Vivo S2 spotted on BIS certification site, India launch appears imminent

The Vivo S2 is set to launch in India soon with the first official clues emerging. Here's what to expect from the phone.

[highlights]

The Vivo S2 (model number V2576) has appeared on the BIS certification website.

The smartphone is expected to launch in India in July.

The Vivo S2 could be priced between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000.

[/highlights]

Vivo's long-dormant S-series smartphones could finally be making a comeback in India, as we'd reported earlier. The upcoming Vivo S2 has now been spotted by us on the BIS certification website, marking the first official sign that the company is preparing to launch the device in the country.

The certification comes shortly after our exclusive which revealed that Vivo was planning to revive the S-series nearly seven years after its last India launch. The lineup was last represented by the Vivo S1 in 2019, a budget smartphone priced below Rs 20,000. This time, however, Vivo appears to have much bigger ambitions for the series.

Vivo S2 India launch timeline

The BIS listing, carrying the model number V2576, doesn't reveal any specifications, but it indicates that a launch is drawing closer. Industry sources had previously told us that Vivo is targeting a July launch window for the Vivo S2 in India, and the latest certification aligns with that timeline. The smartphone with the same model number was also reportedly spotted in the GSMA database earlier, suggesting Vivo had already begun regulatory approvals.

Expected pricing

According to previous information shared by industry sources, the Vivo S2 could be priced between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000 in India. If accurate, it would represent a major shift from the original Vivo S1 and place the device in the sub-flagship range, just a segment below Vivo's popular V-series lineup. At this price point, the Vivo S2 would compete against devices such as the OnePlus 15R, iQOO 15R and even Vivo's own V70. The V70 already offers a compact premium design and Zeiss-backed cameras, which means Vivo will need a clear differentiator for the S2.

For buyers, the Vivo S2 could be worth waiting for if photography and design rank higher on the priority list as the company is known to concentrate on both. However, exact specifications remain unknown and it wouldn't be long before we get to know those, either through more certifications or Vivo itself. Those looking for flagship-grade processors or gaming-focused hardware may want to wait for the official announcement before making a purchase decision.

Nothing teases two new products with Pokemons, new phone and earbuds likely on the way

Nothing has kicked off its signature Pokemon campaign for another set of launches and here's what we think they could be.

[highlights]

Nothing has shared new Pokemon-themed teasers featuring Blastoise and Jumpluff.

The Blastoise teaser was also posted by Nothing India, confirming that at least one of the upcoming devices is expected to launch in India.

The teasers could be linked to a new Nothing or CMF smartphone and the Nothing Ear (3a) wireless earbuds.

[/highlights]

In classic Nothing fashion, the company has kicked off another round of its trademark teaser campaign, using Pokemons to hint at upcoming products. The company has shared images of Pokemons Blastoise and Jumpluff in its signature dot-matrix style, suggesting that at least two new devices are on the way. The company's internal codenames for products are Pokemon characters, and every new launch is teased with that particular Pokemon.

While Nothing has not confirmed what the teasers refer to, a new smartphone and a pair of wireless earbuds could be on the way as per market speculation. Interestingly, Nothing India has also shared the Blastoise teaser, indicating that at least one of the upcoming products is expected to launch in the country.

Upcoming Nothing/CMF phone

The Blastoise teaser has sparked speculation that Nothing is preparing to launch a new smartphone. The Pokemon is known for its power and durability, so maybe nothing could be looking at launching a phone that is performance-focused. One possibility is a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which has been notably absent from Nothing's launch calendar this year. There have been leaks associated with the CMF Phone 3 Pro too, suggesting it could feature upgraded materials, a metal frame, a redesigned camera module inspired by the Nothing Phone series, and a Qualcomm chipset. A larger 5,500mAh battery with 45W charging support has also been rumoured. However, a tipster earlier suggested it could launch around August.

There is another theory. Since the Blastoise teaser was posted by Nothing India rather than CMF by Nothing, some reports suggest it could represent an entirely different Nothing-branded smartphone instead of a CMF device. Either way, the teaser suggests that Nothing is continuing to expand its portfolio.

Nothing Ear (3a) also coming?

The Jumpluff teaser appears more likely to be linked to an audio product. Recent leaks have pointed to the launch of the Nothing Ear (3a), a successor to the Nothing Ear (a). The earbuds are tipped to offer features including 11 mm dynamic drivers, active noise cancellation, spatial audio, LDAC support and custom EQ controls. They are also expected to retain Nothing's transparent design language that has helped its products stand out. The pricing of the device has been leaked to be EUR 99 (around Rs 10,700).

Nothing appears to be preparing launches across both smartphones and audio categories. The company has built a reputation for combining distinctive design with competitive pricing, so upcoming announcements will likely be worth watching if you're considering a new phone or pair of earbuds in the coming months. Keep reading this space for more updates.

OPPO Reno 16 Pro, Reno 16 and Reno 16F global launch officially confirmed

[highlights]

The OPPO Reno 16 lineup has three phones.

OPPO is launching the Reno 16 series in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The lineup is expected to launch in India as well.

[/highlights]

OPPO has officially kicked off the global launch of the Reno 16 series after launching it in China last month. The Reno 16 lineup is scheduled to launch in Indonesia on July 3rd and in Malaysia on July 8th. Details about the Reno 16 series are available on dedicated microsites of OPPO's Malaysia and Indonesia websites. The upcoming phones are also teased with K-Pop group Baby Monster. OPPO is tipped to launch the Reno 16 lineup in India as well, with the Reno 15F rebranded as Reno 16c here.

OPPO Reno 16 series global launch details

According to official teasers shared by OPPO, the lineup will include three phones: Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16F. All three phones are releasing in Malaysia and Indonesia, with pre-orders already live in both markets. The Reno 16 will be available in 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants and in Pop White and Twilight Violet colours. The Reno 16 Pro comes in a single 12GB + 512GB variant with two colour options of Pop White and Starlight Black.

The Reno 16F will launch as the most affordable one in the lineup, and in two variants: 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. This handset will have peppy colour options, including Dream Purple, Pop White, and Twilight Violet.

OPPO is also offering special Baby Monster gifts with the purchase of the Reno 16 series in these markets. In addition to the phones, OPPO is also launching the Bubble accessory, which is a small display that can be attached to the back of the Reno 16 series. The OPPO Enco Air 5 and Air 5s will be launched as well.

OPPO Reno 16 series: what to expect

The Reno 16 Pro and Reno 16 are tipped to feature a compact 6.32-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The 144Hz refresh rate means smoother scrolling and gaming for avid mobile gamers. The Pro model could get MediaTek Dimensity 8550, while the vanilla model gets the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC. Battery capacities could be different, too, as the Reno 16 Pro is tipped to house a 6,700mAh battery, while the Reno 16 carries a 6,000mAh battery. While the battery capacities should be enough for regular usage, there are rivals offering larger capacities, even beyond 7,000mAh.

Both phones could also feature a 200MP primary camera and a 3.5x telephoto lens. This camera setup would give the Reno 16 series an edge over rivals, especially with the telephoto lens. With these specs, the Reno 16 series would possibly compete with the Vivo S60 series.

The Reno 16F, on the other hand, is expected to feature a bigger 6.57-inch display, the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, and a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens. It's tipped to house a 6,500mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC charging support.

Based on these leaked details, the Reno 16 Pro will be the premium option targeting users seeking a flagship-style photography experience in a compact form factor, while the Reno 16 looks positioned as a balanced all-rounder with premium cameras and a more mainstream chipset. The Reno 16 FS would be the affordable alternative, offering a reliable battery life and telephoto photography at a more accessible price point.

If you currently own a Reno 15 series, wait for reviews to see if the upgrades are worth it. But if you're planning to upgrade to a new mid-range phone, the Reno 16 could be worth going for, depending on your priorities.

Hisense launches E8S Mini-LED TV series in India starting at Rs 57,990: check price, specifications

Hisense has launched the E8S Mini-LED TV series in India, starting at ₹57,990 for the 55-inch model with a 144Hz display and Devialet-tuned sound.

[highlights]

Hisense has launched the E8S ULED Mini-LED TV series in India.

