The Great Indian Laptop Survey 2024 by 91mobiles is out and in this survey over 3,000 participants were asked several questions based on how satisfied they were with various attributes of their laptops. We also asked these participants about their buying preferences and the after-sales quality imparted to them. With the final data in our hands, garnered from the participants’ responses, here’s a rundown of the insights and takeaways gained from the survey report.

Trends in laptop ownership

  • HP, Dell, and Lenovo have an ownership share of 26.1 percent, 20.5 percent, and 18.3 percent, respectively, making them the top three most used laptop brands among the survey participants.
  • Below these are ASUS, Acer, and Apple, which contribute a share of 12.1 percent, 7.5 percent, and 3.9 percent, respectively, towards laptop ownership.
  • Then there are approximately 8 percent of participants who currently own a laptop from Samsung, LG, MSI, Infinix, Xiaomi, and other brands.

  • Regarding service quality, it seems like about 59 percent of ASUS users participating in the survey had a delightful after-sales experience as the brand ranked the highest in this area.
  • Apple and Dell take up the second and third spots respectively while LG and MSI are ranked the lowest.

Brand loyalty among laptop users

  • Apple takes the crown for carrying the highest brand loyalty with 44.2 percent of MacBook owners willing to stick with the brand for their next laptop purchase.

  • Around 47 percent of the survey respondents plan to buy a laptop during the festive sales on e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.
  • 21.6 percent of users may upgrade to a new laptop in the next five to six months.
    The remaining respondents are not willing to upgrade or purchase a new laptop in the foreseeable future.

  • Amazon India appears to be the top choice of 42.4 percent of participants for ordering laptops online.
  • Around 40 percent of users may stick to the brand’s online store when shopping for a laptop while Flipkart could cater to 19.6 percent of new laptop buyers.
