OPPO might reduce the battery capacity for the global variants.

[/highlights]

Shortly after their prices were revealed, the OPPO Reno 16 series' battery details for the European market surfaced online. Three upcoming OPPO smartphones carrying model numbers linked to the Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16F have surfaced on the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) database. The listings reveal key details about the Reno 16 lineup's battery capacities and how they may differ from the Chinese models.

OPPO Reno 16 series battery details

The certification listing reveals rated battery capacities of 5,820mAh for the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro, while the Reno 16F is tipped to feature a larger 6,325mAh unit. The figures mark a significant departure from the Chinese variants unveiled in May. In China, the Reno 16 Pro ships with a large 7,000mAh battery, while the standard Reno 16 packs a 6,700mAh cell. If the certification details prove accurate, global models could lose more than 1,000mAh of battery capacity.

Despite the smaller batteries, the devices have received an Energy Class A rating and are expected to offer IP68-rated dust and water resistance. Battery endurance figures listed on the certification platform suggest the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro can deliver around 62-63 hours per charge cycle, while the Reno 16F stretches that figure to 75 hours.

The global Reno 16 Pro may also differ in performance. Recent benchmark sightings suggest it could utilize a MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset instead of the more powerful Dimensity 9500-series processor found in its Chinese counterpart. It's not surprising for OPPO to change the specs for the global variants, as we've seen with the Reno 15 series. If pricing stays as expected, then the Reno 16 series could still be a good contender in the segment.

However, with rivals increasingly pushing 7,000mAh-plus batteries in the premium mid-range segment, the Reno 16 series may face tougher competition internationally than it does in its home market. Potential buyers prioritising maximum battery life might want to wait for full reviews comparing real-world endurance, especially given the smaller capacity compared to Chinese models and rivals. Like its predecessor, the Reno 16 series is also expected to stand out as a compact option offering capable performance, versatile cameras, and a sizeable battery. It would still be wise to compare the upgrades with the Reno 15 series, which is still fairly new in the market.

iPhone 18 tipped to get 12GB RAM for advanced Siri features, but without a price hike

The iPhone 18 could launch early next year with upgraded RAM but not an upgraded price, claims a new report. Here's more.

[highlights]

The standard iPhone 18 is tipped to feature 12GB RAM to support Apple's upcoming on-device AI model and Siri features.

Apple may not increase the iPhone 18's starting price, despite the memory upgrade.

The standard iPhone 18 could launch in the first half of 2027.

[/highlights]

Apple's next-generation iPhone 18 could deliver one of the biggest under-the-hood upgrades in years without asking buyers to pay more for it. According to a new report in Digitimes based on information from South Korea's KB Securities, Apple plans to equip the standard iPhone 18 with 12GB of RAM, a significant jump from the 8GB found on the current-generation iPhone 17. The additional memory is expected to support Apple's most advanced on-device AI model and upcoming Siri capabilities, while the starting price is reportedly set to remain unchanged.

If true, this would be a rare piece of good news for smartphone buyers at a time when many flagship devices have seen multiple rounds of price increases over the past few months without any equivalent spec bump.

iPhone 18 expected features

The RAM upgrade appears to be tied to Apple's AI ambitions. During WWDC 2026, the company revealed that its current most powerful on-device AI model enables more natural Siri voices and substantial improvements to system-wide dictation accuracy. Apple also confirmed that these features require 12GB of unified memory. At present, only the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max meet that requirement. The standard iPhone 17 is left out because of its 8GB RAM configuration.

That could change with the iPhone 18. According to the report, Apple plans to bring 12GB of RAM to the entire iPhone 18 family, creating greater feature parity between standard and Pro models. An earlier report from Korean publication The Bell had also suggested that the iPhone 18 would receive a 50 percent memory increase over its predecessor.

The upgrade would also help Apple keep pace with Android rivals. Almost all premium Android phones from Samsung, OnePlus, Realme, OPPO, Xiaomi and Vivo already ship with 12GB or even 16GB of RAM, particularly as AI features become a bigger selling point.

iPhone 18 expected price

The more (good) surprising part of the report is that Apple may not increase pricing despite the memory upgrade. KB Securities claims Apple has asked memory suppliers Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron to increase shipments of LPDDR5X RAM chips and is prepared to absorb the higher component costs rather than pass them on to consumers. If that happens, the iPhone 18 could retain the same USD 799 starting price as the current model. The iPhone 17 is priced at Rs 82,900 in India, and got a minor Rs 3,000 price bump from its predecessor when it launched. The most important upgrade in the spec sheet at that time was the 120Hz LTPO screen, up from 60Hz.

Retaining the existing starting price would stand out in today's smartphone market. All brands except Apple have raised prices in recent months due to higher component costs, tariffs and growing investments in AI hardware. Even Apple's own competitors have pushed flagship prices higher, blaming rising memory prices for the increase.

For buyers, the report is encouraging but still worth treating with caution. The iPhone 18 is not expected to launch until 2027, with current reports suggesting Apple will release the iPhone 18 Pro models and its first foldable iPhone in late 2026, followed by the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and next-generation iPhone Air in the first half of 2027. If true, this would bring the iPhone 18 at par with all Android rivals in terms of basic specifications, and no price increase means it's definitely worth waiting for.

Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon Reality Elite XR platform, launches Start toolkit for AI smart glasses

[highlights]

Snapdragon Reality Elite is positioned as Qualcomm's most powerful XR solution yet.

The chipset will power XREAL's Project Aura and Play For Dream's next-generation XR headset.

Snapdragon Start provides all the tools required to help brands launch personal AI devices.