The TV series brings a 144Hz display, ideal for gaming.

The 55-inch model starts at Rs 57,990.

[/highlights]

Hisense has launched the E8S ULED Mini-LED TV series in India, expanding its premium TV range for online buyers. The new lineup targets users who want higher picture quality, gaming-friendly features and better sound without moving into the premium price bracket. So, let's take a closer look at the new lineup and its key features.

Hisense E8S Mini-LED series: features, specifications

The E8S series uses Hisense's Mini-LED display technology with full-array local dimming, which helps the TV produce deeper blacks, stronger contrast and better detail in dark scenes. Hisense also says the TVs use Hi-QLED Colour and enhanced brightness, which should make colours look richer and more natural in movies, sports and games.

The TVs come with a native 144Hz refresh rate, which should make motion look smoother in fast-moving content and gaming. That is one of the biggest draws here, especially for buyers who want a premium TV that can also handle next-gen consoles more comfortably.

Hisense has also added its Hi-View AI Engine to adjust picture quality in real time. The 85-inch model gets the Hi-View AI Engine Pro, which should help sharpen clarity and detail even further.

Sound is another focus. The E8S series includes a built-in subwoofer tuned by Devialet, which should give the TV deeper bass and fuller sound without needing a separate soundbar right away.

The TVs run on VIDAA Smart OS, which should make navigation quick and simple. Hisense has also added HDR10+ Adaptive, Dolby Vision IQ, Filmmaker Mode, Pantone Validated colour, an AI RGB light sensor and hands-free voice control, all of which are meant to make the TV easier to use and better suited to different rooms and viewing conditions.

Where does the new series fit?

The Hisense E8S ULED Mini-LED TV series starts at Rs 57,990 for the 55-inch model. It will be sold exclusively online through Amazon and Flipkart, with the larger 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch variants also joining the line-up. Hisense is also offering launch benefits such as no-cost EMI options of up to 18 months and early-buyer discounts.

At Rs 57,990 for the 55-inch model, the Hisense E8S sits in a competitive price band where buyers also have options from Lumio, Samsung and LG. Lumio's 55-inch Vision 9 is cheaper at Rs 44,999, so it may appeal more to value-focused buyers who still want Mini-LED features.

Samsung and LG, on the other hand, usually cost more in this size range, but they have more brand trust and more familiar smart TV platforms. That means the E8S is being positioned in the middle, more premium than budget Mini-LED TVs but still cheaper than many big-brand alternatives.

Hisense sweetens the deal with extra features like the 144Hz display and Devialet-tuned sound, which should help it become distinctive enough for buyers who want better gaming performance without paying a more premium price.

Alleged OnePlus N6 appears on Geekbench ahead of India launch, MediaTek 6-series chipset tipped

A OnePlus phone, alleged to be the OnePlus N6, has surfaced on Geekbench and here are the performance results.

[highlights]

The OnePlus N6 has allegedly been spotted on Geekbench with a MediaTek chipset.

The benchmark listing shows scores of 788 in the single-core test and 1,993 in the multi-core test.

OnePlus has confirmed that the N6 will launch in India on June 30th.

[/highlights]

OnePlus is gearing up to expand its portfolio in India with the launch of the OnePlus N6 on June 30th. Coming as a new entry-level offering, the device has now allegedly surfaced on the Geekbench platform, giving us an early look at some of its core specifications related to performance.

The OnePlus N6 is expected to sit in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment, which OnePlus exited for a short while by raising prices of the Nord CE 6 Lite.

OnePlus N6 specifications revealed on Geekbench

An unannounced OnePlus smartphone carrying the model number CPH2955 has appeared on Geekbench, according to a report by Gadgets360. According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the model number belongs to the upcoming OnePlus N6. The listing reveals an octa-core MediaTek MT6835 chipset, which is believed to be either the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 or Dimensity 6100+ processor. The chip is paired with 5.49GB of RAM, which will likely be marketed as 6GB RAM.

The processor configuration includes six efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz and two performance cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz. The listing also points to an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and Android 16 out of the box, likely running OxygenOS 16 software. The phone achieved 788 points in the single-core test and 1,993 points in the multi-core benchmark. These scores suggest performance in line with other affordable smartphones powered by MediaTek's entry-level 5G chipsets.

While these numbers may not rival devices powered by the Snapdragon 7-series or Dimensity 7000-series chips, they should be sufficient for daily tasks, social media, video streaming and casual gaming. The listing suggests that OnePlus is focusing on battery life and everyday performance rather than chasing benchmark records. The company has revealed the battery capacity to be 8,000mAh, which suggests the USP could be endurance. OnePlus claims the battery can deliver up to three days of usage and maintain healthy performance for up to seven years.

OnePlus N6 India launch and expected price

OnePlus has already confirmed that the N6 will launch in India on June 30th at 12 PM IST. The smartphone is expected to be priced between Rs 18,000 and Rs 25,000, placing it against rivals such as the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, Realme P4 lineup, POCO M-series devices and Redmi 15.

While the company has recently increased prices on several Nord phones, the N6 appears designed to strengthen its presence in the affordable segment and attract first-time OnePlus buyers. The biggest question now is whether the large battery and OxygenOS experience can outweigh the relatively modest processor. If OnePlus manages aggressive pricing closer to the lower end of the expected range, the N6 could become an appealing option for users who prioritise battery life over raw performance.

In addition to the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro, another model is tipped to launch globally, dubbed Reno 16 FS or Reno 16F. In India, OPPO is tipped to launch the Reno 16 series in July, and now 91mobiles has received new information about a Reno 16c launching too. This smartphone will share similar specifications with the Reno 16F.

OPPO Reno 16c India launch details

According to information shared by tipster Yogesh Brar, OPPO is bringing the Reno 16 and Reno 16c smartphones to India. We already know about the Reno 16, so the 16c would be a new addition to the lineup. Not entirely new, though, as the Reno 15 lineup also has a Reno 15c model, which is the most affordable one in the series.

The OPPO Reno 15c in India is said to share similar specifications with the Reno 16F. It would also be bigger in size compared to the Reno 16, which has a compact 6.32-inch display.

Since we had already leaked the Reno 16F's specifications, it gives us an idea of what to expect from the Reno 16c. The handset could feature a larger 6.57-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The rear camera setup is said to include a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. A 50MP selfie camera is tipped as well. The Reno 16c may house a 6,500mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC charging. Instead of using an aluminium frame like the Reno 16, the 16c could launch with a plastic one. The handset is also expected to come with an IP69 protection, stereo speakers, and NFC.

OPPO may follow a similar strategy with the Reno 16 series as it did with the Reno 15 lineup for India. This is launching the Reno 16c as an affordable alternative to the pricier Reno 15 but with a larger display and slightly weaker specs. But if the leak stays true, the Reno 16c could bring upgraded cameras over the Reno 15c, especially with the 3.5x telephoto lens.

Based on the details so far, the Reno 16c is shaping up to be a capable mid-range phone with versatile cameras, dependable performance, and a sizeable battery. If these are your priorities, then the Reno 16c could be worth waiting for. But we should still wait for official details and reviews to see how it compares to the Reno 15 lineup, especially in terms of upgrades.

OnePlus Nord CE 6 prices increased again following recent OnePlus 15 and Nord CE 6 Lite hikes

The OnePlus Nord CE 6 has gotten another price hike and is now dearer by Rs 2,000. Here's more.

[highlights]

The OnePlus Nord CE 6 has received another Rs 2,000 price hike in India.

This is the second price increase since launch, taking both variants Rs 4,000 above their original launch prices.

OnePlus is currently offering a Rs 2,000 instant discount on the Nord CE 6 on their website.

[/highlights]

OnePlus has quietly increased the price of the Nord CE 6 in India for the second time since the phone's launch, continuing a trend of post-launch price revisions that has affected several devices across brands. The latest increase comes just days after the company raised prices of the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite, and announced the launch of the OnePlus N6 in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment.

OnePlus Nord CE 6 new prices

The revised prices are already live on the OnePlus website. The OnePlus Nord CE 6 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage now costs Rs 33,999, up from Rs 31,999 previously. The 8GB + 256GB variant has also gone up to Rs 36,999 from Rs 34,999.

