First Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 CAD renders show boxy frame and wider screen

Highlights
  • The renders show the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have flat edges similar to the recently launched Galaxy S24 series.
  • The 360-degree video shows the foldable will be available in grey colour, which could be marketed as Phantom Black colour.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will succeed the Z Fold 5.

Samsung’s ‘Unpacked’ event is expected to be held in July like last year. This might witness the launch of Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Tab S10 series, and probably the Galaxy XR headset. The recent leaks hinted to us on what to expect. Now, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 CAD-based 5K renders and 360-degree video have surfaced online, courtesy of Smartprix in association with OnLeaks.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 renders

  • According to the renders shared by Smartprix, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have completely flat edges and this puts it in line with the recently launched Galaxy S24 series.
  • The 360-degree video shows the foldable will be available in grey colour, which could be marketed as Phantom Black colour.
  • The port placement is similar to the predecessor i.e. three microphones and a speaker vent at the top, while a USB Type-C port, another microphone and a speaker grill at the bottom.
  • The power button with a fingerprint sensor embedded and the volume rocker are present on the right. The SIM card slot is on the left edge.
  •  We also see a triple camera system on the back and a flash module. The placement and the design are also similar.

Hardware

The renders show the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures approximately 7.6-inch screen diagonally, with dimensions of 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1mm when unfolded. On the front, we have a cover screen measuring around 6.2 inches.

In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 measures 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.1mm (unfolded). This suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 1.4mm shorter and 2.6mm wider than the predecessor. The recently surfaced Pixel Fold 2 CAD-based renders showed even wider and thinner dimensions than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Lastly, from the renders, the Galaxy Fold 6 appears to have the same thickness as the predecessor, we are inclined to believe that the company might still be using the droplet-style hinge. Also, since these are CAD-based renders, the final design might change in the days to come.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 specifications (expected)

  • Display: 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Armor and a peak brightness of 2,600nits.
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy chipset.
  • RAM/Storage: 12GB or 16GB RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
  • Cameras: While the camera details are not clear at the moment but should be similar to the Z Fold 5. There is a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP secondary lens, and a 10MP sensor. There could be 10MP + 4MP dual selfie shooters.

As for the cameras, the phone will likely use the same sensors as the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The phone should have a 50 MP + 12 MP + 10 MP camera system on the rear, a 10 MP selfie camera, and a 4 MP under-display camera on the inner screen.

The battery size and the charging speed should also remain the same at 25W. The phone will also ship with One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 out of the box and should get 7 major OS updates and 7 years of security updates.

Finally, we are expecting the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to be announced in late July 2024 at an Unpacked event. Early buyers should be able to get their hands on the device by August 2024.
