JioCinema is currently free for all users, and it also exclusively streams IPL 2023. The company is however planning to make JioCinema a subscription-based OTT platform, and it has also announced over 100 new movies and TV shows for the service. A new leak has now revealed what could be the JioCinema subscription plans.
JioCinema (JioVoot) subscription plans
According to a new leak on Reddit, there will be three subscription tiers for JioCinema. The base subscription plan will cost only Rs 2 and it will come with a validity of one day and support for two devices. The image shared by the Redditor however shows that this is a discounted price and the original is actually Rs 29. There’s a quarterly ‘Gold’ plan priced at Rs 99 that has a validity of three months and support for two devices. This plan is actually priced at Rs 299.
The most expensive JioCinema plan is the ‘Platinum’ plan which comes with 12 months validity and is priced at Rs 599. Its original price is Rs 1,199 and comes with support for up to four devices. With the JioCinema Platinum plan, all content is ad-free excep live shows. This suggests that the JioCinema daily and gold plans will offer ad-supported content. The leak also confirms that content on all three plans will be showcased in the highest quality, which will most likely be 4K.
Previous rumours suggested that JioCinema would be merging with Voot for a unified service but there’s no confirmation on the same. Voot already exists as an OTT platform with premium and original content. JioCinema too is aiming to do something similar which will make it the latest entrant in the highly competitive streaming space in India. But if the leak is be believed then JioCinema would be one of the cheapest OTT platforms.
JioCinema’s paid subscription is said to start before the end of IPL which is on May 28th so we’ll get more clairty on the new service very soon. Also, IPL will continue to stream for free.