Variant

Launch Price

1st hike

Latest price

8GB + 128GB

Rs 29,999

Rs 31,999

Rs 33,999

8GB + 256GB

Rs 32,999

Rs 34,999

Rs 36,999

This marks the second price revision for the smartphone. When the device launched earlier this year, the 8GB + 128GB model was priced at Rs 29,999, while the 8GB + 256GB version cost Rs 32,999. With the latest increase, both variants are now Rs 4,000 more expensive than their launch prices.

Should you buy the OnePlus Nord CE 6?

Despite the higher pricing, the Nord CE 6 remains a well-rounded option in the premium mid-range segment. It offers a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, a large 8,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging, and a 50MP primary camera with OIS. OnePlus has also equipped the phone with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, making it one of the most durable devices in its class.

That said, buyers should factor in the recent price hikes. At nearly Rs 34,000, the base variant now sits closer to alternatives like the Redmi Turbo 5 and POCO X8 Pro, which are known for their performance. However, both come with smaller batteries than the Nord CE 6, so if endurance is your concern, the OnePlus could be the stronger pick. However, do note that the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion boasts of the same processor but comes at a lower price than the Nord CE 6.

For buyers who value battery life, durability and software support, the Nord CE 6 still makes a strong case. However, with prices steadily rising across the industry, it may be worth acting sooner rather than later if this phone is already on your shortlist.

Vivo Y500 4G set to debut globally with 8,100mAh battery, 1.5K AMOLED display

[highlights]

Vivo Y500 4G is confirmed to debut in Nepal soon.

It's the 4G version of the Y500 that launched in China last year.

Vivo Y500 4G could be powered by a Unisoc chipset.

[/highlights]

Vivo Y500 4G is set to make its global debut soon. The brand has officially started teasing the launch of the Vivo Y500 4G in Nepal, giving consumers an early look at what could become one of the most battery-focused smartphones in its segment. This is the 4G version of the Vivo Y500 5G, which launched in China last September.

Vivo Y500 4G specifications: what to expect

Vivo has confirmed that the Y500 4G will feature a 1.5K Infinity AMOLED display and a large 8,100mAh BlueVolt battery, positioning it as a compelling option for users prioritising multimedia consumption and long-lasting battery life. With an 8,100mAh battery, the Vivo Y500 4G is expected to deliver multi-day usage for regular and power users alike. Also, a 1.5K resolution in the budget segment is quite rare, as most phones are capped at FHD+.

While Vivo has not disclosed the launch date or processor details, recent listings on the Google Play Console suggest the smartphone could be powered by a Unisoc T7300 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and Android 16 out of the box. Promotional images also reveal a white colour option and a vertically stacked rear camera design.

The upcoming 4G model appears to borrow from the Vivo Y500 5G but with some compromises, which is expected. The 5G version features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, a 6.77-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 50MP primary camera, and 90W fast charging support for its 8,200mAh battery.

Compared to most smartphones in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment, the Vivo Y500 4G's standout advantage is likely to be its battery capacity, which exceeds the 6,000mAh batteries commonly found in competing devices. The AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution could further enhance its appeal for streaming, gaming, and everyday use.

If the Unisoc chipset delivers reliable day-to-day responsiveness, the Vivo Y500 4G could emerge as an attractive choice for users seeking exceptional battery life without moving into a higher price bracket. For users prioritising battery life and a good display on a budget, this device could be worth waiting for, especially if the price aligns with expectations.

Vivo X Fold 6 colour variants and configurations revealed ahead of official launch

[highlights]

Vivo X Fold 6 is launching in China on June 26th.

The foldable is getting performance and camera upgrades.

Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to debut in India as well.

[/highlights]

Vivo is set to launch its next-generation flagship foldable, the X Fold 6, on June 26th. The Vivo X Fold 6 will make its debut in China and is expected to arrive globally, including India, later. The brand has been teasing the foldable, revealing key details. Now it has revealed the colour options and memory configurations for the Vivo X Fold 6 in China.

Vivo X Fold 6 colour variants, RAM, and storage

Vivo X Fold 6 is currently available to pre-order in China through retailers. Based on that, the Vivo X Fold 6 is confirmed to launch in four colours: Blue Cave, Salt Lake, Polar Night, and Black Gold Edition. The Blue Cave or Blue Hole (translated) is the popular colour variant among the four, featuring a deep blue shade inspired by the sea.

[gallery link="file" size="full" td_select_gallery_slide="slide" ids="705203,705204,705205,705206"]

In China, the X Fold 6 will be available in four variants: 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB. Chinese markets usually get multiple memory configurations, but global markets are limited to one or two.

Vivo X Fold 6 specifications

Vivo has confirmed a few key details of the X Fold 6. It's being touted as a "foldable mini DSLR," with a 200MP sensor and the first Zeiss APO super periscope telephoto lens on a foldable. The foldable will also be equipped with Vivo's Blueprint V3+ imaging chip and support the Vivo Zeiss G2 teleconverter (200mm) for enhanced zoom capabilities. This would make the Vivo X Fold 6 stand out as a foldable with powerful and versatile cameras. It might also give the X Fold 6 an edge over competing foldables like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, as Vivo is already known to offer one of the best cameras in the flagship segment.

Vivo's aggressive camera push here is a bold move, clearly aiming to carve out a niche in the increasingly competitive foldable space.

The Vivo X Fold 6 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a chipset that Vivo says was developed specifically with foldables in mind. The chipset is claimed to offer a 111 percent boost in NPU performance and a 56 percent reduction in power consumption over its predecessor. The foldable also ships with OriginOS 6 Fold and an upgraded Atomic Workbench for enhanced multitasking.

While the custom Dimensity chip promises power, the real test will be how well OriginOS 6 Fold leverages it for a truly seamless foldable experience.

Based on what has been revealed so far, the Vivo X Fold 6 appears to be a notable upgrade over its predecessor, the X Fold 5. It could offer significantly better performance, enhanced on-device AI, and improved cameras. Those looking to upgrade to a new foldable could find the Vivo X Fold 6 a worthy option. If your current foldable lacks a powerful telephoto lens or struggles with multitasking, the X Fold 6's upgrades might be significant for you. However, if you're already using a foldable, you might want to compare and see if the upgrades are significant.

iPhone Air 2 tipped to come with camera and battery upgrades

The second-gen iPhone Air may address some of the biggest concerns with Apple's first ultra-slim iPhone. Here's what to expect.

[highlights]

The iPhone Air 2 is reportedly in development and could launch in Spring 2027 alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.

Apple is said to be adding a second rear camera with ultra-wide photography support.

The upcoming model is also expected to offer improved battery life while retaining the same ultra-thin design.

[/highlights]

Even though the debut version of the iPhone Air may not have made waves the way Apple imagined it to, the company may not be done with its ultra-thin iPhone experiment just yet. A new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests the company is already testing prototypes of the second-generation iPhone Air, internally codenamed V62, with a launch expected in spring 2027.

Keeping in mind Apple's rumoured split launch strategy for the next generation of iPhones, the iPhone Air 2 is said to arrive alongside the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models in Spring next year rather than the flagship iPhone 18 Pro series. More importantly, Apple appears focused on addressing two of the biggest complaints surrounding the first iPhone Air - camera versatility and battery life.

iPhone Air 2 expected features

According to the report, the iPhone Air 2 could gain a second rear camera, allowing users to capture ultra-wide photos. The original model's single-camera setup was one of the most frequently criticised aspects of the device, especially at a premium price point.

Battery life is also expected to improve, though details remain unclear. Apple could either fit a larger battery or rely on a more efficient chipset and internal design. Current indications point toward efficiency improvements, as the company reportedly plans to retain a similar ultra-thin design.

Those upgrades would target two areas where competitors continue to hold an advantage. Devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and Apple's own Pro-series iPhones offer more versatile camera systems, while battery life remains a key factor for buyers spending over Rs 1 lakh.

