Popular OTT shows like Game of Thrones, its prequel House of the Dragon, Succession, among others belonging to HBO are currently not available for streaming in India, but that’s set to change. Soon after Reliance Jio announced that its streaming platform JioCinema has bought rights to stream all HBO, Max Original and Warner Bros. content on its platform in India, most of these popular shows have been spotted by users on the platform.
Reddit community India Entertainment uploaded a screenshot showing Succession season 4 listed on JioCinema, but is reportedly unplayable at the moment. Only the synopsis and listing is available, which could mean either Jio is in the process of uploading the content, or it’s in testing phase at the moment.
Other Twitter users too reported spotting HBO content on JioCinema, but none have talked about actually streaming it. We expect JioCinema to make an official announcement very soon on when the shows would be available to stream.
JioCinema free subscription may end very soon
While JioCinema is currently streaming the IPL for free for all users, after following a similar model for the FIFA World Cup last year, this may change very soon. Leaked information suggests that JioCinema will introduce paid subscription plans once the IPL ends. While there hasn’t been any word on the same from Jio, the plans may look somewhat like this:
Jio will reportedly pay Rs 325 crore annually to stream HBO, Max Originals and Warner Bros. content in India. We expect an official announcement very soon with regard to the JioCinema plans’ pricing and the HBO shows’ release date on the platform.