[/highlights]

Qualcomm has announced its next-generation Snapdragon Reality Elite platform at Augmented World Expo (AWE), aimed at powering advanced mixed reality (MR), virtual reality (VR), and smart glasses experiences. Alongside the new XR chipset, the company also introduced Snapdragon Start, a toolkit designed to help brands develop AI-powered smart glasses faster.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite

The Snapdragon Reality Elite platform is positioned as Qualcomm's most powerful XR solution yet. It is designed for both high-performance video-see-through (VST) headsets and lightweight optical-see-through (OST) smart glasses, reflecting the industry's growing focus on mixed reality and AI-driven wearable devices.

A major highlight of the platform is its on-device AI performance of up to 48 TOPS, enabling support for large language models (LLMs) and vision AI models directly on XR devices. This allows features such as AI assistants, photorealistic avatars, real-time object generation, and improved contextual awareness without relying heavily on cloud processing.

Compared to the previous generation, Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60 percent higher GPU performance, 30 percent faster CPU performance, and up to 160 percent better AI processing performance. Qualcomm says the platform can support displays with up to 4.4K resolution per eye at 90fps, delivering sharper visuals and smoother mixed reality experiences.

The new platform also promises up to 20 percent longer battery life and lower operating temperatures, which could result in lighter and more comfortable headsets for extended use. The chipset will power upcoming devices, including XREAL's Project Aura and Play For Dream's next-generation XR headset, with more products expected to follow.

Snapdragon Reality Elite signals the next step in premium XR hardware, bringing stronger AI capabilities, improved graphics, and better battery efficiency. While products powered by the platform are still on the way, buyers interested in mixed reality headsets or AI smart glasses may want to keep an eye on upcoming devices based on Qualcomm's latest technology.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Start

Qualcomm also introduced Snapdragon Start (Scalable Turnkey AI-Ready Toolkit). The program provides ready-made hardware modules, software tools, and AI integration support to help brands launch personal AI devices, such as smart glasses, more quickly. Eyewear company Inspecs is the first partner to join the initiative.

With Snapdragon Start, Qualcomm seems to be targeting eyewear brands, consumer electronics companies, and new entrants looking to launch AI-powered smart glasses without building the entire technology stack from scratch. By offering pre-built hardware modules, software tools, and AI integration support, the program aims to reduce development time and costs.

As demand for personal AI devices grows, Start could help bring a wider range of smart glasses to the market faster, giving consumers more choices across different price segments and use cases.

WhatsApp Web may soon let users make group voice and video calls

WhatsApp Web may soon start supporting group voice and video calls, as per a new report by WhatsApp Web.

[highlights]

WhatsApp is testing voice and video calls for group chats on WhatsApp Web.

The feature supports up to 32 participants, screen sharing, call links and end-to-end encryption.

Group calling on WhatsApp Web is currently available only to some beta users, with a wider rollout expected to happen gradually.

[/highlights]

If you've ever been chatting on WhatsApp Web and then had to grab your phone just to start a group call, that extra step may soon disappear. WhatsApp is testing voice and video calling for group chats on its web platform, a move that could make the browser version feel much closer to the mobile app experience.

The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest WhatsApp Web beta. While WhatsApp has been testing voice and video calls on the web for some time, the latest development expands support beyond one-on-one conversations and into group chats.

WhatsApp Web group calls with up to 32 participants

According to WABetaInfo, some beta users are now seeing support for group voice and video calls with up to 32 participants. The feature also includes screen sharing, bringing WhatsApp Web closer to dedicated communication platforms. Starting a call appears straightforward. Users can open a group chat, tap the call button and choose between a voice or video call. They can also select specific members from a group rather than calling everyone automatically. That may sound like a minor addition, but it could prove useful in larger office groups, residential communities or extended family chats where only a handful of people need to join a conversation.

Like existing WhatsApp calls, the web-based version remains end-to-end encrypted. It also supports call links, allowing users to invite others into a conversation without manually adding participants.

For many users, particularly those already spending hours on WhatsApp Web, the ability to start a quick group call without switching devices could make everyday communication more seamless. For now, the feature remains limited to select beta testers. Joining the WhatsApp Web beta is relatively straightforward through the platform's settings menu, although access to individual features is typically rolled out gradually.

For most users, this won't replace Zoom, Teams or Meet overnight. Businesses that rely on recordings, webinar tools or advanced meeting controls will still need dedicated platforms. But for quick team discussions, study groups, project check-ins and family catch-ups, WhatsApp Web could become a more capable alternative.

Redmi Turbo 5 and Motorola Edge 70 Pro compared: which phone fits your needs better?

Redmi Turbo 5 launched in India today as the latest entrant in the mid-range segment. It's also the brand's first Turbo series smartphone to debut in India, joining the performance-focused category. The Redmi Turbo 5 brings with it a large 7,540mAh battery, the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC, and a large 5,300mm2 vapour chamber cooling system. The handset also competes in a popular price segment under Rs 40,000.

For a better perspective, we compare the Redmi Turbo 5 with the Motorola Edge 70 Pro. Here's a detailed comparison to see which one's the better pick.