The first iPhone Air generated a lot of buzz for its slim profile but struggled to achieve strong sales. Reviews were generally positive around its lightweight design and everyday usability, yet many buyers gravitated toward the standard and Pro iPhone models that offered fewer compromises in terms of hardware.

While improved cameras and battery life would address practical concerns, pricing could ultimately determine the device's success. The first iPhone Air launched at USD 999 or Rs 1.19 lakh in India, placing it in the premium flagship territory despite offering fewer features than Pro models.

For buyers, the upcoming model could become far easier to recommend if Apple delivers battery and camera gains without increasing the price. However, if costs rise alongside the additional hardware, consumers may continue comparing it against better-equipped slim flagship phones from Samsung and OPPO.

PhonePe to start charging a Rs 100 quarterly inactivity fee on dormant wallets

PhonePe is facing backlash after revealing a Rs 100 quarterly inactivity fee for dormant wallets, with users able to avoid it by reactivating the wallet.

[highlights]

PhonePe is facing backlash over a Rs 100 quarterly inactivity fee for dormant wallets.

The company says wallets become inactive after 365 days without a financial transaction.

Users can avoid the fee by reactivating the wallet before the notice period ends.

[/highlights]

PhonePe is currently facing backlash online after users surfaced terms showing an inactivity maintenance fee of Rs 100 per quarter for dormant wallets. The company's wallet help pages say a wallet becomes inactive after 365 days without wallet use, and users then get a notice period before the fee can be deducted. Some users on X and reddit have shared that they've received SMS through PhonePe urging them to recharge lest they face the maintenance fee. Find the complete story below.

Why users are upset

The reaction online has been sharp because many users did not expect an inactive wallet to attract a recurring fee. The fee also appears to have caught attention because it is being discussed as a quarterly charge, which makes it feel more punitive than a one-time penalty.

⚠️ Seriously, what is this, PhonePe?

PhonePe has started warning users that inactive wallets will be charged ₹100 every quarter after 12 months of inactivity.

Most people don't even use PhonePe Wallet. Check whether the wallet has been inactive for a year or longer and withdraw or use the balance if needed. Users who do not want the fee may need to complete a wallet transaction or reactivate the wallet before the notice period ends.

What PhonePe says

On PhonePe's wallet terms and conditions webpage, it says the fee applies only when a wallet has seen no financial transactions for a year and that normal app use does not count as wallet activity. The company says it will notify users multiple times during a 15-day period before charging the fee, and users can avoid it by making a wallet transaction that reactivates the account.

The terms also say PhonePe may deduct the fee from the wallet balance, and if the balance is lower than Rs 100, it will take the full balance and keep the wallet at zero rather than negative. PhonePe also reserves the right to change its fee policy and introduce new charges for existing services.

Has this happened before?

Yes, PhonePe is not the first fintech player to charge for inactivity. In 2021, MobiKwik said it would levy a "wallet maintenance charge" of Rs 100 to Rs 140 a year on dormant users, with the fee deducted from the existing wallet balance after a notice period. Even Airtel Payments Bank also lists a wallet maintenance fee for inactive wallets in its charges schedule, showing that dormancy penalties have slowly become part of the digital wallet business model.

These fees sit on top of an ecosystem where UPI has already reduced day-to-day reliance on wallets, leaving many accounts with small, forgotten balances. From the companies' side, the argument is that maintaining these wallets still costs money in infrastructure, compliance and security, and inactivity fees help cover that.

But due to PhonePe's sheer size, the pushback is just as loud, and the Rs 100-per-quarter wording makes the charge feel more aggressive than earlier annual fees, especially to users who assumed wallets would stay free indefinitely.

Apple CEO Tim Cook signals price hike for iPhones and other products due to ongoing memory shortage

Apple may finally join the long list of smartphone companies raising prices of their products. The iPhone 18 lineup may end up being more expensive.

[highlights]

Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company may finally increase product prices because of rising memory and storage chip costs.

Growing demand for AI servers is tightening global memory chip supply, leading to higher DRAM and storage prices.

Apple hasn't confirmed which products will see price hikes or when they could happen.

[/highlights]

The inevitable has happened. Till date, Apple was one of the rare OEMs which hadn't raised prices of its smartphones post launch during the ongoing memory shortage crisis. But, just a day after reports surfaced that even the next-gen iPhone 18 may not come with a higher price tag despite increased RAM, Apple CEO Tim Cook has claimed otherwise. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook said the company can no longer fully absorb the sharp increases being passed on by suppliers, signalling that higher prices for iPhones may be on the cards.

iPhone 18 lineup prices may rise

"Price increases are unavoidable," Cook told the WSJ, adding that Apple has tried to shield customers from rising costs for as long as possible.

[box-highlights]

"We're doing our best to mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we've been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable... We definitely need memory pricing and supply to return to reasonable levels for consumer products. That's the bottom line."
- Tim Cook

[/box-highlights]

The comments are notable because Apple has largely resisted the steady price inflation seen across the smartphone industry in recent months. While brands such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO and others have frequently increased prices, Apple has kept flagship starting prices unchanged. That strategy has helped Apple maintain a perception of pricing stability even as storage upgrades and premium models became more expensive. Cook's remarks now suggest that approach may be becoming harder to sustain.

The timing is significant as Apple is expected to unveil the foldable iPhone, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max later this year. Foldable devices already carry higher component costs than traditional smartphones, and any broader supply pressures could further influence pricing decisions.

Cook said Apple is willing to use its financial resources to help improve supply availability, though he ruled out building the company's own memory manufacturing facilities. He also suggested that expanding sourcing options should be considered, including evaluating supply chains that are currently restricted by geopolitical and regulatory factors.

Why are smartphone prices rising?

The reason for the unprecedented price hike is the global AI boom. Demand for AI servers and data centres has surged over the past year, increasing competition for memory components such as DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM). As chipmakers prioritise supplies for lucrative AI infrastructure projects, consumer electronics brands are finding themselves competing for a smaller pool of components.

However, concerns extend beyond Apple and even smartphones. Earlier this month, industry groups representing automakers, retailers and electronics manufacturers warned that memory shortages could drive up prices across a wide range of consumer products and create fresh supply chain disruptions.

For buyers, there is no immediate reason to rush into a purchase since Apple has not announced specific price increases or timelines. However, consumers planning to upgrade to upcoming iPhones, iPads or Macs may want to keep a closer eye on launch pricing this year. Nothing co-founder Carl Pei has suggested that the surge does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

OnePlus 15R now available in 16GB RAM variant in India

[highlights]

OnePlus 15R gets a new variant in India.

The handset is now available in three variants.

OnePlus 15R starts at Rs 54,999.

[/highlights]

Amid the ongoing price hike in the smartphone industry, OnePlus has quietly launched a new RAM variant for the 15R. OnePlus 15R is now available in three variants, including a new 16GB + 512GB configuration. This comes shortly after the OnePlus 15R received a price hike, making it costlier by Rs 7,000, which is actually the second time since its launch in India.

OnePlus 15R 16GB RAM variant

OnePlus 15R has been launched with 16GB RAM and 512GB onboard storage. This variant of the 15R costs Rs 61,999. The smartphone is available in two more variants: 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB, priced at Rs 54,999 and Rs 59,999, respectively. The new variant of the 15R is available to purchase through the OnePlus India online store and Amazon India as well. It should be sold through offline stores too.

Variant

Price

12GGB + 256GB

Rs 54,999

12GB + 512GB

Rs 59,999

16GB + 512GB

Rs 61,999

Other than the RAM increase, there's no difference in terms of specifications. But with 16GB RAM, this variant would be more powerful than the others since it will have more processing power for heavy tasks on the 15R.

OnePlus 15R launched in India as a performance-focused smartphone and an affordable alternative to the flagship OnePlus 15. It packs a large 7,400mAh battery with 80W fast charging support, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, a 50MP + 8MP camera setup, and a 32MP front camera. The OnePlus 15R also offers 165 FPS for gaming on select titles, for a smoother experience.

