Vivo patent reveals designs of TWS earbuds and case

Highlights

  • The accompanying carry case has slots to hold the earbuds, while the Type-C port is placed is on the side instead of at the bottom

After Vivo TWS Neo, the company seems to be working on a bunch of new truly wireless earbuds, as it has filed as many as three designs in China, as discovered by 91mobiles. The patent documents show off two designs of the earbuds, with slight variations. Along with the earbuds, the patent filing shows the charging case design in full glory.

Both the earbuds patents show in-ear style with silicon tips and angular design for a comfortable fit inside the ears. The patents show one of the earbuds will have a shorter and thicker stem relative to the other, with both designs showing a charging pin at the bottom. While one variation of the earbuds seems to have a capacitive button at the back for selection, play/pause music, the other design is flat. This means one could have touch-sensitive gesture support. Both the Vivo earbuds have a microphone/speaker at the top for calls and noise cancellation.

Furthermore, the charging case has the usual rectangular design with slots to hold the earbuds. However, the USB Type-C port is placed is on the side instead of at the bottom. It isn’t clear if this is for aesthetics or will have any benefit, such as a bigger battery unit. That’s pretty much everything we so far know about the Vivo TWS earbuds at the moment. The patent filing doesn’t necessarily mean the company will launch the earbuds right away, it could be that Vivo is reserving the design at the moment. We should learn more information about them going forward.