Redmi Turbo 5 vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: specs at a glance

Specs

Redmi Turbo 5

Motorola Edge 70 Pro

Display

6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, 3500nits peak brightness

6.8-inch Super HD curved display,144Hz refresh rate, 5,200 nits peak brightness

Processor

MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage

MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage

Rear cameras

50MP + 8MP ultra-wide

50MP primary + 50MP ultra-wide

Front camera

20MP

50MP

Battery, charging

7,540mAh, 100W HyperCharge

6,500mAh, 90W TurboPower

Software

Android 16-based Hyper OS 3, 4+6 years

Android 16-based Hello UI, 3+5 years

Redmi Turbo 5 vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: price

Redmi Turbo 5 has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 37,999 for the base variant. It's available in another variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which costs Rs 40,999. The handset is available at an introductory price of Rs 35,999 for a limited time in India. The Motorola Edge 70 Pro (review), on the other hand, is available at a starting price of Rs 39,999. This isn't the original price but a result of the ongoing memory costs issue in the industry.

If budget is a constraint, the Redmi Turbo 5 at its introductory price would be the wisest choice here.

Variant

Redmi Turbo 5 price

Motorola Edge 70 Pro price

8GB + 256GB

Rs 37,999

Rs 39,999

12GB + 256GB

Rs 40,999

Rs 42,999

Redmi Turbo 5 vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: design, display

The Redmi Turbo 5 and Motorola Edge 70 Pro take completely different approaches to design. Despite being a performance-focused phone, the Redmi Turbo 5 keeps things simple with a minimalist look, flat display, and flat edges. It comes in Turbo White, Nitro Blue, and Asphalt Black finishes. While it weighs over 200 grams due to its large battery, it makes up for it with top-tier durability, offering IP66, IP68, IP69, and even IP69K ratings.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro, on the other hand, prioritises elegance and comfort. At just 6.9mm thick, it features a lightweight build with curved edges and Pantone finishes in Lily White, Titan, and Tea, giving it a more premium in-hand feel. It also offers IP68 and IP69 protection against dust and water.

When it comes to displays, the Redmi Turbo 5 packs a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,500 nits peak brightness. The Edge 70 Pro counters with a larger 6.8-inch Super HD curved display, a smoother 144Hz refresh rate, and an impressive 5,200 nits peak brightness.

In short, the Redmi Turbo 5 is built for users who value practicality, durability, and a clean aesthetic, while the Edge 70 Pro caters to those seeking a slimmer, more premium design with a more immersive display experience.

Redmi Turbo 5 vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: chipset, battery

On paper, the Redmi Turbo 5 and Motorola Edge 70 Pro are evenly matched when it comes to raw performance. The Redmi is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, while the Motorola uses the Dimensity 8500 Extreme. Despite the different branding, both chipsets are essentially based on the same platform, meaning day-to-day performance, multitasking, and gaming should feel very similar. Both phones also pair the processor with fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for quicker app loading and smoother overall responsiveness.

Where the Redmi Turbo 5 gains an edge is thermal management. It features a larger 5,300mm² vapour chamber cooling system compared to the 4,600mm² VC setup on the Edge 70 Pro. While both should handle demanding tasks well, the Redmi could offer slightly better sustained performance during extended gaming sessions by keeping temperatures in check more effectively.

Battery life is another area where the Turbo 5 stands out. It packs a large 7,540mAh battery with 100W HyperCharge support, comfortably outperforming Motorola's 6,500mAh cell and 90W TurboPower charging. Both should easily last a full day, but the Redmi is better suited for heavy users and gamers who prioritise endurance.

Redmi Turbo 5 vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: cameras

Possibly the main difference between the Redmi Turbo 5 and the Motorola Edge 70 Pro lies in their ultra-wide cameras. Both phones feature a 50MP primary sensor, so you can expect comparable results for everyday shots in good lighting. However, Motorola pairs its main camera with a 50MP ultra-wide lens, giving it a clear advantage in terms of detail and versatility when capturing landscapes, group photos, or wider scenes.

The Redmi Turbo 5, meanwhile, opts for a more modest 8MP ultra-wide camera alongside its 50MP primary sensor. While it should get the job done for occasional wide-angle shots, it may not match the sharpness and consistency offered by Motorola. On the front, the Redmi features a 20MP selfie camera, which is also weaker compared to the Edge 70 Pro's 50MP sensor.

In short, if cameras are a priority, especially for ultra-wide shots and selfies, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the stronger pick. The Redmi Turbo 5 focuses more on delivering a capable main camera while directing its strengths towards performance and battery life rather than photography versatility.

Redmi Turbo 5 vs Motorola Edge 70 Pro: software

Software is another area where these two phones take very different approaches. The Redmi Turbo 5 runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3, which is packed with customisation options and feature-rich additions. From deeper UI tweaks to productivity tools and ecosystem integrations, HyperOS is designed for users who enjoy personalising their smartphones and exploring extra functionality. Redmi also offers an advantage in long-term support, promising four OS upgrades and six years of security patches.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro, meanwhile, ships with Android 16-based Hello UI, which offers a near-stock Android experience with minimal pre-installed apps and little to no bloatware. The interface feels clean, lightweight, and easy to navigate, making it ideal for users who prefer simplicity over extensive customisation. The company has committed to three Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.

In short, the Redmi Turbo 5 is the better choice for users who want a feature-packed software experience and longer update support. However, if you value a cleaner, more stock-like Android interface without unnecessary extras, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro has the edge. It ultimately comes down to whether you prioritise customisation or simplicity.

Summing up

Overall, the Redmi Turbo 5 and Motorola Edge 70 Pro cater to different types of users despite sharing similar core performance. The Redmi Turbo 5 stands out with its larger battery, better cooling, longer software support, and rugged durability, making it a great pick for gamers and power users. The Motorola Edge 70 Pro, meanwhile, offers a slimmer design, a cleaner software experience, and a more versatile camera setup.

If endurance and performance are your priorities, the Redmi is the stronger choice. But if you prefer a more refined everyday experience with better cameras and a premium feel, the Edge 70 Pro is hard to overlook.