Based on what the handset offers, the OnePlus 15R is a definite pick for those who want a powerful device. It can handle heavy to intensive tasks without slowing down. The battery is also reliable, easily lasting an entire day under heavy usage and even more. It does come with compromises, though, like the cameras, which are okay for casual use but not for versatility. The screen is also LTPS and not the power-efficient LTPO. If you're a power user, then the OnePlus 15R can be considered, but for better cameras, you might want to check out alternatives like the Vivo X200T. But if you are planning to buy then you should go ahead as there seems to be no end to the price hikes.

OnePlus 16 display tipped to feature sub-1 mm bezels, 185Hz refresh rate

The OnePlus 16 could launch with a refresh rate of 185Hz and ultra-thin bezels. Here's what to expect from the phone.

[highlights]

The OnePlus 16 could feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE display.

The tipster claims the phone may have sub-1mm bezels on all four sides.

The leak also indicates OnePlus may stop at 185Hz rather than pursuing a 240Hz display.

[/highlights]

The OnePlus 16 may be shaping up to be one of the most ambitious display upgrades the company has attempted in years, even though the company upped the ante (sort of) with the refresh rate last year. A new leak (via) from tipster Digital Chat Station suggests the upcoming flagship could feature ultra-thin bezels measuring under 1 mm on all four sides, along with a display refresh rate of up to 185Hz.

While the tipster did not explicitly name the device, the specifications closely match previous reports linked to the OnePlus 16. If the claims prove accurate, OnePlus could be focusing on display quality and design refinement at a time when most flagship brands are chasing larger batteries.

OnePlus 16 leaked features

According to the leak, the device is currently being tested with Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset and a 6.78-inch 1.5K display supplied by BOE. The headline feature appears to be the refresh rate. Earlier reports had suggested OnePlus was exploring extremely high refresh rates, with some speculation pointing to a 240Hz panel. The latest information suggests the company may settle on 185Hz instead.

The tipster claims that pushing refresh rates beyond 200Hz could begin affecting display quality and may not offer meaningful real-world benefits. If true, OnePlus may be prioritising a balance between smoothness, image quality and power efficiency rather than chasing numbers. For context, OnePlus raised the refresh rate to 165Hz with the OnePlus 15, up from 120Hz on the OnePlus 13, but brought the display down to 1.5K.

The display is also said to bring improvements in brightness, colour reproduction and power consumption compared to previous generations. However, the bezel claim may attract even more attention. The leak suggests all four sides of the display could feature bezels measuring under 1 mm. If achieved, that would make the OnePlus 16 one of the most visually immersive smartphones on the market and potentially give it the narrowest bezels in the industry. For context, the Meizu 22 currently holds the record with bezels measuring around 1.2 mm.

The latest leak also aligns with earlier reports that hinted at a massive battery, potentially approaching the 9,000mAh mark, suggesting OnePlus is continuing to focus on endurance alongside performance.

For smartphone buyers, the practical value of a 185Hz display remains open to debate. Most flagships from Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi and OPPO continue to use panels in the 120Hz range, which already feel exceptionally smooth in daily use. That said, ultra-thin bezels and improvements to brightness and efficiency may end up having a bigger impact on the user experience than the refresh-rate figure itself.

OnePlus N6 launching soon as the company's cheapest phone: 4 things we want to see

OnePlus is set to release its cheapest phones and here's everything we would like to see in the device.

For years, OnePlus built its reputation around affordable "flagship killers", which was incidentally the tagline for the company's first-ever phone, the OnePlus One, launched in 2014 at Rs 21,999. However, in the last couple of years, the company has steadily moved upmarket. Its latest flagship, the OnePlus 15, sits comfortably in premium territory at Rs 85,999, while even some Nord models have crept into premium mid-range price brackets that would have seemed ambitious a few years ago. That's what makes the launch of the OnePlus N6 (on June 30th) interesting.

The company has expanded its portfolio over the years and recently exited the sub-Rs 25,000 segment by raising prices on the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite. Ironically, in today's day and age, the segment can appropriately be labelled "budget". The OnePlus N6, expected to launch under Rs 25,000 (some reports even claim a sub-Rs 20,000 pricing), could become the company's first genuinely budget-focused smartphone in a long time. And if the company gets it right, it could help reconnect with a segment of buyers that helped make the brand popular in India in the first place.

So far, OnePlus has revealed only the phone's design, not its specifications. Here are our expectations from the phone, which, in today's era of rising prices, could feel like a breath of fresh air for consumers shopping in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment.

Performance that shouldn't feel "budget"

The sub-Rs 25,000 segment is, at this point, more competitive than ever. Competing phones include the Redmi 15, POCO M8, Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, Infinix Note Edge, Realme P4 series, and maybe upcoming phones from the iQOO Z11 series. Most OEMs have been trying to offset rising memory component prices by taking a hit in the chipset department. At one point, processors popular in budget phones were now appearing in upper mid-range devices around the Rs 30,000 price point.

Historically, OnePlus phones have remained performance leaders in their segments, especially the Nord lineup. With the OnePlus N6, the company doesn't necessarily need the fastest chipset in the category for the budget consumer. What it does need is consistency. Smooth day-to-day performance, reliable multitasking and stable gaming matter more than benchmark scores for most buyers. If the N6 can avoid throttling issues and maintain OnePlus' traditionally fluid software experience, it will have a strong foundation.

Software support should be a priority

For many consumers, software support has become as important as a phone's performance. Especially with rising prices, consumers are unlikely to upgrade their phones every two years, which is essentially the OS support brands are offering in the lower-price segments. Samsung has made longer update policies a major selling point, even in lower-priced segments, while Nothing has also focused heavily on software longevity. The POCO M8, currently available around Rs 20,000, gets four years of OS updates and six years of security updates. To gain a competitive advantage, the N6 would benefit from at least three Android OS updates and four years of security patches. For context, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite gives two years of OS and four years of security updates.

A camera that gets the basics right

This is where many affordable phones lose their way. Instead of loading the spec sheet with multiple low-value sensors, OnePlus would be better served investing in a strong primary camera. Good daylight photos, reliable HDR processing and dependable low-light performance will matter far more than a decorative macro camera. Nothing and Motorola have shown that buyers increasingly care about image quality rather than camera count.

Battery life that sets a benchmark

As performance in the sub-Rs 25,000 has taken a hit, battery life has been the big gainer. We expected OnePlus to not disappoint with the N6 going by their recent launches, and they haven't. The company has officially revealed the OnePlus N6 will come with an 8,000mAh battery, which is the same capacity as the OnePlus Nord CE 6. The OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite offers a 7,000mAh battery, which meets the unofficial baseline set for smartphones these days. However, in this segment, we have a phone with a massive 10,000mAh battery, the Realme P4 Power. We're not saying OnePlus needs to beat that figure, but a well optimised smaller battery can even yield comparable results.

The N6 arrives at an interesting moment for OnePlus. The company has spent the last year raising flagship prices, with recent increases making devices significantly more expensive than at launch. A well-priced budget phone could help balance the portfolio while introducing younger buyers to the OnePlus ecosystem.

For prospective buyers, the biggest thing to watch will be the pricing. If OnePlus can keep the N6 below Rs 25,000 and tempt with some launch offers to bring it closer to Rs 20,000, while delivering clean software, dependable performance and excellent battery life, it may have its most compelling mass-market phone in years.

Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge launched with Snapdragon X2 Elite and 16-inch AMOLED display: check price, specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge has launched with a Snapdragon X2 Elite, a 16-inch AMOLED display, and more. Take a look at the specifications here.

[highlights]

Samsung's Galaxy Book 6 Edge is a premium 16-inch laptop built for performance and portability.

It uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite chip and promises a long battery life.

The machine starts at USD 2,099 (approximately Rs 2 Lakh).

[/highlights]

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Book6 Edge, a premium 16-inch laptop aimed at buyers who want a slim Windows machine with long battery life and AI-focused performance. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite chip and sits at the top end of Samsung's laptop lineup. Let's take a closer look at the machine in a bit more detail below:

Samsung Galaxy Book6 Edge: features

The laptop uses a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 3K (2880 x 1200p) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make text look sharp and scrolling feel smooth. Samsung also gives it an anti-reflective coating, so the screen should be easier to view under bright indoor lights or near windows.

