Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 India launch imminent as phone receives BIS, also spotted on Camera FV-5 platform

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 has been spotted on the BIS and Camera FV-5 certifications, as spotted by 91mobiles. The foldable is widely believed to debut around July/August this year alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Here’s what the certifications reveal.

The BIS certification reveals the upcoming Samsung foldable will have the model number SM-F741B.

BIS certification is mandatory for any electronic product to launch in India, so the phone appearing on it does add some weight.
Considering Samsung launched its previous generation foldables right from the Galaxy Z Fold in India, the new Galaxy Z Flip 6 is anyway expected to debut in the country but the BIS listing suggests an impending announcement, mostly in July or August.
Back in February, the battery cells of the Z Flip 6 were spotted on the BIS platform and this revealed EB-BF741ABE and EB-BF741ABY model numbers.

Separately, 91mobiles also spotted the Galaxy Z Flip 6 on the Camera FV-5 platform. This reveals the foldable has a 12.5MP primary camera on the back but should be marketed as 50MP with pixel-binning. There will be f/1.8 aperture, EIS+OIS, and 5.4mm focal length. There will be other lenses as well but the details of those are under wraps. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a 12MP primary camera with the same f/1.8 and OIS.

This looks to be the first certification the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 has appeared on but we’re hoping to come across more such listings in the days to come.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: what we know so far

Recent leaks have suggested the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will have a bigger cover display, improved hinge mechanism and more. The handset is tipped to get a 6.7-inch inner screen and a 3.9-inch outer display. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 came with a 3.4-inch outer panel. The foldable is expected to come in six colours: Light Blue, Mint (Light Green), Silver Shadow, Yellow, Crafted Black, Peach and White.

The foldable is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC paired with Adreno GPU for graphics. For reference, the predecessor came with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The chipset could be paired with 256GB and 512GB storage options. The phone could have a 4,000mAh battery, which is a slight improvement over the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s 3,700mAh battery.