The company has confirmed that both models will debut in the country on June 18th and will be available through Flipkart and the RTC India website. The earbuds have already launched in select international markets with features such as active noise cancellation (ANC), multi-device connectivity and long battery life.

Huawei FreeBuds 7i price and features

The Huawei FreeBuds 7i has been listed at Rs 13,999 and will be available in Black, White and Pink colour options. It's the more premium offering with an 11mm quad-magnet dynamic driver, support for spatial audio, head tracking, personalised audio profiles and Dynamic EQ. Huawei has also equipped the earbuds with Intelligent Dynamic ANC 4.0, claiming up to 28dB of full-band noise cancellation.

For users who spend a lot of time on calls, Huawei has included triple microphones, a bone-conduction microphone and AI-powered noise reduction. The company claims the setup can maintain voice clarity even in noisy surroundings.

Huawei claims up to eight hours of playback on a single charge and up to 35 hours with the charging case when ANC is turned off. A quick 10-minute charge is said to deliver up to four hours of listening time.

The earbuds also support Bluetooth 5.4, dual-device connectivity, automatic device switching and compatibility with Android, iOS and Windows devices. An IP54 rating adds protection against dust and splashes.

Huawei FreeBuds SE 4 price and features

The more affordable Huawei FreeBuds SE 4 is priced at Rs 7,999 and will be offered in Black and White colour options. The earbuds feature 10 mm dynamic drivers and support ANC of up to 24dB. Huawei has included four EQ presets, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity and support for SBC and AAC codecs. Like the FreeBuds 7i, the earbuds work with both Android and iOS devices.

Battery performance could be one of the biggest selling points. Huawei claims up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge and as much as 50 hours of total battery life with the charging case. With ANC enabled, the figures drop to seven hours and 35 hours, respectively.

For buyers, the FreeBuds 7i appears to be targeting those willing to pay extra for stronger noise cancellation, more advanced audio features and improved call quality. The FreeBuds SE 4, meanwhile, looks geared towards value-focused users who prioritise battery life and everyday convenience. As always, the final verdict will depend on real-world performance and launch offers.

India's TWS segment is no longer won on features alone. Active noise cancellation (ANC), long battery life and multi-device connectivity, once premium features, are now common even in more affordable earbuds from brands such as Nothing, CMF, OnePlus, Realme and OPPO. That means Huawei's latest offerings will have to do more than boast impressive specifications to stand out.

Redmi K90 Ultra to launch in China this month, could arrive with cooling fan, 8,000mAh+ battery

[highlights]

Redmi K90 Ultra will join the performance-focused K90 series.

It's tipped to feature a cooling fan like the Redmi K90 Max.

The handset is expected to be an affordable alternative to flagships.

[/highlights]

Redmi K90 Ultra is set to launch in China this month as a new gaming-focused smartphone. It's a new addition to its K90 series that promises high-end gaming features, possibly at a more accessible price point. The K90 Ultra is also expected to borrow several ideas from the K90 Max, Redmi's recently launched smartphone with a built-in cooling fan.

Redmi K90 Ultra China launch details

Redmi has officially confirmed that the K90 Ultra will launch in China later this month. Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing says the device is designed to continue the gaming-first philosophy introduced with the K90 Max, while targeting the CNY 3,000 (Rs 41,973 approx) segment, where options have become increasingly limited.

Redmi K90 Ultra specifications (expected)

While Redmi has yet to reveal the full specifications, leaks from tipster Digital Chat Station paint an interesting picture. The K90 Ultra is tipped to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite-series processor paired with an active fan-based cooling system. If true, the setup could help deliver stable performance during extended gaming sessions by preventing thermal throttling.

The Redmi K90 Ultra could also pack a battery larger than 8,000mAh, which would make it one of the biggest in its class. Previous certification listings have also hinted at support for 100W wired fast charging, offering the possibility of combining endurance with quick top-ups.

Based on what's been revealed so far, the Redmi K90 Ultra could appeal to gamers and power users who prioritise sustained performance and battery life over premium extras like advanced camera systems. If Redmi manages to keep pricing competitive, it may emerge as one of the strongest value-for-money gaming phones in its segment. Smartphone gamers looking for a mid-range handset with sustained performance and who can wait for the official launch and reviews, the K90 Ultra could be a strong contender.

There's no word on an India launch yet, but the Redmi Turbo 5 launched in India today as the first phone from the lineup. This suggests that we may see more performance-focused phones from Redmi in India.

Telegram "temporarily restricted" in India ahead of NEET-UG 2026 re-exam: here's why

The Centre has temporarily restricted Telegram in India until June 22nd and disabled its message-editing feature until June 30th. Here's why.

[highlights]

The Centre has temporarily restricted Telegram in India until June 22nd.

The app's message-editing feature has been disabled until June 30th in the country.

The NTA says Telegram's editing feature was allegedly being misused to create fake evidence of question paper leaks.

[/highlights]

Telegram has been temporarily restricted in India ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination in an effort to curb fraud, misinformation and fake question paper leak claims surrounding the medical entrance test. The NEET-UG 2026 re-exam is scheduled to be held on June 21st.

According to the National Testing Agency which conducts the examination, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has restricted Telegram access in India until June 22nd. Further, the government has also asked the platform to disable its message-editing feature in the country until June 30th.

Why has Telegram been temporarily restricted in India?