The Galaxy Book 6 Edge comes with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of storage in the US launch model. That combination should make it a strong fit for heavy multitasking, large files and everyday productivity, but the single memory option also means buyers cannot scale it up later.

Samsung says the laptop can last up to 22 hours on video playback, which puts it in the long-battery category for a 16-inch Windows laptop. It also supports 65W charging, with Samsung claiming it can reach 40 percent in around 30 minutes.

In terms of design, the Galaxy Book 6 Edge is slim at 12.3mm and weighs 1.55kg. That makes it easier to carry than many large-screen laptops, while still giving users a full-size display and a more premium build.

Samsung has also included Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB 4.0 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. The port selection is useful because it reduces the need for dongles, which is often a weakness on thin premium laptops.

Where does it fit?

Samsung's Galaxy Book 6 Edge fits into the premium laptop category, where buyers usually look for a slim body, long battery life and a high-quality display. It is aimed at people who want a large-screen Windows laptop that still feels easy to carry.

Compared with Samsung's earlier Galaxy Book4 Edge, this new model feels like a more polished upgrade. It brings a newer Snapdragon X2 Elite chip, a bigger 16-inch screen and a thinner body, so it should appeal to users who want a more modern all-round package.

It also goes up against laptops like the MacBook Air M5. Samsung's pitch is simple: a bigger 3K AMOLED touchscreen, more ports and Windows compatibility, while Apple still has the edge in ecosystem strength and portability. In other words, the Galaxy Book 6 Edge is for buyers who want a premium Windows laptop with a large display, rather than the smallest or lightest option in the segment.

OnePlus N6 battery capacity revealed ahead of India debut

[highlights]

OnePlus N6 will have a starting price below Rs 20,000.

The handset will most likely sit below the Nord lineup.

OnePlus N6 is also confirmed to be sold through Amazon.

[/highlights]

OnePlus is set to launch a new smartphone series in India on June 30th. The OnePlus N series will cater to the budget segment priced below Rs 20,000. The first smartphone from this lineup is the OnePlus N6, which will most likely sit below the Nord lineup. At present, the OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite is the most affordable handset from the brand, with a starting price of Rs 22,999. It looks like the OnePlus N6 will borrow features from the Nord lineup, as the handset is confirmed to house a large battery.

OnePlus N6 battery details

Ahead of launch, OnePlus has confirmed that the N6 will pack a massive 8,000mAh battery, the same capacity found on the pricier OnePlus Nord CE 6, which starts at Rs 29,999. The company claims the handset can deliver up to three days of usage on a single charge and maintain battery health for up to seven years, making longevity a key selling point.

The 8,000mAh battery would clearly make the OnePlus N6's highlight and key-selling point, especially in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment, which doesn't offer this capacity yet. It's also expected to offer a balanced package of specifications for everyday use. The OnePlus N6 is confirmed to be sold through Amazon and will arrive in black and green colour options.

Design teasers reveal a flat-back design with a square camera module at the top-left corner, while the familiar OnePlus branding sits at the centre. It looks quite like the OnePlus Nord CE6. The phone also features a USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and SIM tray along the bottom edge.

The N6's arrival is significant because it effectively creates a new entry point into the OnePlus ecosystem. Currently, the Nord CE 6 Lite is the brand's most affordable offering, but the N series is expected to create a new buying segment altogether. It would also help expand OnePlus's market share by acquiring the budget segment, which is a popular one in the Indian smartphone market.

There's little information to go by, but based on the latest reveal, the OnePlus N6 could be worth considering if battery endurance is a top priority. However, users focused on camera performance, display quality, or premium features may want to compare its final specifications with devices in the Nord series before making a decision.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: what are the differences?

Realme P4R is the latest addition to Realme's battery-focused P series. The smartphone brings a massive 8,000mAh battery under Rs 20,000. It also offers a large display, decent cameras, and a dependable chipset for regular usage. With a starting price of Rs 18,999, the Realme P4R becomes a strong contender especially for battery-focused users. It also sits closely to the Realme P4x, which is priced slightly higher but is superior in some areas.

Here's a detailed comparison between the Realme P4R and Realme P4x to see which phone offers what for its price.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: specs at a glance

Specs

Realme P4R

Realme P4x

Display

6.8-inch HD+ LCD, 1,200 nits peak brightness, 144Hz refresh rate

6.72-inch FHD+ LCD, 144Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits peak brightness

Processor

MediaTek Dimensity 6300

MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra

Rear cameras

50MP + 2MP

50MP + 2MP

Front camera

8MP

8MP

Battery, charging

8,000mAh, 45W

7,000mAh, 45W

Software

Android 16-based Realme UI 7.0, 2+3

Android 15-based Realme UI 6, 2+3

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: price in India

The Realme P4R is more budget-friendly with a starting price of Rs 18,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The 6GB variants start at Rs 20,999. Realme P4x, on the other hand starts at Rs 21,499 for the 6GB + 128GB variant, making it slightly more expensive than the P4R.

Variant

Realme P4R price

Realme P4x price

4GB + 128GB

Rs 18,999

NA

6GB + 128GB

Rs 20,999

Rs 21,499

6GB + 256GB

Rs 22,999

NA

8GB + 128GB

NA

Rs 23,499

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: design, display

Both phones offer a premium design, but they take slightly different approaches. The Realme P4R stands out with its AI Pulse Light LED indicator on the rear and manages to maintain a sleek profile despite packing a massive 8,000mAh battery. It is available in Titanium Glare, Silver Glare, and Lavender Glare finishes. The phone also has military-grade durability certification and an IP65 rating, giving it a slight advantage in protection against dust and water.

The Realme P4x, meanwhile, features a cleaner and more understated design with a slim vertical camera module. It comes in Matte Silver, Elegant Pink, and Lake Green colour options, and also carries military-grade certification, although its IP64 rating is slightly less robust than the P4R's.

For the display, the Realme P4R sports a larger 6.8-inch panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 1,200 nits peak brightness. The P4x counters with a slightly smaller 6.72-inch display that also supports a 144Hz refresh rate, but offers a sharper FHD+ resolution compared to the P4R's HD+ panel.

Choose the Realme P4R if you value better durability and a brighter display, while the Realme P4x is the better pick for sharper visuals thanks to its higher-resolution screen.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: battery, charging

Battery life is a key strength for both phones, but the Realme P4R takes the lead with its massive 8,000mAh battery compared to the Realme P4x's 7,000mAh unit. Both support 45W fast charging, reverse wired charging, and bypass charging, helping improve long-term battery health during gaming and heavy use.

[comparative-benchmark type="3" title="PCMark Battery score (in hours)" caption="PCMark battery test measures phone battery life from 100% to 20% (higher is better)" highlight="product_1" products="41950,41672,,," ][/comparative-benchmark]

In real-world usage, the P4R should comfortably last up to two days on a single charge and can stretch even further with lighter use, while the P4x also delivers excellent endurance and can easily get through a full day and beyond. The P4x has the advantage of a faster full-charge time, with Realme claiming a 1-100% refill in 90 minutes.

If maximum battery life is your top priority, the Realme P4R is the better choice. However, if you want a balance of strong endurance and quicker charging, the Realme P4x remains an excellent option.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: chipset, software

The Realme P4x holds a clear advantage in performance with its MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset, which is significantly more capable than the Dimensity 6300 powering the Realme P4R. Both phones are equipped for smooth day-to-day usage and multitasking, with the P4R offering up to 14GB of dynamic RAM.

[comparative-benchmark type="1" title="AnTuTu score" caption="AnTuTu assesses a smartphone's CPU, GPU, memory, and overall user experience (higher is better)" highlight="product_1" products="41950,41672,,," ][/comparative-benchmark]

Thermals are well managed on both devices, as each features a large 5,300mm² vapour chamber cooling system to maintain stable performance during gaming and prolonged workloads. If performance is a priority, the Realme P4x is the better choice thanks to its more powerful Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor. The Realme P4R remains suitable for everyday tasks, streaming, and casual gaming, but power users and gamers will benefit more from the P4x.