The NTA said Telegram's editing feature is a concern because it can allegedly be misused to create fabricated evidence of paper leaks. According to the NTA, some channel administrators have been editing older messages after an examination is over and replacing attachments with actual question papers. Since the original timestamp remains unchanged, the altered post can appear to show that the paper was shared before the exam took place. Such posts are then circulated on social media as "proof" of leaks, creating confusion among students and undermining confidence in the examination process. The suspension of message editing is intended to prevent such manipulation during the examination period.

The action follows coordinated efforts by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and other law enforcement agencies to tackle Telegram-based fraud networks targeting students. According to the agency, several channels, groups and bots promoting fake NEET question papers have already been removed. Investigators claim some networks collected significant sums of money from students by promising access to examination papers that did not exist.

Students are advised to rely only on official NTA announcements for updates and avoid making payments to individuals or groups promising exam-related material. While the temporary Telegram restrictions may inconvenience some users, the agency maintains that the measures are limited in duration and aimed at protecting the integrity of the examination.

That's a notable figure for this segment and could help the earbuds compete with offerings from brands like Realme, CMF, and Redmi, which have also been pushing stronger ANC performance in affordable TWS products. The TWS also supports multiple listening modes to switch between deeper noise isolation and greater awareness of the surroundings.

For audio, the earbuds feature 12mm titanium-coated drivers that promise deep bass and crisp highs. OnePlus is also focusing on comfort, with each earbud weighing just 4.3 grams, making them suitable for long listening sessions, whether you're commuting, working, or binge-watching content.

The Nord Buds 4 also come equipped with a six-microphone AI Clear Call system designed to improve voice clarity during calls by reducing background noise. For gaming, the earbuds offer low-latency support along with 3D Spatial Audio and Game Sound Spatial Audio for a more immersive gaming experience.

Battery life is another area where the Nord Buds 4 could stand out. OnePlus claims up to 54 hours of total playback with the charging case. The earbuds have also received TÜV Rheinland Battery certification, which suggests a focus on long-term battery reliability. OnePlus also claims a quick 10-minute charge provides up to 11 hours of playback.

The OnePlus Nord Buds 4 check many of the boxes buyers look for today: strong ANC, long battery life, lightweight design, and gaming-friendly features. If OnePlus manages to price them competitively, they could be a compelling option for users seeking premium features without stretching their budget. Those in the market for new budget TWS and prioritise strong ANC and battery life, keep an eye on the Nord Buds 4, but hold off on purchasing until pricing is confirmed and initial reviews are out.

Mercedes-Benz S450e PHEV launch: Why It’s the Ultimate Tech-Forward Sedan

Preferred by heads of state, oligarchs and tech bros unanimously across the globe, the S-Class is different things to different powerful people. It's either a statement of success or the quiet tech flex if you opt for the AMG variants of the uber-saloon. As Mercedes-Benz (India) CEO, Santosh Iyer emphasised during the new S-Class launch, Mumbai has had a special relationship with this model over the decades, even before the brand set up base in India.

Since its first formal incarnation in 1954, it has unapologetically used the finest materials, the most advanced engineering, and the heaviest investment in occupant comfort. Seven decades and a dozen generations later, Mercedes-Benz India has launched the S450e, the first plug-in hybrid ever offered in the flagship sedan for our market.

At Rs. 2.20 crore for the Launch Edition and Rs. 2.38 crore for the bespoke MANUFAKTUR Edition, it is not just a mere nip and tuck job. With more than 2700 new or revised components, it is practically a new car wearing a very familiar face. Deliveries are slated to begin in Q4 2026, so if you're short of a couple of big ones, you have some time to save up.

The Electric Argument

The S450e pairs a Euro 7-compliant 3.0-litre inline-six with a 120kW electric motor to produce a combined 435hp and 680Nm of torque. The sprint to 100km/h takes 5.7 seconds, propelled only by the rear wheels, which is brisk. Thanks to its generous 22kWh battery, the more meaningful number is 115km of pure electric range, enough to cover a typical daily work commute without the combustion engine waking up at all. With a claimed average of 32 km/litre, even if you do wake up the six-cylinder engine, the intelligent battery management system will turn on the Battery Hold feature to preserve EV range and coast along with ICE power on longer stretches. It is also the first PHEV to support fast charging up to 60kW DC, so topping up the battery should no longer be the overnight exercise it once was.

CLA Started It, S-Class Scales It

The electric CLA, launched earlier this year, was the first Mercedes to run the full MB.OS platform, with four NVIDIA supercomputers monitoring and controlling the ADAS, powertrain, infotainment and Connectivity functions. But the S-Class feels like it has been architected for the long game toward Level 4 autonomy.

[gallery link="file" size="full" td_select_gallery_slide="slide" ids="704929,704928"]

The India-bound S450e will come equipped with 15 airbags, including front-facing airbags for rear passengers, seat belt airbags, 13.1-inch rear OLED screens with gesture-sensing cameras, and a 4D Burmester surround system running 1610 watts through 31 speakers and eight body-mounted exciters. Dolby Atmos via the native Apple Music and Amazon Music support will come as standard.

[gallery link="file" size="full" td_select_gallery_slide="slide" ids="704930,704931"]

The Supercomputer Inside

Strip away the leather and the Burmester and the Manufaktur paint options though and what you find is one of the most sophisticated computing platforms in any production vehicle. MB.OS, Mercedes' in-house operating system, runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin SoC. That chip processes 254 trillion operations per second and sits at the centre of a system managing 27 ADAS sensors, active air filtration rated at 99.9% purification, and intelligent AIRMATIC suspension that communicates with the Mercedes-Benz cloud to anticipate road imperfections before the wheels encounter them. Car-to-X data shared by other vehicles on the fleet tells the suspension what is coming. On Indian roads, this can be the difference between a novelty feature and a genuine quality-of-life argument.

The MBUX Superscreen brings a generative AI voice assistant capable of natural conversation in 27 languages, augmented reality navigation via Google Maps, and a Zero Layer interface designed to surface contextual information instead of you digging through menus. Even the familiar "Hey Mercedes" assistant is now powered by large language models, which means it handles context and follow-up questions in a way that the old keyword-detection approach simply could not.

A dream called CarPlay Ultra

Since MB.OS spans multiple domains like infotainment, EV battery management, automated driving, and vehicle functions simultaneously, handing the entire cockpit experience to Apple's interface would mean surrendering control of all four. So it's safe to assume that Mercedes has abandoned support for the Ultra tier of CarPlay that commandeers the instrument cluster, climate controls, and virtually every screen in the cabin. Standard CarPlay remains on board, and Mercedes has partnered with Google instead for navigation and machine-learning capability, baked into its own MB.OS.

BMW scores on screen

The S-Class's most fierce competitor, the BMW 7 Series, is not sitting idle, though. With its 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen with integrated Amazon Fire TV, it delivers the superior rear-seat theatrical experience and the one trick the S-Class simply cannot counter. Dual 13.1-inch OLED screens in the rear are great, but they are not cinematic, and the 2026 7 Series facelift also arrives with a pillar-to-pillar Panoramic Vision display and more aggressive power outputs across the range.

Rising above the rest

None of that changes the fundamental argument of an S-Class purchase, though. It dominates in safety tech and pure engineering marvels like the micro-LED DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps that project up to 600 metres ahead! Or the rear axle steering that turns the rear wheels up to 10 degrees, optionally, trimming the turning circle by nearly two metres. To top it all off, the Manufaktur Edition offers a depth of personalisation that no competitor's options list quite replicates. With a back seat that has been refined over 70 years, the S-Class remains the best mobile office the Indian market has to offer. Competitors have screens, but this car has a legacy and a very fast supercomputer running it!

Redmi Turbo 5 launched in India with MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC and 7,540mAh battery: price, specifications

The Redmi Turbo 5 has officially debuted in India as the first smartphone in the company's Turbo series lineup.

[highlights]

The Redmi Turbo 5 is priced in India starting at Rs 35,999.

Key specifications include a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, fast LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, and a mammoth battery capacity.

Redmi Turbo 5 sale in India starts from June 19th onwards via Amazon.in.

[/highlights]

The Redmi Turbo 5 has officially debuted in India as the first smartphone in the company's Turbo series lineup. Aimed at mobile gamers and performance enthusiasts, the handset combines a powerful upper mid-range chipset with a massive battery. Key specifications include a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC, a 7,540mAh battery with 100W fast charging support, and a large 5,300mm2 vapour chamber cooling system for sustained performance under heavy workloads.

Redmi Turbo 5 price in India, availability

The Redmi Turbo 5 is priced in India at Rs 35,999 for the base 8GB RAM variant, while the 12GB RAM option costs Rs 38,999. These are introductory prices for a limited period and come with up to Rs 2,000 instant bank discounts with select bank credit cards such as SBI, ICICI, and Axis. The sale of the smartphone starts from June 19th, 12 pm onwards via Amazon.in, mi.com, and partnered retail stores. The handset comes in Turbo White, Nitro Blue, and Asphalt Black colour options.

The actual selling price of the smartphone is Rs 37,999 for the base variant, while the top-end variant costs Rs 40,999.

Variants

Price

8GB + 256GB

Rs 37,999

12GB + 256GB

Rs 40,999

Redmi Turbo 5 specifications

The Redmi Turbo 5 debuts with a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display that bears a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1268 x 2756 pixels. The combination should translate into sharper visuals and smoother animations while scrolling through apps, gaming, or consuming multimedia content. Furthermore, the device should be easier to manage, considering its relatively compact form factor, which measures 157.5 x 75.2 x 8.2mm in dimensions. The weight is north of 200 grams, but that's excusable given its massive battery capacity.

The Redmi Turbo 5 houses a 7,540mAh battery, which is quite significant and could make it particularly appealing to gamers, frequent travellers, and heavy users who prioritise battery endurance. The bundled 100W HyperCharge support should also minimise downtime, allowing users to quickly top up the battery when needed. The smartphone is also designed to handle your adventures and minor mishaps, thanks to the IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K water and dust resistance ratings.

Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. While real-world performance remains to be tested, the hardware suggests that the Redmi Turbo 5 is geared towards users who prioritise gaming, multitasking, and sustained performance.

Redmi claims that the smartphone scores over 20 lakh on AnTuTu, which outperforms most rivals in the segment, including the OnePlus Nord CE6 and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro. The inclusion of a large 5,300mm2 vapour chamber cooling system should help keep temperatures under control during extended gaming sessions and demanding workloads.

For photography, the handset features a dual-camera setup comprising a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Optical image stabilisation should aid in reducing blur in low-light shots and videos, while the ultra-wide camera offers added versatility for landscape and group photos. Selfie duties are handled by a 20MP front-facing camera that should be adequate for social media uploads and video calls.

The rear cameras feature multi-colour accent LED pixel matrix rings, fully customisable for multiple phone functions, such as call notifications, charging, media, and gaming. This adds to the aesthetics of the phone and serves as a reminder when the phone is face down. Software-wise, the Redmi Turbo 5 runs Android 16-based on Hyper OS 3 out of the box. It is the same software that you get on the company's flagship Xiaomi 17 series and other smartphones.