Since both phones run Realme UI, you'll get a similar experience in terms of software. The difference here is software support. The Realme P4R runs Android 16-based Realme UI 7.0, while the P4x launches with the older Android 15-based Realme UI 6.0. So, despite offering the same software support (2 OS upgrades, 3 years of security patches), the Realme P4R has an advantage of the latest software version.

Realme P4R vs Realme P4x: cameras

On paper, both phones feature a similar camera setup, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP secondary camera and an 8MP front-facing shooter. The Realme P4R focuses on AI-powered photography features, offering tools such as AI Eraser 2.0, AI Ultra Clarity, AI Unblur, and AI Portrait Glow, along with Motion Photo support on both the front and rear cameras.

The Realme P4x also offers a wider range of AI imaging features, including AI Eraser, AI Motion Deblur, AI Glare Remover, and AI Landscape 2.0. It also supports video recording at up to 4K 30fps and includes Google's AI features such as Circle to Search and Gemini.

You should get a similar camera output from either of the phones, which is decent for casual photography.

Summing up

Overall, both phones cater to different priorities. The Realme P4R stands out with its massive 8,000mAh battery, brighter display, and slightly better durability, making it an excellent choice for users who value long battery life above all else. The Realme P4x, on the other hand, offers a sharper display, and a significantly more powerful chipset. Unless battery endurance is your primary concern, the Realme P4x emerges as the more well-rounded option for most users.

Apple reportedly testing 20th anniversary iPhone, foldable successor and camera-equipped AirPods for 2027 launch

According to a report in Bloomberg, Apple is already testing its special 20th anniversary iPhones and the foldable successor which could launch in 2027.

[highlights]

Apple is reportedly testing 20th-anniversary iPhone models, a second-generation foldable iPhone and camera-equipped AirPods.

The phones could launch later in 2027.

The anniversary iPhones will succeed the iPhone 18 Pro series and could be powered by Apple's 2nm A21 chip.

[/highlights]

Apple's 20th anniversary of the iPhone is still more than a year away, but the company is reportedly already laying the groundwork for what could become one of its most ambitious hardware refresh cycles in recent memory.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is testing a range of products for 2027, including special anniversary iPhone models, a second-generation foldable iPhone, AirPods equipped with cameras and new AI wearables. The devices are reportedly being developed alongside iOS 28, internally codenamed "Bell."

If the plans materialise, 2027 could mark a turning point for Apple as it shifts from simply adding AI features to building hardware specifically designed around them.

Anniversary iPhone and foldable successor

The report claims Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone models are internally known as V73 and V74 and are expected to succeed the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both devices could be powered by Apple's next-generation 2nm A21 chipset. While details remain scarce, anniversary iPhones have historically carried higher expectations. The iPhone X, launched during the iPhone's tenth anniversary year, introduced Face ID and a dramatically different design. As a result, expectations for a 20th-anniversary model are already building.

Apple is also said to be working on a second-generation foldable iPhone, codenamed V78. That's noteworthy because it suggests Apple may already be planning a follow-up before its first foldable iPhone has even reached consumers.

Camera-equipped AirPods

Perhaps the most unusual product in the report is a new pair of AirPods with built-in cameras. These cameras are not expected to be used for taking photos. Instead, they would act as visual sensors for Apple's AI features. Users could potentially ask Siri questions about objects, locations or surroundings without needing to pull out their iPhone. Meta has already pushed AI-powered wearables into the mainstream through its smart glasses, while companies across the tech industry are exploring ways to make AI more context-aware and less dependent on smartphones. Apple also appears to be betting heavily on AI-powered hardware experiences rather than AI chatbots alone.

Buyers shouldn't base any purchasing decisions for products that are still almost a year away. But the report offers an early glimpse into where Apple believes consumer technology is heading next, and it appears to involve far more than just the iPhone.

WhatsApp may soon let iPhone users send view-once text messages

WhatsApp could seen be extending the view-once functionality to text messages on iOS, claims a new report. Here's how it could work.

[highlights]

WhatsApp is developing a view-once option for text messages on iPhone.

The feature is already available for photos, videos and voice notes.

The feature is currently under development and not yet available to beta testers.

[/highlights]

WhatsApp appears to be working on a new privacy feature that could make sensitive conversations a little harder to preserve. According to WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is developing support for view-once text messages on iPhone, allowing users to send messages that disappear after being read once.

The feature is still under development and is not yet available to beta testers. However, its arrival would extend WhatsApp's existing view-once functionality beyond photos, videos and voice notes, bringing the same treatment to plain text messages.

There is currently no official timeline for the rollout but it's a change that feels overdue. While WhatsApp has spent years expanding its privacy toolkit, users who wanted to send temporary text had to rely on workarounds, such as sending a screenshot containing text as a view-once image.

How view-once text messages could work

According to WABetaInfo, users will be able to activate the feature by long-pressing the Send button after typing a message. A new "Send as view once" option will then appear. Once sent, the recipient will only be able to open the message a single time before it becomes inaccessible. The feature is expected to work in both individual and group chats, though not in channels.

WhatsApp is also planning to apply the same protections already used for view-once media. Recipients will reportedly be unable to copy, save, forward or share the message. Screenshots and screen recordings will also be blocked within the app.

Of course, no privacy feature is completely foolproof. Someone could still use a second device to photograph the screen, but WhatsApp appears to be trying to make saving or redistributing these messages as difficult as possible.

View-once text messages help close a noticeable gap in WhatsApp's existing feature set. The company already supports end-to-end encryption, disappearing chats and view-once media. Extending similar controls to text creates a more consistent experience across different types of content.

For users, the feature could be useful when sharing temporary passwords, one-time codes, personal details or information that doesn't need to remain visible in a chat history. At the same time, it is unlikely to replace disappearing messages entirely, since view-once messages are designed for content that should vanish immediately after being read.

Honor X80 Pro Max to launch as first phone with 10,000 nits display

[highlights]

Honor X80 Pro Max's display is claimed to exceed 10,000 nits peak brightness.

The handset is also getting a massive 11,000mAh battery.

Honor X80 Pro Max launch is scheduled for June 22nd.

[/highlights]

Honor knows how to make a statement. It launched the first phone with an 8,000mAh battery, which is the Honor Power, and now the brand plans to push the numbers even further. The upcoming Honor X80 Pro Max is launching in China on June 22nd with a massive 11,000mAh battery and a peak screen brightness capable of exceeding 10,000 nits. This would make the Honor X80 Pro Max the brightest smartphone screen announced to date.

Honor X80 Pro Max 10,000 nits display

The Honor X80 Pro Max's display is a 6.8-inch 1.5K panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and ultra-slim 1.3mm bezels. However, the bigger talking point is the peak brightness level that is claimed to exceed 10,000 nits. This is a tall claim, as most phones offer around 5,000 nits as the highest level, which is also quite rare to find. With a 10,000 nits display, the Honor X80 Pro Max would be incredibly bright, especially in situations where you're outdoors with heavy sunlight.

Honor X80 Pro Max specifications

Not just the display, the Honor X80 Pro Max is also confirmed to house a massive 11,000mAh battery. With this capacity, the smartphone will comfortably offer multi-day usage, making it an ideal choice for gamers and power users. Despite the massive cell, Honor claims the phone remains relatively slim at 8.08mm and weighs 203g.

The X80 Pro Max also emphasises durability, featuring SGS-certified drop protection, IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K water and dust resistance ratings, and a free screen replacement program for accidental drops.

Under the hood, leaks point to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, suggesting the device is aimed more at battery-conscious mainstream users than performance enthusiasts. Camera hardware appears modest, with reports pointing to a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.

If battery life, durability, and display visibility rank above gaming performance and advanced photography, the Honor X80 Pro Max could become one of the most compelling value-focused smartphones of 2026. However, those prioritising better cameras or performance may still find higher-end alternatives more appealing.

Android 17 stable update starts rolling to Pixel devices; here's what's new

The stable Android 17 update has started rolling out for Pixel devices, and here's what's new.

[highlights]

The Android 17 update rollout is currently underway globally.

The update brings a host of multitasking and privacy-related features.

Phones as old as the Pixel 6 series are eligible for Android 17.