On paper, the Redmi Turbo 5 appears to be aimed squarely at buyers who value performance and battery life above all else. The Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, advanced cooling system, and large battery make it an attractive option for mobile gamers and power users. However, users who prioritise camera versatility may find some competing smartphones in the segment offering more comprehensive camera setups, including dedicated telephoto sensors.

Given its competitive pricing, the Redmi Turbo 5 seems to be a compelling option for power users.

Parameters

Hardware

Display

6.59-inch AMOLED display, 120Hz, 3,500 nits

Chipset

MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra

RAM and storage type

LPDDR5X Ultra and UFS 4.1

Rear cameras

50MP + 8MP

Front camera

20MP

Battery and charging

7,540mAh, 100W HyperCharge

Software

HyperOS 3

Durability

IP66, IP68,IP69, IP69K

Dimensions and weight

157.5 x 75.2 x 8.2mm, 204g

iPhone Ultra/Fold delayed or no iPhone 18 this year? Apple supplier's comments drop hints

An Apple supplier has dropped comments that seem to suggest the launch timeline of either the iPhone 18 or iPhone Ultra. Here's more.

[highlights]

An Apple supplier has hinted that a major product launch has been pushed to early 2027.

Multiple reports have claimed the standard iPhone 18 could be delayed until spring 2027.

It remains unclear whether the delayed device is the iPhone 18 or Apple's first foldable iPhone.

[/highlights]

Apple could be preparing for its biggest iPhone launch shake-up in more than a decade - we've heard this before but the clues are now getting stronger. Fresh comments from a key supplier have added credibility to previous reports that the standard iPhone 18 will not launch this year, although some reports claim the delayed product could instead be Apple's long-rumoured foldable iPhone, presumably being called iPhone Ultra.

For years, Apple has unveiled its entire flagship iPhone lineup together in September. That tradition is under review this year as past reports have pointed to a split launch strategy starting with the iPhone 18 series, and the new comments add fuel to the fire.

Apple to host separate launch events in September and Spring 2027?

The latest clue comes from Largan Precision, Apple's primary supplier of iPhone camera lenses. Speaking at the company's annual shareholders' meeting, chairman Lin En-ping said (via) a major US customer had postponed the launch of a new product until the first quarter of 2027. As per machine translation, his exact comment was, "The fourth quarter of this year will be busier than in previous years due to customer new product scheduling factors, with some new products expected to be launched in the third quarter and others postponed to early next year."

While Lin did not identify either the customer or the device, the comments are significant because Apple suppliers rarely discuss future product schedules publicly. He also noted that some new products would launch in the third quarter of this year while others had been pushed to early next year.

The remarks align with multiple reports claiming Apple will unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max this September, while delaying the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the next-generation iPhone Air until spring 2027. However, there is another possibility. Some reports claim the delayed product referenced by Largan could actually be Apple's first foldable iPhone, which has been variously referred to as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra.

The contradictory reports have created uncertainty around Apple's roadmap. Earlier leaks suggested the foldable iPhone was almost certain to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup this autumn. With supply chain signals suggesting Apple may be pushing at least one major product into 2027, we cannot say with guarantee now whether the iPhone 18 will launch this year or the iPhone Ultra.

A middle-ground scenario is also possible. Apple could preview the foldable device this September and release it months later, similar to how it announced the iPhone X alongside the iPhone 8 series before shipping it at a later date.

Anyone planning to upgrade this year will likely still see new Pro models arrive on schedule. Buyers interested in Apple's foldable phone, however, may need to prepare for a longer wait. Despite the uncertainty, analysts remain optimistic about Apple's foldable ambitions, with some forecasts predicting shipments of around 11 million units in the device's first year whenever it eventually launches. While Apple's silence is typical, the supplier comments lend significant weight to the rumours, suggesting a shift could be underway.

If the reports are accurate, the split launch could help Apple better differentiate its premium and mainstream iPhones, giving the Pro models more room to shine during the crucial holiday season. It may also ease manufacturing pressures as Apple expands its lineup and prepares to enter the foldable market, where the company is widely expected to prioritise refinement and reliability over being first to market.

UK moves to restrict social media access for children under 16 starting 2027

The UK plans to ban social media for under-16s from 2027, with age checks, ID verification and age assurance tools used to enforce the rules.

[highlights]

The UK plans to ban social media access for kids under 16 years old from 2027.

The move aims to protect children online and reduce harmful exposure at an earlier age.

Platforms will also have to block under-16s from livestreaming and stranger contact.

[/highlights]

The UK plans to ban social media for under-16s by spring 2027, in a move Prime Minister Keir Starmer says is meant to protect children online. The government says the decision follows growing concern over how social platforms affect young users, with 90 percent of parents who responded to its consultation supporting a minimum age of 16.

Why is it being done?

The aim here is to reduce harm before it starts, rather than deal with it after children are already exposed to it. The plan fits into a broader global push for tougher online safety rules for children, with regulators in other major markets also moving to tighten age checks and platform responsibility.

The ban will apply to major social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Facebook and X, while apps like WhatsApp and Signal will stay outside the rules because they are mainly messaging services rather than public social networks.

The government is also trying to close other loopholes. Platforms will have to stop kids under 16 from livestreaming and block strangers from contacting them, with those protections switched on by default for under-17s, so children do not face a sudden change at 16.

The plan also extends to AI chatbots which have become popular lately. "Romantic companion" bots will need to keep users under 18 out, while other chatbots must limit intimate features for minors, highlighting the wider concerns about children forming unsafe relationships with AI tools.

Starmer says the law will be introduced before Christmas, with rollout expected in spring 2027. The reasoning behind the move is simple: the government believes the risks of open access now outweigh the benefits, and it wants stronger guardrails in place before those harms become harder to manage.

How will the ban be enforced?

Based on a report by the BBC, a ban would likely be enforced through age verification systems that check whether a user is over 16 before allowing access. That usually means platforms may ask for ID, use face-based age estimation, or rely on other age-checking technology.

The UK government has asked Ofcom to quickly study the most effective ways to verify age. The regulator is expected to identify which methods work best and how platforms should apply them in practice. This is not a new approach in the UK as some adult sites already have to run age checks, and Ofcom has penalised platforms that failed to comply.

While the government's aim is clear, enforcing the ban will be far more complicated in practice. Age checks, VPN workarounds and platform compliance will all test how effective the new rules really are. That means the ban may rely not just on technology, but also on how well platforms detect and block circumvention.

Vivo T5 Lite 5G key specifications leaked: Dimensity 6300, 6,500mAh battery and more

[highlights]

Vivo T5 Lite is tipped to house a 6,500mAh battery.

The handset could be powered by the Dimensity 6300 SoC.

It's expected to launch in India soon.

[/highlights]

Vivo could be adding a new smartphone to its T5 lineup. The Vivo T5 Lite 5G has surfaced online as a new budget smartphone. It would succeed last year's Vivo T4 Lite, which launched as a budget-friendly 5G device. Ahead of its official debut, key specifications of the Vivo T5 Lite 5G have been leaked, revealing what we can expect from the upcoming smartphone.

Vivo T5 Lite 5G specifications (expected)

The Vivo T5 Lite 5G is tipped to feature a 6.74-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also said to offer up to 1,200 nits of High Brightness Mode (HBM), which should improve outdoor visibility. Under the hood, the Vivo T5 Lite 5G is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. The processor has already appeared in several budget 5G smartphones and has proven capable of handling everyday tasks, casual gaming, and multitasking with reasonable efficiency. The device will be available in three variants: 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 256GB.

The biggest talking point, however, may be its large 6,500mAh battery paired with 44W FlashCharge support. If accurate, the T5 Lite would offer a larger battery than many rivals in the segment while maintaining a relatively slim 8.39mm profile and a weight of 209 grams. It would also be an upgrade over the T4 Lite's 6,000mAh battery and 15W charging support.

For photography, the handset is said to feature a 50MP primary rear camera alongside a 5MP front-facing shooter. An IP65 rating is also specified, protecting against dust and water splashes. The Vivo T5 Lite 5G is expected to launch in Twilight Shadow and Wave Blue colour options.

Based on the leaked specifications, the T5 Lite 5G may not aim to redefine the affordable smartphone experience through raw performance. Instead, it appears to focus on practical strengths: long battery life, a smooth display, fast charging, and durability. With the ongoing price hike, finding a capable 5G smartphone in the budget segment has already become expensive. The Vivo T5 Lite could be a good option if pricing is done right.

Buyers prioritising endurance and everyday usability over benchmark numbers may find it worth keeping an eye on once pricing is officially announced. If you're currently on an older 4G device and battery life is paramount, this could be a strong contender, but hold off until the price is revealed to compare value.

Vivo X Fold 6 to debut on June 26th with 200MP camera, MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition

[highlights]

Vivo X Fold 6 is launching with OriginOS 6 Fold.

The foldable will also be compatible with a Zeiss teleconverter.

It's confirmed to launch in China soon.

[/highlights]

Vivo has officially confirmed the launch date of its next-gen foldable, the X Fold 6. The brand has been teasing the X Fold 6, revealing key details like the chipset, cameras, software, and design as well. The Vivo X Fold 6 is confirmed to feature a 200MP camera, the Mediatek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, and more.

Vivo X Fold 6 China launch date

After weeks of teasers, Vivo has officially confirmed that the X Fold 6 will debut in China on June 26 at 7:00 PM CST (4:30 PM IST). Pre-orders are already live across major online platforms in the country, with early buyers entering a lucky draw for a chance to win the device for free.

Vivo X Fold 6: what to expect

Vivo is marketing the X Fold 6 as a "foldable mini DSLR," and the headline feature is its camera setup. It packs a 200MP sensor alongside the first Zeiss APO super periscope telephoto lens on a foldable. The device also features Vivo's Blueprint V3+ imaging chip and supports the Vivo Zeiss G2 teleconverter, extending the focal length equivalent to 200mm for enhanced zoom capabilities. This would bring the Vivo X Fold 6 closer to its flagship siblings, which are known for their camera prowess.

Design-wise, the foldable arrives in a new "Blue Hole" finish inspired by deep-sea sinkholes, complemented by rounded corners and a 2.5D metal frame with flat edges. Both displays use next-generation luminescent materials, while the inner panel adopts Samsung's M14 technology, promising improved brightness and efficiency.

Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a chipset that Vivo says was developed specifically with foldables in mind. The brand claims a 111 percent boost in NPU performance and a 56 percent reduction in power consumption over its predecessor. It ships with OriginOS 6 Fold and an upgraded Atomic Workbench for enhanced multitasking.

On paper, the X Fold 6 looks set to challenge rivals by addressing two long-standing foldable concerns: cameras and productivity. Clubbed with a large battery, the Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to have an edge over rivals like the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8. Buyers who have avoided foldables due to imaging compromises may finally have a compelling reason to take a second look. If you're a mobile photography enthusiast who has been waiting for a foldable with serious camera capabilities, the X Fold 6 might be worth considering, but wait for comprehensive reviews and global pricing before making a decision.