[/highlights]

After multiple beta releases of Android 17, the stable firmware has started rolling out to eligible Pixel devices, including smartphones, foldables, and tablets. While previous Android releases have generally rolled out after August, this is one of the fastest Android rollouts ever. While the firmware brings a host of new features, improvements, and visual changes, Google is primarily focusing on enhancing productivity, gaming, and security with the new release. On that note, let's take a look at the key changes of Android 17 for Pixels.

Enhanced multitasking capabilities

Bubbles: Adding to the already available multitasking features, such as split screen, floating windows, and picture-in-picture, Android 17 brings 'bubbles'. It operates just like Facebook Messenger's bubble chats, wherein users can open and browse multiple apps in bubble format. Unlike floating windows, users can summon more than one app and place the app icon overlay alongside the edges of the screen.

Consistent widget size across devices: On external or connected displays, Android 17 will resize the widgets according to the screen's pixel density, resulting in visual consistency and an appealing look.

Customisation features and visual changes

Hide app names on homescreen: Something which most Android skins have already had, the option to hide the app names on homescreen finally arrives on Pixels with the Android 17 update. When app names are hidden, it should result in a cleaner homescreen look, which many may prefer.

More blur backgrounds: On Android 16, Google introduced blur details and backgrounds in multiple areas, such as the quick settings panel. Android 17 takes this even further by adopting blur in the widgets picker page, volume panel, and power off menu.

Compact menus: Within the Settings, the menu sizes have been resized to make them appear more compact. While this doesn't enhance any functionality, smaller menus allow for more content on a single page.

Enhanced privacy options

System Contact Picker: Android 17 lets users grant apps access to only the contacts they choose. With third-party apps having access to your contacts, this ensures you only provide the data of the required people.

App-wise precise location permission: Apps that require location permissions can access your precise location only for a particular session. So, suppose you have downloaded a new app for one-off purposes, the app can be granted access to your exact location for just a short period of time.

New features and enhancements

Screen Reactions: During screen recordings, users on Android 17 will be able to show their face in a floating window using their phone's front camera. What's special is that, unlike previous implementations, such as on One UI, which show the face in a circular or square cutout, Android 17 on Pixels automatically cuts the background without the need for a green screen.

Improvements to Live Updates: Introduced in Android 16, Live Updates on Android 17 have been upgraded to appear more prominently in the notification drawer, on the lock screen, and on the status bar.

Google Pixel devices eligible for Android 17

The following Pixel devices will receive the Android 17 update:

Pixel 6

Pixel 6 Pro

Pixel 6a

Pixel 7

Pixel 7 Pro

Pixel 7a

Pixel Tablet

Pixel Fold

Pixel 8

Pixel 8 Pro

Pixel 8a

Pixel 9

Pixel 9 Pro XL

Pixel 9 Pro

Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Pixel 9a

Pixel 10

Pixel 10 Pro XL

Pixel 10 Pro

Pixel 10 Pro Fold

Pixel 10a

Given the new additions and changes, the Android 17 update for Pixels may seem like an iterative bump up, but on a deep level, it should offer an enhanced experience for everyday use. Features like bubbles should certainly boost user productivity as it offers multitasking and juggling apps without needing to adjust windows, while the addition of blur improves the visual appeal of Pixel UI.

Other brands like Samsung, OnePlus, OPPO, Honor, Xiaomi, and others have already rolled out Android 17 beta releases for their eligible smartphones.

OPPO K14x price increased in India by Rs 1,000: here's how much it costs now

[highlights]

OPPO K14x launched in India earlier this year, in February.

The handset stands out for its 6,500mAh battery.

Its price has been increased by Rs 1,000.

[/highlights]

OPPO has increased the price of its recently launched K14x smartphone in India, making the device Rs 1,000 more expensive across all storage configurations. The revised pricing takes immediate effect and reflects the broader trend of smartphone price increases seen across the industry in 2026.

OPPO K14x price hike details

Under the new pricing structure, the OPPO K14x 5G (4GB+64GB) now costs Rs 15,999, up from its launch price of Rs 14,999. The 4GB+128GB variant has been revised from Rs 16,999 to Rs 17,999, while the top-end 6GB+128GB model now retails for Rs 19,999 instead of Rs 18,999.

Variant

Old price

New price

4GB+64GB

Rs 14,999

Rs 15,999

4GB+128GB

Rs 16,999

Rs 17,999

6GB+128GB

Rs 18,999

Rs 19,999

OPPO K14x: what's on offer

The OPPO K14x was positioned as a battery-focused budget 5G smartphone. It houses a large 6,500mAh battery, which comfortably delivers all-day endurance and can stretch well into a second day for moderate users. The device also offers dependable everyday performance for social media, web browsing, video streaming, and casual gaming. Popular titles such as BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile run smoothly, while thermal management remains respectable during extended sessions.

However, the phone's compromises become more apparent at its new pricing. The HD+ LCD screen lacks the sharpness offered by FHD+ panels available on competing devices in the same segment. Content consumption is further limited by the inclusion of a single mono speaker, while camera performance remains average, particularly for selfies and low-light photography.

Another concern is software longevity. Despite launching in March 2026, the K14x ships with Android 15, raising questions about long-term software support compared to rivals that offer more aggressive update commitments.

OPPO K14x specifications

OPPO K14x

Specifications

Display

6.75-inch HD+ LCD, 120Hz refresh rate, 1,125 nits peak brightness

Processor

MediaTek Dimensity 6300

Rear cameras

50MP primary + 2MP monochrome

Front camera

5MP

Battery, charging

6,500mAh battery, 45W fast charging

Software

Android 15-based ColorOS 15, 2+3 years

The revised pricing puts the OPPO K14x in direct competition with several older but more balanced smartphones powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7300 chipset, such as the Lava Play Ultra, which offers stronger overall value through faster performance, sharper displays, and more capable camera systems.

The OPPO K14x remains a sensible choice for users who prioritise battery life above everything else and want a reliable phone for everyday use. However, at its revised price, buyers looking for a more complete package may find better value in competing devices that offer stronger performance, sharper displays, and better cameras for similar money.

OPPO Reno 16 series battery capacities for global variants revealed

[highlights]

The Reno 16 series could feature three models for the global market.

There's a Reno 16F tipped to launch as well.

OPPO might reduce the battery capacity for the global variants.

[/highlights]

Shortly after their prices were revealed, the OPPO Reno 16 series' battery details for the European market surfaced online. Three upcoming OPPO smartphones carrying model numbers linked to the Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16F have surfaced on the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) database. The listings reveal key details about the Reno 16 lineup's battery capacities and how they may differ from the Chinese models.

OPPO Reno 16 series battery details

The certification listing reveals rated battery capacities of 5,820mAh for the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro, while the Reno 16F is tipped to feature a larger 6,325mAh unit. The figures mark a significant departure from the Chinese variants unveiled in May. In China, the Reno 16 Pro ships with a large 7,000mAh battery, while the standard Reno 16 packs a 6,700mAh cell. If the certification details prove accurate, global models could lose more than 1,000mAh of battery capacity.

Despite the smaller batteries, the devices have received an Energy Class A rating and are expected to offer IP68-rated dust and water resistance. Battery endurance figures listed on the certification platform suggest the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro can deliver around 62-63 hours per charge cycle, while the Reno 16F stretches that figure to 75 hours.

The global Reno 16 Pro may also differ in performance. Recent benchmark sightings suggest it could utilize a MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset instead of the more powerful Dimensity 9500-series processor found in its Chinese counterpart. It's not surprising for OPPO to change the specs for the global variants, as we've seen with the Reno 15 series. If pricing stays as expected, then the Reno 16 series could still be a good contender in the segment.

However, with rivals increasingly pushing 7,000mAh-plus batteries in the premium mid-range segment, the Reno 16 series may face tougher competition internationally than it does in its home market. Potential buyers prioritising maximum battery life might want to wait for full reviews comparing real-world endurance, especially given the smaller capacity compared to Chinese models and rivals. Like its predecessor, the Reno 16 series is also expected to stand out as a compact option offering capable performance, versatile cameras, and a sizeable battery. It would still be wise to compare the upgrades with the Reno 15 series, which is still fairly new in the market.
